  • In the district of Soanierana Ivongo, in the North-Eastern part of Madagascar, the Livelihoods Funds and its partners are implementing a 10-year project to build a transparent and resilient vanilla supply chain with 2,700 vanilla smallholders. The project's goal is to build a high-quality vanilla, increase farmer income and preserve the farms’ surrounding natural ecosystems.
This ambition is brought into action by Fanamby local NGO, an experienced organisation working with vanilla farmers. All partner investors of Livelihoods, Danone, Mars (through its supplier Prova) and Firmenich have committed to purchase the project’s vanilla production during the whole project duration.
What has changed for the farmers 6 years later? Has their income improved alongside with vanilla quality? What is the impact of the project on the local natural ecosystems?
