I got this exact same color and model back in 2010, so you're completely off the mark on that 2012 release. However, I do distinctly remember the XL being heavily marketed to seniors, and launching in "bronze & burgandy" colors with blue coming a bit later. Anyways, sorry about the """green""" stylus. Pretty much everyone (including me) lost their thicc stylus since there was no easy way to store it, and either stuck with the little one or bought a mismatched replacement like that.
15:32-the moment things started collapsing. Saddest moment on the internet. The DSi XL is my favorite handheld, and I woulda have been a combination of devastated and infuriated.
This exact one was my first DS, I bought it back in 2011, even though that's when the 3DS came out I wanted to get this one instead. So many amazing games and memories with this thing. I actually still have it in surprisingly pretty good condition to this day, and hopefully will be able to keep it working for a long long time
I remember getting the red DSi XL with the same 3 games pre-installed. Brain Age was really fun. I wonder how rare they are compared to the original DSi that came with 5 games, Mario Clock, Mario Calculator, WarioWare Snapped, Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, and Dr. Mario DX.
As someone who recently bought a DSi XL secondhand, I can confirm that it's not rare to get the two Brain Ages and Photo Clock even when it's not new. They were on EVERY DSi XL no matter what (unless you deleted it or something)
This was actually my very first DSi console and I loved it to bits. I made so many memories through pictures, recordings and even Flipnotes. It survived so many falls and drops from my clumsy child self... Unfortunately though, it met its demise after a scuffle I had with my step sibling in which she broke it with a hammer. I am planning on getting another one some day in the future just to relive those days 🥺
Opening glued boxes tip: Get yourself a decent letter opener and then use a hairdryer to warm the glue on the box, use the letter opener to pry the lid gently up and keep the tension on so the glue is under stress. With a little patience you can generally get them open without doing much (if any) damage.
This was my second DS and the one I still use today for DS games. Ofc 9 year old me didn't realize the 3DS was coming out in 3 months from when I got it.
That was my first ever game console I got for my birthday several years ago. I spent so much time on NSMB (mario) Not even on the main game just the mini games alone just made me fall in love
I have the special edition Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary DSi XL and it's one of my most cherished possessions, and I think a good chunk of my love towards it comes from its photo-taking capabilities. Not only have I played so many wonderful games on that thing, but I took so many pictures on it when I was little. So many great games *and* memories are both packed in that thing and all my 3DSes. And by memories I mean both captured with that camera and captured with my mind. I always took It on our yearly family camping trips and played it while we drove around places like Yosemite. Those memories have been burned into my memory forever, one of them being me wearing my earbuds and listening to Ecruteak City's theme play on loop in HGSS while we were driving to some specific location in Yosemite. The combination of all those specific variables resulted in one of many memories that causes such nostalgia nowadays that it makes me yearn for another camping trip. Last time we had one was back in October 2018. God how I wish to relive those memories. Long story short, the DSi XL and 3DS just might be some of my favorite systems to ever come out from Nintendo.
I bought this color variation a couple years ago, but it didn’t have flipnote on it (bought after the shop closed down) so I traded it for a Mario 25th anniversary red DSI that did have it Needless to say I wish I kept the blue one and just softmodded it to get Flipnote :P
Ah this was a pleasure to watch. This was the DS model that I used primarily during my elementary school years. I think it's funny looking back at it as being marketed towards older people, because man, i wanted one of these so badly because all my other friends had DSi's. I was a stupid child, however, because if I had waited only like a month or so, I could have gotten the 3DS instead. Its funny looking back at it, but man I was not happy when I was stuck with a DSi when all my friends had upgraded to the 3DS.

15:32-the moment things started collapsing. Saddest moment on the internet. The DSi XL is my favorite handheld, and I woulda have been a combination of devastated and infuriated.
I love these videos immensly, thank you a lot for those!
That Mario DS lite was my childhood, I remember getting it for christmas one year. Love to see it.
I love how scott can just talk about a blue ds for 16 minutes

The classic two-channel double upload
This was my second DS and the one I still use today for DS games. Ofc 9 year old me didn't realize the 3DS was coming out in 3 months from when I got it.
I literally have this EXACT console with the same games installed
2:22 Scott this is my favorite color 🙂
also Scott: makes his entire channel's branding the color blue
I like when scott got the brown stylus out and said "Why is it green"
That was my first ever game console I got for my birthday several years ago.
I spent so much time on NSMB (mario)
Not even on the main game just the mini games alone just made me fall in love
Yoooo. I had this when I was 7 for Christmas with Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call
His favourite color isn't blue...?
happy to say that I own it
feels good seeing someone talk about them again
I bought this color variation a couple years ago, but it didn’t have flipnote on it (bought after the shop closed down) so I traded it for a Mario 25th anniversary red DSI that did have it
Needless to say I wish I kept the blue one and just softmodded it to get Flipnote :P
Flipnote is very important to be fair
Ah this was a pleasure to watch. This was the DS model that I used primarily during my elementary school years. I think it's funny looking back at it as being marketed towards older people, because man, i wanted one of these so badly because all my other friends had DSi's. I was a stupid child, however, because if I had waited only like a month or so, I could have gotten the 3DS instead. Its funny looking back at it, but man I was not happy when I was stuck with a DSi when all my friends had upgraded to the 3DS.
The word “Midnight” sounds like you’d only be able to buy it at a GameStop near Walmart only at midnight
I got the brown DSi XL at the time. Such a weird colour. But so chique, too. It's like some sort of premium, sophisticated lifestyle accessory.
Damn it Debbie
literally my first ds, this video makes me happy
