I am a die hard UConn fan from way back. I definitely don't believe anyone is a lock to win the Big East. There's injuries and other things that can make things different any team.
He's respecting uconn and supporting the big east. He's not going to verbally hand it to uconn, he has his own team to fire up to give hope to win the big east
Let's beat Memphis at least before we start any boasting about this Uconn team. Beating 3 mid majors is the bare minimum so far. Uconn has all the talent it needs, with a no scrub lineup, but they've got to put it together now.
Hurley knows what Mahaney can add once he settles in. Mahaney needs these buy game opportunities to find how he fits in the offense as an on the ball guard. Diarra seems happy to support that. A few guys have been pressing a bit as the offense starts to click. Once the flow of the offense smooths out Mahaney and Ross should settle down and let things open up. I think the lobs will come when that happens. Wednesday was a lot closer to how it should look.
UConn is great no need to be arrogant. We had a great team 2 years ago, ran through their non conference opponents but Did Not win the Big East. Big East has really exceptional coaches. Creighton can easily win the Big East. This conference is tough and plays hard. Marquette will be very good, so will St Johns and Xavier too. I personally think Georgetown will take a huge step up this year, they have coaching and talent just very young.
Rick Pitino isn't a used car salesman. He's one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports.....not just college basketball. All the modern basketball that Steve Kerr, Steph Curry, and Luke Murray are credited for optimizing was actually pioneered by Pitino 40 years ago. But you gotta like the banter between Pitino and Hurley. I don't know why they don't get along but I have a theory! Rick signed Danny's HS teammate Rod Rhodes who was the second ranked player in the HS class of 1991 right behind Jason Kidd. He didn't really develop into the superstar he was projected(couldn't shoot, and didnt exactly have the best work ethic or team first mentality, and was infamous for self destructing in the big games) and Pitino eventually ran him off to make room for Ron Mercer. Maybe that's where it started. I don't think Hurley Sr likes Pitino very much either and I believe Rod Rhodes was the catalyst?
Rick is a great coach but from everythjng I've seen and heard he's also an arrogant D. Says a lot if he doesn't get along with Dan since it seems like everyone likes him.
As a UConn fan I love Rick, he's not scared of anyone and only goes at UConn because he knows we're the best. He doesn't go after providence or DePaul because nobody cares about them nationally.
Of course UConn isn’t a lock to win the BE. Any fan thinking otherwise is kidding themselves. Regardless, we all know that Danny and Pitino have a little rivalry going on. That was pretty clear last year.
If you watched any biggies basketball in the early returns and you think that UConn isn’t a lot to win at all the big east at least I think you’re fooling yourself, and if you listen to Rick, I think he knows he’s fooling himself too and just needling Danny
@ there are no such things as locks. UConn was the best team in the country two years ago and they still had an inexplicable 3 week slump during the BE schedule. It happens.
If he says another team is a lock to win the conference, he's automatically not giving his own team a chance. He probably feels like he has some idea of how to counter Hurley's system, so that might be in there a little. I do think when Rick takes a shot at someone, even his backhanded compliments can't be mistaken.
i am going to give you props for how you big up adin. but i have been to two games already. and io dont know how to rate his game so for. but it dose not jump off the table at me. like last year cams game jump off the table from game one
I mean, that’s actually not true, he had a really mediocre first two games that he won 7-11 in his third game so it takes time for a different people to adjust. Also, Cam was a grad student , played it high majors and I think Aidan is always been thought of as a two-year player here. This wasn’t a come here and then you’re gonna get elevated to NBA player. Patience
Theo Von's little bro is gonna be just fine. He's 3,000 miles away from home, in the best program with the most demanding coach in the sport. He's going to need some games to get comfortable. As long as he's making the right reads, not turning the ball over, and playing his ass off, the chips will eventually fall into place. If we're having this conversation in January, it's probably time to worry a little, but I am not concerned at all. Hass will be a great teacher for him
Pitino is right, but he doesn’t like all the press Dan has been talking and getting; but deserved. Pitino quoted, I am staying at Iona for life and I will not coach another team. He’s is a used car salesman and goes to the highest bidder; that’s why the Hurleys can’t stand this guy; as should everyone else. Issues with this current squad is the key players are young and aren’t consistent enough. In time; hopefully they’ll play more under control and learn the offense better. With all of the success we’ve had the past two years, we all are expecting better cohesiveness from this team. What concerns me is that the sophomore class had all of last year to watch and learn from the success and what we’re seeing isn’t consistent. Stewart has all of the talent to advance, but he’s been struggling with understanding the offense; Karaban has had to address him multiple times during the games about where he should be moving. He just looks like he doesn’t know where he’s supposed to move??? Biggest concern is all of the media has hyped some of these young players and maybe it’s gotten into their heads. Hassan, Karaban and McNeely all seem to understand and see the concept. The rest seem to be having trouble running the system. Talent is there but you can’t just run up and down without using your head. Another important aspect is you have so many wings that want more minutes, but production has been shaky and keeping everyone happy could become a team issue. URI game was intense, everyone was into each other, when the season started it doesn’t look as connected. Grant it, Hurley has been trying to figure out who can play what, but getting consistent play from some of the new players has been questionable. These guys must move and screen better to free up shooters. As we all watched last game is when the shots don’t go in , offense doesn’t have a real impact guy to dominate the action. Let’s see how this team develops against better opponents?????
Very stupid of Pitino, Dan uses shit like this for motivation and you really don't want to motivate these Huskies. Each year as I start watching early season I think they have to lose a step but every year this team looks better than last year's team during the same time.
Like your RUclips bit here, but this is a big Nothing-Burger. We're not a lock to win the BE or win it all? Yeah. There are zero people who disagree with that comment, including Hurley and every player and coach at UConn. No insult or "taking shots" there. Click bait. If you want my traffic, then please don't do that.
Coach Hurley uses all the Negativity to increase the Husky Motivation ! ❤ it !

I don’t know that it’s a great tidbit, good stuff
you dont need a reason to dislike slick rick, he is that unlikable.
Pitino is a well-known slimeball.

@@jimmyrustled2493So is Hurley if you are not a UConn fan. It's why both coaches succeed.

Remember back to fall 2022 and Andre Jackson. All the talent, but was really struggling. Took a few months for Hurley figured out how to use him best.
