Building a 3D Printed Monitor Arm for Your Bed

- An Ergonomic Monitor Arm is a common computer desk accessory, however, this arm isn't even mounted on the desk. With this design, you can sit, recline, lay down, stand, and lay on the floor all while watching movies, surfing the web, and playing video games.

The use of the magnets was a simple and brilliant solution. Nicely done. Great job!!!
Thanks for putting the bill of materials in the video description AND Links!!! So many youtubers don't do that. Thank you so much!
I have a similar setup but I’m using a Lenovo Xiaoxin pad pro 12.7inch tablet and I stream my games from PC using Moonlight, the tablet has a Snapdragon 870 processor which is kinda outdated by now but remains to be one of the best for streaming, the video decoding latency is ridiculously low. Oh and I’m simply using a 3 section tablet mount which you can find for around $15 or less.
Dude! This is awesome!! Congrats, man.
Great video. Looking forward to more cool projects 🙏🏻
This is great. You could reinforce the parts with standard nuts and bolts especially to absorb tensile stress along layers.
Thats a great idea! I will incorporate that in version 2 of this design. Thanks
Awesome project and well executed
Yan. Congratulations!! This looks great! I am in the process of modding similar arm mount. Mine is for a large tablet and will be wall-mounted. Rumble young man, rumble!.
Awesome idea! Well done.
well done mate, thanks for sharing your project. Keep it up!
I am ordering a arm to mount to a desk next to my bed hopefully I can get it to work
Neet design and cool video!
I was going to put the effort into building one for fun, but I heard there will be a new version.
Paired with a Rasberry Pi 400 (Or just a Pi 4 with a small keyboard) and a trackpad that could fold/unfold from behind the screen and that would make a very useful next to bed multipurpose small PC, like an alarm clock/reminder or watching videos without having to turn on my main PC.
Really looking forward for that new version!
That's a cool project! I'm creating one for my desk for a portable monitor, but it's 100% 3D printed. It can rotate at the base, the height and depth of the monitor is adjustable, and it has a ball head to adjust its angle. Because that portable monitor doesn't have a VESA mount, my arm holds it using claws similar to a phone tripod mount. Aside from the rotation at the base, which will have its friction adjustable with a screw and lever system, the height and depth are adjustable with geared rails. You just have to hold the monitor at an angle, and you can then adjust either the height or the depth without having to loosen anything, and it won't move once it's adjusted.
Amazing design my man!!! I know everyone would love something like this. Hook your laptop up and have a keyboard with a trackpad. Boom, never have to leave your bed.
Looks great! Congratulations ^_^
Great stuff!
Keep it up!
Great work. I also want to do something similar with a desktop monitor and the heavy weight will be challenging. Fortunately I do not require as much range/complexity of motion as yours provides, so I think it may be possible to achieve inexpensively. Mine will only need to go down into position, and upwards and out of the way when not in use.
For your desing you might get away with just a simple locking mechanism. It could be a button you press that unlocks the joint and allows you to move it freely. Then once it is locked, it stays in place.
i want to do the same thing, will you make your design on thingiverse ?
amazing bro
keep it up
You have a bright future man.
Trying to build a car mount for a Samsung Galaxy tab 8 ultra, yeah you'll really love the touch screen when you get it
I am really interested in this thing my home office, thx bro for idea !))
Keep making things and videos about those things, Yan! Great stuff.
i like it .good job
now this is my type of stuff... im trying to make one with a gas strut for a 10lbs monitor
Ha!l Only a guy into robotics would have used magnets for friction as opposed to a regular mechanic who would have used rubber O-rings. Excellent work man. That thing is built to last and function as intended throughout it's life, O-rings would have worn out and needed replacement overtime. Kudos brother.
Awesome job, followed you from Thingiverse and subbed. I'm planning on making this, just looking for a light touchscreen monitor with VESA mount. Thanks and Best!
Thank you! I am glad to hear that you're interested in making one, Ill update the thingiverse to include both 100mm and 75mm vesa mount adaptors
Congrats for the good work and design! Also, what can you tell us about the PCB module for your laptop display, specs and price info? Thanks!
Looking for ideas 💡 to be able to do this with a 49" Odyssey. 👍😁
nice!! just what my lazyness needed :P
When will this be on amazon? I cannot find any monitor arm that can tilt 90 degrees down in the market. The only option are the expensive hospital bed arms. If you can produce something like this for $100-$200 a unit, I am pretty sure it would sell like water.
Thank you for your suggestion. Initially, I didn't plan on selling them because of startup cost but I think I might be able to soon because V2 and V3 of this design are nearly complete now. I would feel more confident selling the new design because I had more time to address the issues.
Nice 👍
i wana build same type but to hold heavy weight 55inch lg oled. i also wana build mouse and keboard magnegic holder.
@Yan Ostanin very nice idea! Is there any place to buy this as how it is instead of self building? Thanks
Thank you Dania, the closest commercially available thing I found is a tablet holder. You can check it out here: www.amazon.com/Foldable-Aluminum-Universal-Flexible-Rotation/dp/B08FMSCCG9/ref=asc_df_B08FMSCCG9/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459710794544&hvpos&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12317214711594251057&hvpone&hvptwo&hvqmt&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl&hvlocint&hvlocphy=9028730&hvtargid=pla-968638381111&psc=1
I hope that helps
Hey man, how much for you to make me one?
I’d like to invest
Sussy Bruh-snan? D:
hello you could link the spring what kind of spring it is
Hi, I used a spring that i found in my house. its a 600N/m coefficient spring that is 10cm in length. That probably doesn't help you in buying a spring because you need more information so ill get back to you if I find a spring online that matches the one I used
Is it possible to buy this arm from you? My nephew is currently in a hospital bed and this would be perfect for him, but I’m not handy and can’t build it myself.
I'm very sorry that your nephew is in the hospital. I was not planing on selling it but I am working on a new version that will be much more simple to make. If you want to get something for your nephew that will be just as effective try this: www.amazon.com/Foldable-Aluminum-Universal-Flexible-Rotation/dp/B08FMSCCG9/ref=asc_df_B08FMSCCG9/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459710794544&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12317214711594251057&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028730&hvtargid=pla-968638381111&psc=1
@@yanostanin That would not support a monitor, would it? If you don't want to manufacture this yourself, you could sell the design to a company.
Will someone build me one
Where can i buy one papa yan
Ollie??? O_o

Why is there always one unlike on like every video regardless of likes?
