Apostlehood isn't about just merely gaining strength, it's a symbolic way of Miura portraying the sacrifice of humanity within oneself. The ability to not be able to feel pain and suffering that comes with the human heart crystalized by the act of sacrificing something precious to said human heart.

Rosine also has a higher drive and scale of endurance. After having her bio-jet engine destroyed she fell a similar distance to Guts of hundreds of feet in the air and got up just really mad, perhaps even forgetting about her pain for a moment to find Jill. It took three mortal wounds for her to stop fighting and Guts couldn’t cleave her in half like he could with the Baron and the Count. Also forest fires can get very hot, I think an average of 850* C. She also lifted and tossed a burning tree as well. She definitely gave Guts the toughest fight in the series aside from maybe Grunbeld
Feel like guys held back a bit in that fight in the sense he was hesitant to kill her. Stating multiple times, why didn’t I go for the kill. Still not taking away anything from her feats. Amazing fight¡
@@adriangarcia5212 true but he still wounded her in very vital places, i imagine the Dragon Slayer was superheated too when he ambushed her, since he was literally waiting in the fire. He held back when she was in her base human form, then after she transformed he didn't really hold back. It speaks to her endurance

Guts was also pretty much out of gas by the time he fought Grunbeld too.
Grunbel imo is physically stronger than Zodd. Zodd is the more skilled and experienced combatant. Irvine boasts possibly the highest offensive power amongst the strong apostles. He definitely deserves a spot in Strong Apostles.

The count is fucking nutso strong. Not only was he going to absolutely beat guts.. He didn't even sell all of his soul. Like, people don't seem to understand how much potential this dude had. Godhand literally showed up to give him a chance at more power. They've never done that before or after him. It would have made him even stronger. Which is also insane. Plus he's a recent and unexperienced Apostle at that, with much less time in his body under his rap sheet than other top tiers.
I'd place him at the bottom of Zodds tier. But he definitely had opportunity to grow MUCH stronger.

Pretty much true. His daughter was most important person to him, its just like Griffith would sacrifice everyone exept Guts.
As I remember, Slan commented that due to all that strong feelings, he will make a great sacrifice.
Actually, the most interesting thing for me in that case is, how God Hand could let him to become apostole without this ultimate sacrifice.

I'm not positive on the differences between the crimson version and a normal. The count wasn't very strong. He's nothing like the apostles such a zodd or the dragon knight or the lancers.. Perhaps there's a conjunction with the quality of your sacrifice along with your loss of humanity. Not sure if that makes sense
16:06 Rosine's speed didn't reduce her accuracy, she missed ever so slightly due to having one of her antennae cut off that she was using to sense Guts.

He has unforgettable dialogue in the manga.
The mayor offers him money so that he can be saved.
The baron replies-
"Money, power, such things don't matter to me. I would like to see people running amidst great flames. I would like to hear the sound people being crushed under the hooves of horses... I don't need a reason.... Such things don't matter to me"

I've always found that kind of dialogue and motivation in a villain much more childish than 'metal'. Like, he's just a cartoon character. Malicious evil for the sake of malicious evil just comes off as cheap edginess from an underdeveloped mind. Also he looks goofy af

You can call this edginess, and in my opinion it is. Just that edginess isn't something to cringe at otherwise like people do so more broadly. Edginess is just hurtful behaviour.
Grunbeld ranks higher than Zodd. Conviction Guts was matching Zodd 1 to 1 and I'd argue that Guts before the Berserker armor could defeat Zodd, but when Guts fought Grunbeld it is stated that "He is the strongest enemy" guts has faced up until that point, this INCLUDES Zodd.
Correction: guts was matching BASE zodd 1 to 1. Guts also faced off against femto at that point so I'm not sure how reliable that statement is

No Guts had a previous encounter with slan in the qliphoth right before his fight with Grunbel in a severely weakened state and Grunbel was still being pushed slightly by a guts with no berserk armore
Zodd actually did a bad move in the fight that left him in an disadvantage: he changed.
Guts had been doing nothing but killing giant monsters so turning into one was a bad call.
Zodd in his human form would have given Guts more trouble- he changed to end the fight faster because it wasn’t fun any more.
Also guts was serverly weakened in this fight

I think that Apostle forms are based on both how the soon to be Apostle sees themselves subconsciously, on the quality of your sacrifice, and whether or not you are significant in fate.

I don’t necessarily like when people just scale off of “Oh, he beat this guy who did this,” “These 2 characters scale to each other because of X,” or just statements alone.
I don’t really know what else to say when a guy punches a building and it collapses though. Idk, power scaling is always kinda iffy
@@Stryfe52 Usually it's right to just go off what has been shown, because statements can be switched around depending on whose recounting what, either in the series or by the people discussing it. Whether it be by accident or intentionally. I mean just look at Yamcha. The meme got so popular that people genuinely forgot that he actually beat the Saibaman, and only lost because he got caught by surprise when he thought it was unconscious.

I think Irvine would snipe rosine out of the sky and could probably hit mozgus weak spot. He is a sniper after all so to equalize it I think we should start him of far away and mayby even hidden. Rakshas is definitely beating Rosine as well. I really don't know why he placed Rosine so high on the list. In an Apostle vs Apostle match her speed honestly doesn't mean much.
@@mee091000I disagree, her Speed makes it hard to land a direct hit and a high speed attack could do a lot of damage, I think Rakshas could kill her if he dodge her attacks and get a good hit, but her Pseudo apostles like the mantis may harass him enough to giver a chance to hit him, Irvine hasn’t taken many hits in the series and Rosines speed would make aiming at her incredibly difficult, honestly she may beat Irvine
But Mozgus only had a weak spot because he got stabbed before he transformed, if he’s already transformed than he doesn’t even have one, so idk if Irvine can beat him

I think you've got Rosine just right. Her accuracy at speed was reduced only because one of her antenna were cut off by Guts. If he didn't get lucky with that, he would have been skewered on the first pass.
In his human form Locus rides a horse. In his apostle form he himself has the speed and agility of that horse. Your list was bang on as far as I'm concerned. Very cool topic and video. Thanks for making it. 💪😎👍

I feel like USUALLY apostles are more powerful the more people they have sacrificed. This is consistent with the God Hand, as they have to sacrifice A LOT of people.
Hence why Rosine even as a little girl is so powerful among the Apostles.
Rosine only sacrificed her parents, though. The "elves" and guardian insect-men wouldn't count towards her rebirth in that theory.

@@apotheosis1660 vast majority, based on what, exactly? I would say the vast majority of apostles, we have zero indication of who or what they sacrificed for their transition from humanity. Take for example the Egg apostle. He sacrificed his "world", not any specific people or person. I've seen theories floating around that suggest a sacrifice may be conceptual (maybe Irvine sacrificed his sight, as an archer that'd be quite the sacrifice).
To this day we haven't seen the inciting incident which leads to the creation of a new apostle, so there's no way to know how it plays out. Who even claims the sacrifice in a run-of-the-mill apostle rebirth? There likely isn't a gathering of kindred apostles, as there would be for the eclipse event, that's reserved for the Godhand.
I think another factor might be how much the apostle cared for what or who they sacrificed. After all, if they barely had anything going for them in their lives, they probably wouldn’t have had much to sacrifice.

I honestly think you made a great list. Irvine is one of my favorite apostles too. Although i think hes alot stronger than we've seen so far. He hasn't really had to try yet. I'd like to think he's stronger than locust
EOTPW’s pseudo apostles were really strong. I think they were on the same level as an apostle. I would put Mozgus in the strong apostle tier and Goat in the healthcare tier.
Irvine should absolutely be strong apostle tier. Band of the hawk 2.0 leaders are all up there or higher imo

Could you maybe make a video were you go through different strategies how the crew that we have now (all the Kushan guys and our guts group) could take on Griffith and his army (kingdom). Like who do you think would match up against the different apostle generals?
Welcome back! Solid tier list and some good reasoning to it. A good reminder that, there are a lot of Apostles, many of which Guts himself doesn't even encounter. Though it does make me think the scale of how each of them were handled as the story went on. It is extremely impressive how no matter the amount of time that progresses in the story, each of them are a threat in one manner or another. Especially to those that are weak, helpless, or simply untrained to really deal encountering them. Though above health care ought to be one other tier: Canadian Healthcare, a circumstance that, while not badass enough as is, you are better off removing yourself should you find yourself alone with them. On a side note, I think Rosine while definitely a strong Apostle, she is the only one who came the closest to ending Guts who was already battle worn, tired, and in desperate need of sleep. He didn't even have the Berserker armor yet with only the Dragon Slayer and arm cannon, the sheer extremes he had to go through just to wound her enough to die of natural causes. She is the only one to mentally put Guts to the test to see whether or not he could end the life of a child a second time. Ultimately birthing the beast of darkness as an end result. The very thing that would lead Guts to become the most infamous swordsman to all Apostle.

Guts only managed to beat Rosine by using a hostage. Now sure, she's a child, so Guts (and other opponents) may have been able to outwit her anyway but, even considering that some of her abilities might fall flat against apostles immune to her proboscis, her speed and strength would still give her a fighting chance against most of them.

irvine is op as fuck im pretty sure he could shoot through pretty much anyone besides grunbeld and the arrows exploding in more arrows inside someone is crazy strong. I would probably put him in ultra ass whopping cause he can hit any other apostle on the list and instantly kill most of them. the way his arrows are launched I would not be surprised if he can penetrate through borgoff and mozgus

In the case of Borkov, I'd only put him in strong apostal. The world of Berserk actually has fairly reasonable power scaling, it's kept pretty well with in real world reference. Gut's arm canon is pretty powerful, even doing serious harm to even the strongest, it taking The God Hand to shrug it off. So Borkov managing to smash through a thick wood gate is a pretty note worthy.
I'm surprised you didn't even mention Zodd's healing factor when compared to other apostles. Although the apostls are shown to be immune or highly resistant to damage outside of their "human core", they still get slowed down by lost limbs or being blown apart, and aside from the slug count, they don't show the ability to rapidly regenerate from these wounds, only from superficial scratches.
Zodd, on the other hand, is shown to be able to reconnect lost limbs with no loss of strength, and also lacks a human human core to even be harmed in the first place. Even Grunbeld still has a bit of his face as a visible target, and a marked vulnerability which Guts is able to exploit when in the berserker armor. Not so for Zodd.
This lack of weakness and ability to quickly recoup from damage is also what I've understood to be what gives him the title of "nosferatu" and "immortal". All the Apostles are ageless, and can regenerate from damage over time, so why would this be a title of honor reserved for Zodd? I think it's because there's something different about him, and that it is in fact the core of his apostle power, and explains why his transformation form is so plain in comparison to others. What he lacks in flash, bombast, and unique powers, he makes up for in durability, healing, and versatility.

Guts would be compared to dark souls world enemies what player need to defeat on way to beat game, with all power scaling (like player dodges lightning - lightning speed and like that)
