We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those that submitted their voices and uplifting messages for use in this song. In the end we received close to 1000 submissions! We listened to each and every one in the studio, a deeply emotional experience that will certainly stay with us forever. Thank you all - this process has been pure magic and ultimately exactly what all this music stuff is all about… to quote two fans directly: “There is still good in the world” and “The sun never sets on your dream”...
To all those that dug deep and provided the insane video footage that this video is built from - THANK YOU. When we started to watch the submissions, we were seriously taken aback. We had no idea it would prove to be such a deeply emotional experience to witness so many people setting aside their weekends, cobbling together outfits and props and generally unleashing their creativity in insanely imaginative ways, and all to pay tribute to these golden cinematic moments that are so close to all our hearts. These shared experiences and memories really bring people together, and recreating these scenes has been a great way to connect our fans with each other and with us. Our song is called ‘When You Grow Up, Your Heart Dies’, but I think you guys have proven that they are fighting the good fight against that eventuality pretty hard! On another note, we also got sent some seriously weird sh*t… I guess some people like to share a little too much! Hahaha!”
Song Written and Produced by Dan Haigh, Alex Westaway, Alex Gingell
Featuring the voices of fans, friends and family

When You Grow Up, Your Heart Dies
When you grow up your heart dies
Just keep holding that secret code by your side
Somebody call, somebody call it
Don’t let it go, don’t let it go
Without somebody to hold, without somebody
I just need that body
You’re on fire
The way you dance with the devil tonight
You’re on fire
You got that last dance look in your eyes
Just like a movie
Don’t let your heart die
Don’t let your heart die
Don’t let your heart die
Hey temptation escape with me
Just some flashing lights and some tyre smoke is all that we need
Somebody call, somebody call it
Don’t let it go, don’t let it go
Without somebody to hold, without somebody
I just need that body
You’re on fire
The way you dance with the devil tonight
You’re on fire
You got that last dance look in your eyes
Just like a movie
Don’t let your heart die
Don’t let your heart die
Don’t let your heart die
You’re on fire
Just like a movie
A suicide of a perfect mind
Promise, don’t let your heart die
Keep running on
Just hold on
Just fight on
Until the sun goes down
Just remember when you grow up your heart dies Видеоклипы

Where's that from? If you made that up that should be written in human stone knowledge tablets 🤔
Ursula K. LeGuin, from what google says
Surviving Danny Boy out of the maze.
Love this comment ,sums up my life perfectly!💙😁
By the current state not many survivors are left, and I can't blame the ones that are not willing to create.
"it's just a bad day, not a bad life" I cry everytime.
Me, too !
Right there with you
I said that to my 12 year old daughter after a really bad day at school and she bawled in my arms.
After a good cry she asked me, "did you copy that line from somewhere, it was too perfect to be from you?"
Lol...little turd blossom, knows me too well.
edit: I forgot to mention that I farted after she dissed me to, ya know, lighten to mood.
Worked like a charm.

The song doesn't give you strength; It just reminds you it's always been there. Don't give up the fight!
Hang on in there. I hope you will be ok. And yes, this is an amazing song. So wholesome!
You are going to make it. We are all in your corner rooting for you. ✞

This song saved me when I was at my absolute lowest. Thank you.

@Anonymous just living the dream, my friend!
Don't let your heart die.
That means your heart never really grew up, so it never died.
Class of '89 here. Just found about Gunship a few days ago. I'm looking at my forearms and I've got goosebumps!
Kudos to Gunship and the entire production staff that made this music happen. You've brought a smile to my face and a lot of great memories from 80s to me today. Bravo!
keep that blood hot my friend
*The world needs Gunship right now*
THIS needs more likes !
Imagine the future, where somehow we've endured, advanced, and survived as a species in all the ways that still allows killer music to occur... you think there's gonna be a genre dedicated to this loathsome pair of decades we've had since the calenders turned 2000 years old? Do you picture a kind of music known as milleniwave (cool of a name as that is) where we try to emulate music from these past 20 years? NO, this shit sucks and we all know it, meanwhile decades of true endurance are immortalized by music like retrowave and curated lovingly by artists that create it, and their fans..
the world needs Gunship indeed.. maybe more than we know.
PLEASE
How about now, now it would be a pretty great time
I think we need Gunship more now than ever. With Covid-19 killing a load of 80's kids
I'm 38 so this song hits me pretty damn hard. Where did the time go...I'm single with no kids. I still feel like I'm in my 20s and I don't want to grow old
Same friend.
I’m 35, lived the majority of those years through insane amounts of trauma that I’ve done my very best to avoid letting it define me.
My childhood was robbed by the necessity of growing up early just so I could survive.
My entire life I’ve tried with every fiber of my being to hold onto the good, to be positive and upbeat, because it makes me sick even thinking about the alternative.
This song, to me, was the embodiment of so many of those good memories and good times from my generation.
Keep on keepin’ on, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life.

Am I the only person that had to cry because of this music video? I don't know, seeing so many people all over the world bonding over one passion and creating such a beautiful positive video out of it makes my heart tremble ♥
I cried even just listening to the song before the video - add the video on top and total tear jerker! But in the best happiest way! :)
Yes....noononon,,. i mean no =)
Shouldn't have watched this at work... damn onion cutting nijas!
Bro, I cried like a girl. This video is fucking great.
Gunship is still one of the few bands that can dig up emotions in me.
Maybe I'm getting too deep with this, but fuck it. The reason I love this video so much is because it shows the best side of humanity. Friends and families being silly and having fun, making the most with so little. Thanks Gunship, for reminding me to never let my heart die.
you can never read TO DEEP into music!! its all in the ears of the beholder!!! RESPECT!!! remember when times get rough ....its not a bad life...its just a bad day!!
I grew up...physically. My heart did not die. And I will teach my children to never forget the power of their own imagination. The sun will never set on their dreams.
It is how it is ;-) never forget the good old times
@@shimshimanski2241 the good times is all that is truly important my friend!
all i can say is
"Don't ever give up
Everything worth doing is hard
The only time that matters is right now
It's okay to feel lost"
Thanks 🙂
As someone with long term mental health issues, this song has helped me so many times. Thank you Gunship, and thank you all the fans too. I know that all the quotes may be schmaltzy to some, but this track melts my cynical little heart. Thank you all.
The most cynical of us are also the most sentimental
I don't often venture outside of Metal music (and Rock and Grunge of course) and if I do it's usually just instrumental stuff like Classical and Jazz, the reason being other genres tend not to have the same raw emotions and relatability that Metal does it's just comforting to know I'm not the only one struggling with my mental health, anyway my point is that's one of the biggest reasons I can't get behind genres like say Pop for example it just lacks that emotional human element, so when I discovered Gunship (I love the movie The Lost Boys so had to hear Dark All Day) and subsequently this song I was very happy to hear something new I'm not accustomed too that gives that same feeling of not being alone I get from Metal.
Well said my friend
Yup. 👍
Dont ever give up
I lost a buddy who was a fan of GunShip. This video was one of the last things we talked about before he passed away.
Thanks for the amazing memory.

"it's just a bad day, not a bad life" something i tell myself daily when i have an anxiety attack
Reminds me of a great tweet I saw recently. "Was it really a bad day, or was it a bad 10 minutes that you milked for the whole day?" I always try to catch myself when I'm milking that bad 10 minutes now.
I always think of the scene in Ghostbusters where the guy keeps getting shocked during the psychic test and Bill Murray is like, "Today is just NOT your DAY!" Always makes me laugh.

I found them from a really awesome fanmade MV for Terminator with Tech Noir like 2 years ago. I WAS BLOWN AWAY and GUNSHIP has been a daily drug since then. ruclips.net/video/p8yDptW8s2o/видео.html
True story, I tripped and fell into the video for Tech Noir less than a year ago, and it spoke to a love for synth I never knew I had until then. GUNSHIP has since rekindled golden memories once thought lost forever (from all the way down here in South Africa), and this video shouts out to every one of them, and every one of us.

Gunship really deserves more attention than they get. They make very high quality music, their lyrics have depth, and their songs just sound great in general.
Sadly, the music industry doesn't work that way. Awesome music like Gunship will never be mainstream. And that's a great thing, because it's message will never get watered down, distorted or corrupted. Gunship is my favorite band because they got heart kid... and synthwave is my new favorite genre. Its 2020, just after Christmas, I'm 28 and at the end of a horrible year, full of disappointment, heartbreak, and failure. Then I stumble upon Gunship and this little music video in particular, and even though I am not an 80s kid myself, I still managed to recognize every single reference and it made me relive all the great memories I have that are related to those references. Thank you Gunship and everyone involved in this video. Thank you for not letting my heart die.
Stop making me cry from nostalgia! I'm not even kidding.
I don't know how y'all do it. Every time y'all make a video it is absolute gold. This is easily the one of the coolest music videos I have ever seen. Now I'm about to go listen to the new album 20 times today.
RUclips video of the year contender right here!!!
Thank You, I am alive today thanks to Your music and messages. Thanks for reinventing me when I needed it the most.
That lyric, " it's just a bad day not a bad life" gets me everytime. Beautiful song
First 45 seconds, already includes a modern retake on the first Deckard & Rachel Blade Runner Scene, Voight- Kampff test, used to measure empathetic response.....and you turn it into your opening segue... " I care".....and in this context coming from the REPLICANT. Please always be as brilliant as you are now.
YES - we were so psyched that we got our VK machine 'together' in enough time to use it in our video submission!! We felt like that dialogue was exactly the kind of conversation that Rachael and Deckard would have too - so we hoped and prayed that we would get in...AND IT HAPPENED. Literally the best day ever!!! If you want to see more background on the VK machine and more Rachael and Deckard photos, you can check out our Instagram too: it's @MJ_and_Spidey - much love to a fellow replicant lover! MJ
"You've done a man's job, sir."
pure love of 80`s flows thru my monitor
The emotional rollercoaster in this video is on another level. It's got humor, sadness, despair, empathy nostalgia- quite simply this video has it all.
When I feel down and useless, I listen to this. In my late 30's I need this.
I'm 40, and my heart isn't dead yet. I still look at the day where anything is possible. A new comic book, or LEGO, a bike ride, a neat song you just heard for the first time. More responsibilities and worry, sure, but I haven't given up, grown up. No, not yet.
I'm quite a bit younger and feeling pretty down and lost lately but this made me smile. I hope to have that same sense of curiosity and wonder at 40!
I'm a couple years younger. Have a family, responsibilities, but I look in every nook and cranny for interesting stuff. Recently picked up actylic painting, started playing Dragon Dice with my buddies... The '80 are strong in us, will never let our heart die!
One of the worst things someone can say to me is "at your age you shouldn't...." Get rid of those people from your life.
THANK YOU GUNSHIP FOR USING ME IN YOUR VIDEO. WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY I WAS TO SEE MYSELF SO OFTEN!! THANK YOU FOR BEING SO AMAZING!💕
I assume you're the girl who held the multicolored spatula microphone. You did a great job.

@@MDSguy Thank you so much! Means alot!💕
My favourite part! Haha.
i was on the brink today. This reminded me that it's gonna be okay. That my struggles have a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll make it, thank you gunship for your musical masterpieces.
Unfortunately, I grew up and my heart died. And I'm constantly coming back to this song to try and get back that guy I was 5, 10 years ago. It's really inspirational.
Cheers from Brazil. Gunship forevah!
