    Been having the exact same problem with a Century 68MF ultra hi performance. My old man always told me to stick with Century but will not be going back

      Shame that they are going this way, makes you wonder why they do it. Price goes up quality goes down.

    Batteries have a shelf-life, so I would look for Date of Manufacture, for any brand

      That would help a bit I guess.

    I've been a Century battery user for 50 years and my last ultra hi performance battery died before the warranty expired and the SuperCheap shop where I bought it isn't one that accepts warranty claims so I would of needed to freight it elsewhere and again freight it back to me at my expense so I never claimed the warranty.
    I'm looking for a new battery for a 2014 Ford Territory and was looking at the on special SuperCheap 650 or 750 cca ultra hi performance Century battery but with the bad reviews I'm thinking I'll buy the normal everyday 24 month warranty Century battery that's probably the better battery..

    Just bought this exact battery. Had looked on forums to get feedback on batteries and heard Century was good. Guess they are now cutting costs to compete with other brands yet are still charging a premium price. Great way to kill another Australian brand.

      Problem is they are all bad, so there are no winners. I think if you get lucky you can get a good one, a bit like playing the lottery.

      @@Mancavedweller1 always good to share your experiences, good or bad, but quality on car batteries has definitely gone down from 30 years ago. I don’t remember that changing batteries every few years was a thing. Batteries used to last 10 years plus without a problem

    Hi Mike funny you put this video up. I’m in the market for a new battery soon and this brand was going to be my go to battery. But this has put me off.
    Agree with it that dies within the time frame of warranty you should be given a replacement. If it happens and that giant retail chain refuses I would be going straight to the battery company and asking for money back. And try something else. There is also Bond batteries they are Aussie made I might need to look into them instead. Cheers

      When it rains it pours, the battery in the EL died on Friday, the day after getting this one exchanged. But that one is about 5 or 6 years old, I was recommended Supercharge Batteries but the online reviews are even worse. So now I am stuck myself, I will need to buy another battery next week. The 4x4 Has a Century battery and has had no issues in over three years They both have the 40 month warranty. I will have to see which way to go, might make another quick update video when I decide. Will check out Bond batteries as well. Even thought about Ford genuine. My last genuine Motorcraft one lasted over 10 years, pricing about the same as Century battery.

      @@MikesManCave Always the way Mike the bills in life are one after another and something always need maintenance fixing or replacement which is pain on the old wallet.
      Yeah I'm thinking maybe contacting Toyota in my case and seeing how much a new one from them is as the one I have in the rav4 is 8 years old and is the original factory battery.
      Cheers

      @@Mick_Au Yep, the last genuine Ford one I had lasted 10 years using a trickle charger which is insane. So I am seriously thinking going to Ford one day this week to see. EL is sitting in the garage going no where completely dead, lucky my daughter not working, so she doe not need it this week.

    I agree with you on that the warranty should restart since it has a 40 month warranty. I'm from a different country, here ours don't reset the warranty time is say 40 months from the original purchase date.
    We've been using Varta batteries and man the issues have been crazy, batteries exploded from a fault, battery cooked itself from internal fault, just dying and needed a replacement, plastic cracking around posts. Mate don't try Varta they are terrible.

      Can't really buy Varta here. The point is that if they give you a new replacement battery then it should have a new warranty.

    Buy yourself a quality battery charger and it will last you at least 5 years if you just simply put it on charge once per month and maintain the power that it holds short trips are the best way to kill a battery .

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  7 месяцев назад +1

    Oh but gee after three batteries dont you think something may be wrong with your car falcons have bad earths affects charging ba and similar models have a knowbpower steering pump leak problems and it fills the alternator with fluid and kills them .

      🤣Car is a $90K FPV GT it has no leaks and works perfectly better than new. As the video states the battery was tested and proven to be faulty, hence replaced under warranty. If battery not faulty then there is no warranty replacement.

    Australian law states warranty date starts with the proof of purchase. The warranty continues always from the proof of purchase date. Talk to the ACCC if you think different.

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  Год назад

      I don't know what you are talking about, so anyone that thinks something different needs to talk to the ACCC? PS the item that was purchased no longer exists, it's gone, I now have a brand new different item.

      @eddiehiggins You're the reason that anti-consumer behaviour like this is allowed to prosper, especially in Australia. What do you gain by siding with multi-million/billion dollar companies who want to extract every last penny from you via unethical practices? If you were ripped off for $250 for a cheap, nasty product that is designed to fail are you going to just stand there and go "well them's the rules better not question them!". Maybe you are that stupid - OR, perhaps you own a business, so you no longer care. Either way, lucky we don't all think like you, eddie...

    • @peroxideguy
      @peroxideguy 3 дня назад

      If that's the case, get round it by insist on a cash refund under ACL warranty rather than a replacement and rebuy to get a brand new 'proof of purchase date'

      I don’t think they will give you a replace in the warranty, last time about 3 years (less than 3 years, 34month precisely) ago I picked up a 40month warranty century battery from super cheap, few days about i found my car couldn’t start up, i have to use my other car to help start up, yes just over-night, and it couldn’t start up, i know some people may think i forgot to turn the light off but i can tell you no, i shut every thing off, then the next day i disconnect every thing from the battery and pull out the battery, leave it at backyard for over night, and guest what, the first day the battery still have 12.4V (just enough to start up my tarago), then the next day morning only 11V for the battery😂, when i bring in the battery to the super cheap, it still in warranty (34month out of 40month), the staff just keep saying it is a normal battery😂, no replacement😂
