Just installed it and works great! Some advice though...when aligning the camera have someone you trust in the cab to tell you when it’s perfect...my buddy and I has some beers while installing this and well let’s just say he had some fun at my expense...
I too faced the dilemma of a bumper with a bull bar blocking the view if mounted in the recommended location. Had to get creative and made a custom camera mount. It is now located on the poison spider bumper skid plate looking though the logo cutout. Get a great view of the line to take when on a break over and cannot see over the hood.
I used mine for the first time yesterday out on this trail named Bitterspring in Nevada. It was useful for the steep climbs when at the very top, you no longer see the road in front of you.
From what I understand, the wheel traces come from the video processor box that’s behind the back seat next to the subwoofer. I looked at adding the oem front camera, you have to add that camera, splice into the body harness on the passenger side, run to the backseat, then if you want add all the auxiliary washer pump, tubes, and wiring…..oh, and you have to add a different maybe higher definition backup cam too, which is also body color matched…….rough number I figured was 15 and 35 hundred bucks, not including the shipping, availability, scratched up knuckles and all. Im going to order this and be happy to see something when my nose is pointing to tree tops and clouds
I installed this and yes the picture quality is not great , but the image is pointed to the right 20 degrees or so. And yes it is seated in the camera housing correctly.
I am following your instructions, but I don't have 12v accessory port due to the trailer brake controller is in its place. Where or how can I draw power instead. Thanks
I’d rather have the higher def video for the front. If you could swap camera inputs, and program it so either only comes on with a button ,instead of reverse, you might have something. A little lost definition in the rear view, would be a great trade off,I think. Moving the cam forward a bit, you would gain that little bit of l peripheral view lost because of the grill
Is there a front camera option for the 5" UConnect 3 screen? I don't want to spend thousands of dollars upgrading to 8.4" UConnect4 just to get front camera...
If you already have a front camera and would like to use this option to add blind side camera, will it work? W/ tazer of course, will you now have the option of having 3 cameras?
Quadratec stuff is nice but you order half the stuff, and it goes on backorder for months. Ordered a truck bed tent back in May, they keep sending emails saying it will ship in June, July, now into August and still says it will ship at the end of the month AGAIN. So now that my summer is gone, I go onto Amazon and ordered the same exact thing. 2 days later it is here.
If I have an aftermarket radio with an AV connector for a front camera do I still need to hook the connectors to my start button for the power? The camera harness gets plugged into the radio which gives it power I think
Same question. Can you just splice in the camera with the light bar pigtail on the back of the cigarette lighter or do you need to route either the light bar or camera to an alternative power source such as the battery distribution block or one of the auxiliary/accessory buttons wiring if that's an option?
So I’ve installed everything and I still can’t get the second Icon it’s also importan noting that you can’t do a reboot with a running engine and it’s the only way I can acces the back up cam option at the moment any help?
Will the Z Automotive Tazer JL/JT Lite Programmer - Compatible with Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT 2018-2021 work to set the cargo camera settings? It is $217 rather than $329 for the mini.

@@c4onmylip I had the 8.4” w Alpine ‘Premium’ Audio on my JT that I just sold. I was very underwhelmed with the audio quality - the head unit itself was nice though. If I do it again, I’m going to to bypass the 8.4 and Alpine and go with something like the Stinger head unit and aftermarket speakers / amp.
@@ohgerald I personally like the sound even without the "premium" system. The head unit is nice enough, I was just curious about the upgrade for the camera because that would be mint for wheeling in rocks. For 1600 bucks to switch units without even adding the price of the camera yet though isn't worth it for me lol. I'll just keep using my buddies for spots when I need it instead lol.
Great install videos as always. Has anyone installed this with an aftermarket front bumper? I have a Smittybilt Stryker front bumper that has the loop so I'm worried it will block most of the view. I could mount the camera on the loop of the front bumper but may not give me proper DOF.
@@Quadratec I had the same question - I frequently park my Jeep in the city and need everything locked up. I assume one could just mount the camera just below the Bolt hood lock?
It's for off roading or parking to see what's in front of you. It's not a go pro . If you off road going up an incline you see nothing but sky. Or climbing a rock you know where to put your tire.
The second camera input utilizes an RCA style input pigtail which limits you to standard definition. There is no aftermarket solution to add a digital high definition input for the front camera. On a side note, the factory forward facing trail cam system integrates into the uConnect screen using a separate module that combines the front and rear camera into a single input. It's actually a pretty complex system that has been documented on GladiatorForum if you want to find out more about it - www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/how-to-add-factory-front-trail-camera-to-gladiator-diy-writeup.35026/
Without actually mounting one of these behind that bumper, our guess is that given the location of the bull bar, it would almost completely block the view of the camera. You could get creative, and use a different camera that you could custom mount on the front bumper below the bull bar and combine it with the Z Automotive kit that would provide the RCA video input on the back of the radio. Awesome custom add on
Wish there was some way to integrate wheel guides with the front cam. That is what makes the oem setup so useful in trail situations.

$510 and cut a hole in the grill ( because they don't provide a mounting plate ) to get a 480 res camera ? I don't think so.
