Fully agree ... songs like Forever Young, Take on Me, Close to Me, and so many others made up the soundtrack of my teenage years ... plus movies like Back to the Future, E.T., The Goonies, etc. - definitely the best time to grow up!

I was born in Brazil and grew up there. Back then, in the 80’s it seems that the entire world was singing this song. It was an anthem of a generation. I’ve been living in the US for the past 30 years, and also here people LOVE this sing!

I love how the singer is such a clear creative soul, probably a horror to work with, explosive and temporary, lighting.
His friend? Typical introvert/autist/aspberger/german, work-efficient. Productive. Recording and documenting. A bottle.
Together, they captured the lightning in the bottle.
I've been hearing this song for my entire life and I had no idea they were German. That gives me such prodigious respects for them.

I was 17 years old and I listened to Forever Young in my bedroom. It was about 1:00 AM in the morning. I will never forget the feelings I had at that moment. It was a mix of excitement for being young and also a feeling of sadness that it won't last. To this day, I'm now 55, it's one of my all time favorite songs. Still brings me similar feelings. Now as I look in my grandchildren's eyes or ponder that I have lost my mom, brother and sister to cancer, the feelings remain...I want to be Forever Young!

I'm 45 now and Forever Young was the first LP I ever bought in my entire life. My grandma gave me money for my birthday and I bought it and it was and still is amazing. One of the best LPs of the entire 80's decade. It was perfect from start to finish and do you know how rare this is ? Even by today's standards ?! All the songs were good and the singles were amazing. Even some albums tracks like Summer In Berlin or Fallen Angel had the potential to become singles. This album made me an Alphaville fan on first listen. I bought the Forever Young super deluxe edition. It was magical to have all the album, the singles, the B-sides etc. remastered + this great documentary + all the music videos from that era on DVD. I hope they will do a super deluxe edition of Afternoons In Utopia and all the other albums too. We need, we deserve to have all the others music videos on DVD too.

Forever Young will be one of those songs that will forever light the deepest and dustiest parts of my soul -
and ignite the most tender bittersweet memories that I thought were long forgotten.
It transcends the cruel restrictions of both time and mortality.

One of my fondest memories. 2008 in Kabul Afghanistan, on Camp Phoenix. During the Bastille Day celebration I watched two French paratroopers, one male, one female dancing to this song. Hearing that great song, in a combat area, the juxtaposition was just so memorable.
