    I just did my intake gaskets and injectors on my 2004 yukon 6.0 and while I had the intake off and I was cleaning I had oil pouring out of the throttle body, probably a 1/4 quart.... This is common for these trucks to suck oil into the intake causing all kinds of problems from plugs fouling to rough idle to gunk building up etc. There is an updated driver side valve cover that can be installed that will help this as well as a catch can to alleviate the problems with oil infiltration of the intake. Hope this helps somebody else, and thanks for the videos as always matt.

    I had this issue a while back with a 236k mile Sierra except it was throwing a knock sensor code too. So it’s a good idea to throw new ones in as well as an oil pressure sensor. I hear those are pretty common issues. That’s probably why someone had been under that manifold before you. I know you mentioned the knock sensors, but I was just throwing that out there for the viewers sake. Great video by the way.

    Mine did same thing but it wasn’t throwing any O2 sensor codes. I thought all the same things that I had intake leak, bad injector and other kinds of crap. What ended up being that ceramic in a 02 sensor had a crack in it. When the exhaust had condensation buildup like cold start or at a stop light it would act up. So when It acted up I started unplugging 02 sensors until it cleared up. That’s how I found which one it was but It never once threw a code for that. I found the tip on a old Ls forum.

    Do yourself a favor and get the metal intake gasket it's right around $100. Better quality with a thicker rubber for a better seal. Fixed p0300 p0171 p0174. 2001 yukon with 266k miles. The lean codes were caused by vacuum lines. Especially the larger hose and seal at the front left side on the intake. That corrected the lean codes.

    So much for a “clean repair” lol wrong relay? The “steam line” serves 2 purposes none of which are anything to do with emissions. 1 it’s the high point of the cooling system, it’s helps with bleeding the system. 2 it apparently helps with warm up and prevents excessive frost and water moisture buildup in the throttle body.

    Matty,
    to save some cleaner. Use WD40 to do a basic clean. It will cut thru the grease/oil/dirt. Then finish up with the brake clean/MAF cleaner. Also isopropyl alcohol will cut grease and clean just as well.
    And it's ALOT cheaper. You can buy a container for ~$3 at Rite Aid/Duane Reed.

    I bought a 2004 Chevrolet Express with the 6.0L engine and it has 107K miles. I have a P0300 Misfire and sometimes a P0200 Fuel Injector circuit codes that come and go. The misfire doesn't start until in has been driven for an hour and then the engine light comes on. The engine light flashes when I back off the throttle and stops flashing when I get back on the throttle. Looks like the plugs are new. Maybe the 6 & 8 coils have been changed as those are the misfire cylinders. Sometimes misses on #1 also.
    I've seen where there are a dozen causes so you have to test until you find it. I need to find someone who I can trust to do a professional job without rebuilding the entire engine so for now I have to hunt for it. What do you think about the fuel filter being a problem? It probably hasn't been changed. I just put in a new air filter. Is there a "Most common cause"? Anybody? Thanks.

    I'm getting P0-171 and P0-174. If I unplugged the mass air flow sensor it doesn't throw the code and idles normal. But it throws the code for maf sensor. Went and got a new maf sensor and did the same thing. Mine does it cold or hot at idle only. Driving down the road it's fine. I need help. It's driving me nuts.

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  2 года назад

      You need to change the intake gaskets like I did in this video. It runs better with the mass air flow disconnected because that puts the tune in speed density mode which bypasses the maf sensor in case it fails. So basically the maf isn’t reading the pirate air being sucked through the leaking gaskets, so the engine does not like the unmetered air. P0171 and P0174 are lean codes for each bank.
      Edit: It could also just be a vacuum leak from somewhere else, so check the intake tube for tears from the maf sensor to the throttle body. Also check the pcv and vacuum lines on the engine.
