To be fair, I feel you've saved a lot of people from the same mistake! Also, Changi certainly doesn't seem like the worst place to be stranded for 3 hours even without the Jewel!

But do remember , the early check in service closes 3 hours before your flight and after that you have to proceed to your terminal to do check in via the usual method

Thanks so much for posting this. I have a layover at Changi in a couple of weeks and the information about getting to The Jewel is really confusing. Nice to know we can see it from the sky train.
Hi Janice, I wrote a suggestion to the Changi Airport Group to improve this situation after watching your video n this is their reply below. Sorry that this happened! Awesome video by the way! "Thank you for your suggestion to install signs to inform travellers that Jewel Changi Airport is only accessible from public areas. We acknowledge and do note of these occurrences. Actually you did not make any mistake since you are able to very all the 3 connecting terminal and catch a ride internally on Skytrain that goes thru the middle of Jewel, which i m waiting to do when i Depart at Changi during the night. Interesting video. Thanks for posting. I went in the butterfly farm when I passed through SG in January 2020. Didn't have a long enough layover before my next flight, but well worth it. Stopping off at SG for four days this coming December, and we arrive in SG at 7.30am, so we will do the Jewel and things before we go to our hotel.

Hello Janice ! I was in Singapore 2nd week of August 2019 and no worries coz Jewel is a mall inside the airport. Typical class "A" mall... There are supermarket, Cinema, and stores to shop. That huge indoor fountain occupying several floors of Jewel is for me d highlight... But you have seen it as I have seen in your vlog here in. Yes, Jewel is located in the airport before passing the immigration coz those people who wanna go to d mall or supermarket before departure or upon arrival at the airport could go directly to Jewel to shop everything they need. Don't feel so bad or so sad that you didn't go to Jewel coz to reiterate Jewel is a typical class "A" to shop or do window shopping or watch movie or buy food supply in the supermarket. 🌷⭐🌻🌼 Cheer up girl 🤜🤛🌈💓
aww, I feel your pain, it's ok, at least you got to explore other parts of the airport. I got really tho lucky because I transitted at Singapore Changi Airport, so I went out of immigration without having to bring my luggage bag. I got to see the Jewel, It was truly eye-opening, but I only had an hour to stay there.
This is the good thing about Singapore : even if you had to miss a good thing, you still get to whizz past it, totally encapsulated ! Thanks for the informative clip Janice, as a constantly abroad local, I have yet to visit the Jewel, though Changi is my regular haunt whenever I am back home !
Going to Singapore in December and if you hadn’t posted this video I would have never guessed the “Jewel” was before the immigration 😊. Also great and funny videos on HK (how I found this channel) which I’ll be visiting in November. Keep up the good work! 😁
I wish more videos on the airport shared this. We had an 8.5 hour layover in Singapore and accidentally exited through immigration and then came back to shower at a lounge etc. We had planned on spending the day in the city and then exploring the airport. We were not able to because they only allowed us the single exit and entry.
Oh my goodness, I actually was planning the same on my return trip! I’m so sorry for your travel mishap, but thank you for saving me from doing the same! I hope you’ll get to do the trip again to see everything!
Good advice. Do not take your luggage into Changi Jewel. I have written complaints about not having clear warning signage (especially for older folks), that it is a one kilometer walk (felt like it) from Terminal to Jewel. Then when you want to go home, the taxi drop off outside Jewel cannot take on passengers (stupid traffic regulation). You have to take your self and luggage all the way to the other side of the airport terminal and wait in line with passengers who have just disembarked. If you are not physically fit, there is nothing but a waterfall similar to Gardens by the Bay or MBS. Shops are plentiful but not really relevant - imagine Gardens by the Bay full of shops. My experience in Changi Jewel was not so good and I went without any baggages.
I did film one scene while i was in Terminal 3 butterfly garden but i had to wipe that segment off because i could only see 3 butterflies. You're lucky that you managed to see more there.
Love your work, Janice. Here`s mine. Brissy to Sydney to Osaka, Japan. Waited at the luggage carousel in Sydney for luggage that never came (cos going to Japan). No staff anywhere cos its QANTAS and all self-check in/service. Missed my flight to KIX, waited another 8 hours at Sydney airport with a 4-year-old, for the next flight. Now that’s talent ❤️😂
Hi Janice! We're so intrigued! We've heard so many great things about this airport. Noooooooooooooo.... That's so sad!!!! Don't feel bad though. We've done similar things while traveling. Haha Plus, you got to show us everything else that we don't see in most videos. This airport has so much!!! They really think about passengers. Yayyyy!!! At least you got to see it. That butterfly garden is pretty epic too. That food street sounds pretty cool as well. YEahhh Cactus garden! It is indeed very nice that you have the option to swim.Great video!
Thanx so much - we’ve got a 7 hour stopover in 2 weeks and was wondering what to do considering we won’t be able to visit the jewel but hey there’s so much more to do thanx to this video
Very informative video specially for first time travellers .. also a time saving tip that v can c the jewel changi thru the sky trains .. thanks for sharing your experience!
LOL in all honesty, I would've made the same mistake. I thought you could access Jewel from within the terminals as well. We just got lucky cos we randomly stumbled upon as we were looking for our Grab and I was like, "oh, what's this waterfall contraption thingy?" I legit had never heard of the Jewel before. Clearly have been living under a rock. I'd try and make you feel better by saying it's overrated, not that impressive and all.. but danggggg, girl. You missed out. It's pretty darn epic. Love your fun personality and vibe!
Hello 👋! Hahaha thanks for attempting to make me feel better 😂 I saw the waterfall from a distance in the sky train and that was already pretty damn cool, I’d imagine it’d be exactly like you said in person!!
Hahaha Omg, can’t believe you missed out the Jewel too Janice! Lucky you have a chance to see it from the sky train in between terminals. This is actually great information to share 👍🏻 I think many people out there might do the same as you as they will think the Jewel is inside the airport building so they will check out during transit or after checked in.
Im so glad i watched this. as i want to see jewel and the information online is not very clear. Ive got a flight from terminal 4 and there doesnt seem to be a way to go between the terminals
Google and other YT Vloggers are your best friends. Haven't been to Singapore since the late 90's so I'm really excited to be there this December. Take care.
Welcome to transit in Singapore, we learn from our mistake just like what I always did when I had travel out to Vietnam and Thailand before. I hope you would/will return to visit Singapore island again whether inside the Changi Airport or outside/inside Singapore island to see for yourself.
The card system at the food court is probably because they’re anticipating transit passengers that may not have Singapore currency, so only the main counter has to handle the currency exchange
I like the music on this video! Really expresses the frustration or confusion of the situation you experienced lol. But i still like how you worked out how to view the changi jewell! Was great to see!
I think it's more a marketing problem that made you assume that Jewel can be visited after immigrations. I keep seeing non Singaporean media referring to Jewel as the airport when it really is just a mall that is next to/connected to the airport. It's understandable to think that you can visit the place after immigrations.
That means at the moment you thought and said you could reach Jewel but could still take the skytrain, You should be able to reach Jewel. You better take a look at the map of Jewel and the airport.
Okay so I found this video thorugh searching something completely unrelated on youtube. Never have I had such a lucky accident on this website before! Gonna check out the rest of your channel now, byeeee ~~~
Oh my God! You are absolutely adorable! So young and so fresh and as cute as a flower. I really wish I had more friends like you I am in my 70s now and of course nobody young and vibrant like you wants to be a friend of an antique. But I have thoroughly enjoyed your journey.
Yes that's what I think too...you're video is gonna save us from making the same mistake! Your advice is precious. Thanks a lot for sharing this experience.
Thank you. You have just answered my question and helped me planned my trip. Now I know, to visit Changi Jewel as a day trip during my stay - NOT during stop overs or waiting to embark. Some comments below too shared this sentiment that you have saved a lot of people from making the same mistake.
hey :) its accessible from any terminal, like Sarah said, but you do need to exit the restricted area (i.e. go through immigration and enter Singapore). once you've gone through arrival immigration there are a bunch of signs that will lead you there. it's actually pretty obvious... hence why it was such a dumb mistake for me lol .
this is very handy to know as we travel end of the month and our last day is train from sentosa to the airport. our flight isnt until 6:30pm so we will have about 5/6 hours there. check in bags then explore before heading to departure terminal
Hi Janice, there is a SkyTrain that passes through the jewel from the transit. You can't come out but you get to see the garden and waterfall inside as it pass through. Anyway no big issues (I thought the butterfly garden is much better) it will still be here when you do come around again. I love char siew too. 😉
Janice, you are one of the very FEW RUclipsrs travel people who will admit it when you make a mistake. Most of the time, all you hear are people blaming everyone else when travel does not go as planned or as hoped.
Is so so good your video, so so informative, you really did a great work filming inside Singapore airport you give me a lot of ideas of what to do inside Singapore airport looking that I have 5 hour's between flights, thanks to you I will visit few terminals and I will upload on RUclips but for sure I will not be that good like you, how you do this presentation, congratulations and keep filming wherever you go 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing this. I was at Singapore Changi airport Nov 2019. I was transmitting from Perth going Seoul. I knew about the Jewel beforehand, so when I arrived Changi (from Perth) I looked up map, yep I am at this terminal, take the train to next terminal where Jewel is. I simply couldn’t find it, though the map say it is there. I asked someone and she said it’s outside, need to pass the immigration. So I didn’t get to see it. Then I saw this video of yours. At least you found the free movie cinema. I couldn’t find that either.
There's so much to shop and eat at Changi, you could easily spend hours between 3 terminals. Try their staff canteen for local food options at non-airport prices!
First may i say that in or around 1953 i played as a little Irish boy of seven on the land that Chingi Airport covers! Im now 78 and living in New Zealand and have enjoyed very much your tour of the Airport in video! I found you personally very charming and down to earth! Very well done ! PS - To me who likes to rock and maybe to roll some ,i view modern Airports as AI Robot friendly at best!
Had a stressful experience as well just to see Jewel Changi! I remember my terminal/gate was the farthest from the Jewel so I had to walk all the way to its terminal and back. Changi airport is a pretty big airport lol. Lesson learned 😂
Butterfly garden is the best I liked in Changi. I have not been to Jewel Changi yet though. Your video saved me from making the mistake. I hope I get time to see Jewel Changi during my next trip
I guess as Singaporeans we are so used to having giant malls, so the overtly sensationalized Changi jewel is no big deal to us. Yes, the indoor waterfall is something, but what are you going to do with it except to just look at it? Well, you see it once, twice and three times, then boredom sets in, and then that’s it.
Thank you so much for this video. I am currently the 8,767 viewer. I can see this shooting pass 100K views easily. Let's hope I'm right. You really keep us guessing at the beginning. Way to go.
I guess you must have did all your Googling after the "mishap". :) Curious, but why didn't you visited the Jewel when you touch down? When Jewel was built, the intent was also for locals coz usually we sometimes visit the airport during weekends as a shopping area. By making the place accessible for locals, it also helps to sustain the shops rather than totally dependent on business travellers and tourists who might be rushing in and out of Singapore. So fret not, if you are here in SG next time, I can always bring you out to explore from a local eyes. :) Btw, the char siew noodle looks really crappy, coz you can get the same at $3 to $3.50 at hawker centres but it is the airport, so it is understandable. Also, the reason why they use a card system is partly becoz the stalls could be rented out to sub-tenants by the master tenant. Their tenancy agreement probably has base rent plus profit sharing, so by having a card system, the master tenant knows the revenue for each shop and takes a cut in it.
Haha I did indeed google Jewel extensively after I could no longer get out of the restricted area. 🤣 I arrived in SG at like 8 / 830 pm? And just wanted to get to my hostel and call it a night Also, makes a lot of sense re the card system, thanks Alvin!
I’m sorry this happened, but so grateful you shared this with us all. My wife and I were in Singapore last March and it wasn’t opened yet (I could be totally wrong too lol). I have the opportunity to go back in April with a co-worker who wanted to day trip to Singapore from KL. He doesn’t know but most of my willingness to do this long day trip is because I really want to see the jewel there. Sorry #avgeek at heart lol. I would have completely assumed the same as you, go thru immigration and into the secured zone. Thank you for this! You’re a travel hero for taking one for the team and sharing this lesson. Safe travels!!!
Well, for sure, you are neither dumb nor 'stupid'! You are very bright and wonderfully enjoyable! I so enjoy your videos(also how lovely to see/meet your wonderful parents!) Please continue my dear!

Cheer up girl 🤜🤛🌈💓
thanks for trying to make me feel better ! :)
aww, I feel your pain, it's ok, at least you got to explore other parts of the airport.
I got really tho lucky because I transitted at Singapore Changi Airport, so I went out of immigration without having to bring my luggage bag. I got to see the Jewel, It was truly eye-opening, but I only had an hour to stay there.
That's Sad, don't worry you can Next Time :)) Changi Airport Simply Incredible, Great Video Sis!
thanks so much mate!
yeah... next time :)
Great video! Thanks for sharing. We go through Changi tomorrow. Safe travels!
This is the good thing about Singapore : even if you had to miss a good thing, you still get to whizz past it, totally encapsulated !
Thanks for the informative clip Janice, as a constantly abroad local, I have yet to visit the Jewel, though Changi is my regular haunt whenever I am back home !
No problem☺️ glad you enjoyed it !
It looks even better in person than in the video!
Cracking video thanks guys. We have a 10 layover in December en-route to NYC.
Going to Singapore in December and if you hadn’t posted this video I would have never guessed the “Jewel” was before the immigration 😊. Also great and funny videos on HK (how I found this channel) which I’ll be visiting in November. Keep up the good work! 😁
Ahhhh this makes the video all worth it!!! Make sure you don’t miss the Jewel 😊
Also thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoy the videos 🙏
9:52 actually, if you go to the hawker centers, you can find noodles at 2 to 3 dollars😅😀
AKAJovain Gaming And Vloging what. How old are you? Oh my, you’re missing out in life man.
I wish more videos on the airport shared this. We had an 8.5 hour layover in Singapore and accidentally exited through immigration and then came back to shower at a lounge etc. We had planned on spending the day in the city and then exploring the airport. We were not able to because they only allowed us the single exit and entry.
Don't be hard on yourself Janice. Have a happy holiday. Your noodles look good. Enjoy.
That airport is dope anyway! We loved it when we went thru there! Great shot from the skytrain anyway! Great price on those bbq pork noodles!
Yeah! I’d never get bored in Singapore airport
Those bbq pork noodles were a steal! (Considering all food in airports have prices hiked!)
You can go jewel through the bridge that connected to jewel from T2
There will be a direction of how to go there so yea
Hope u enjoyed your trip to Singapore despite the disappointment. Come back again for Jewel 🤗
Definitely will!
Oh my goodness, I actually was planning the same on my return trip! I’m so sorry for your travel mishap, but thank you for saving me from doing the same! I hope you’ll get to do the trip again to see everything!
I gotta say i see why singapore os the best! Omg tje char siu noodles looks amazing i am mouth watering
The Hungry Black Panda i eta ut everyday xD
The Hungry Black Panda u can find much better char siew noodles in other parts of Singapore
you should try the char kway teow and oyster omelette too! (though i preferred the penang’s version)
Hahaha! Nice video. Good tip to everyone wanting to visit Changi Airport Mall especially the Rain Vortex.
Jewel changi... The whole changi is sooo worth it =)
Best place for transit passengers.
I live in sg and we love the airport =)
I love it too! Already can’t wait to come back ☺️
Same
Hehe made the same mistake :p
I went there with all my luggage because I was too early to check in. I just took a trolley with me,problem solved
I did film one scene while i was in Terminal 3 butterfly garden but i had to wipe that segment off because i could only see 3 butterflies. You're lucky that you managed to see more there.
Woww I’m glad I found your video before me and my family will go there next month in Dec. thanks Janice for sharing this!
Yes we cant wait to visit Singapore again, counting the days😊.
Nenita Carston welcome to Singapore 😄🙏🏻🌈
It's good I watched your vlog. We are going to Singapore next month....and of course wants to visit Jewel too.
Aww man that sucks!! But at least you made the most out of your time there

Hello 👋! Hahaha thanks for attempting to make me feel better 😂
I saw the waterfall from a distance in the sky train and that was already pretty damn cool, I’d imagine it’d be exactly like you said in person!!
Hahaha Omg, can’t believe you missed out the Jewel too Janice!
Lucky you have a chance to see it from the sky train in between terminals.
This is actually great information to share 👍🏻
I think many people out there might do the same as you as they will think the Jewel is inside the airport building so they will check out during transit or after checked in.
hahaha i know right guys!
the trip on the skytrain between the terminals did make up for it though. so cool to see the waterfall up close!
Naz and I always say "We make mistakes so YOU dont have to"!
Way to take one for the team Janice!😁
Hey that is SUCH a good line! It’s so true too , love it!!
Im so glad i watched this. as i want to see jewel and the information online is not very clear. Ive got a flight from terminal 4 and there doesnt seem to be a way to go between the terminals
Should explore the newest terminal in Changi, terminal 4 by taking a shuttle bus from T2
I will do next time! 😊
Google and other YT Vloggers are your best friends. Haven't been to Singapore since the late 90's so I'm really excited to be there this December. Take care.
At 2:10 you can see the time for the next train towards Changi Airport to arrive is 7 Mins
Welcome to transit in Singapore, we learn from our mistake just like what I always did when I had travel out to Vietnam and Thailand before. I hope you would/will return to visit Singapore island again whether inside the Changi Airport or outside/inside Singapore island to see for yourself.
The card system at the food court is probably because they’re anticipating transit passengers that may not have Singapore currency, so only the main counter has to handle the currency exchange
ahh yeah that makes sense
I like the music on this video! Really expresses the frustration or confusion of the situation you experienced lol. But i still like how you worked out how to view the changi jewell! Was great to see!
I think it's more a marketing problem that made you assume that Jewel can be visited after immigrations. I keep seeing non Singaporean media referring to Jewel as the airport when it really is just a mall that is next to/connected to the airport. It's understandable to think that you can visit the place after immigrations.
Oh man, thank you. We were debating this the other night because we will be in Singapore for a day and I thought you could go to it from airside.
Np! Have an amazing trip in Singapore !
Jewel location in landside after immigration if you come from abroad. Or before immigration if you come from Singapore city.
👍👍👍
That means at the moment you thought and said you could reach Jewel but could still take the skytrain, You should be able to reach Jewel. You better take a look at the map of Jewel and the airport.
Okay so I found this video thorugh searching something completely unrelated on youtube. Never have I had such a lucky accident on this website before! Gonna check out the rest of your channel now, byeeee ~~~
What a great video; so informative, too! I enjoyed "travelling" there with you. 🙄🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
thanks for "travelling" with me :)
Oh my God! You are absolutely adorable! So young and so fresh and as cute as a flower. I really wish I had more friends like you I am in my 70s now and of course nobody young and vibrant like you wants to be a friend of an antique. But I have thoroughly enjoyed your journey.
Oh my god!!! I should have watch this video!!! The same stupid thing happened to me 2 days ago 🤦🏽♀️😢😭
Oh no!!! I’m sorry that happened to you too ☹️ I know how you feel Karen 😓
this happened to most of us..
Yes that's what I think too...you're video is gonna save us from making the same mistake! Your advice is precious. Thanks a lot for sharing this experience.
That would be me sleeping in the theater snoring over everything LOLLL
bahahahahahha! that cinema was like a makeshift nap room tbh
Thank you. You have just answered my question and helped me planned my trip. Now I know, to visit Changi Jewel as a day trip during my stay - NOT during stop overs or waiting to embark. Some comments below too shared this sentiment that you have saved a lot of people from making the same mistake.
Can you please explain how to get to Jewel after landing at Singapore? I’m kinda confused about the airport security and stuff works. Thank youuuu
you can get there from any terminal, just ask around:)
hey :) its accessible from any terminal, like Sarah said, but you do need to exit the restricted area (i.e. go through immigration and enter Singapore). once you've gone through arrival immigration there are a bunch of signs that will lead you there.
it's actually pretty obvious... hence why it was such a dumb mistake for me lol
.
Janice Fung thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Sarah Edits thank youu ♥️♥️
this is very handy to know as we travel end of the month and our last day is train from sentosa to the airport. our flight isnt until 6:30pm so we will have about 5/6 hours there. check in bags then explore before heading to departure terminal
Hi Janice, there is a SkyTrain that passes through the jewel from the transit. You can't come out but you get to see the garden and waterfall inside as it pass through.
Anyway no big issues (I thought the butterfly garden is much better) it will still be here when you do come around again. I love char siew too. 😉
thanks Jason -being able to pass through the waterfall was amazing :)
I was surprised that no one told you about seeing the water fall by sky train between T2 to T3!
Janice, you are one of the very FEW RUclipsrs travel people who will admit it when you make a mistake. Most of the time, all you hear are people blaming everyone else when travel does not go as planned or as hoped.
Is so so good your video, so so informative, you really did a great work filming inside Singapore airport you give me a lot of ideas of what to do inside Singapore airport looking that I have 5 hour's between flights, thanks to you I will visit few terminals and I will upload on RUclips but for sure I will not be that good like you, how you do this presentation, congratulations and keep filming wherever you go 👍👍👍
come back again!! LOL.. australia and sg only 8 hours away.
Yeah I definitely intend to!
Very sad you couldnt go inside the jewel. why are your vlogs so entertaining i love them so much
I just found this video by random and thoroughly enjoyed it. You’re very sincere and pleasant to listen to. Thank you for the video.
thank you so much for watching - glad you enjoyed it!
There's so much to shop and eat at Changi, you could easily spend hours between 3 terminals. Try their staff canteen for local food options at non-airport prices!
Yea I’ll do that next time!!
@@JaniceFung They're in Public Areas of each terminals FYI... ;)
Haha was it worth it though?
Way to go.
Thank you so much for checking the video out I appreciate it!
And I hope you’re right too 😉🤞🏻
I guess you must have did all your Googling after the "mishap". :)
Curious, but why didn't you visited the Jewel when you touch down? When Jewel was built, the intent was also for locals coz usually we sometimes visit the airport during weekends as a shopping area. By making the place accessible for locals, it also helps to sustain the shops rather than totally dependent on business travellers and tourists who might be rushing in and out of Singapore.
So fret not, if you are here in SG next time, I can always bring you out to explore from a local eyes. :)
Btw, the char siew noodle looks really crappy, coz you can get the same at $3 to $3.50 at hawker centres but it is the airport, so it is understandable.
I arrived in SG at like 8 / 830 pm? And just wanted to get to my hostel and call it a night
Also, makes a lot of sense re the card system, thanks Alvin!
I just saw the jewel in my 2.5 hours overlay. I took the train T3 two times back and forth to get some good pictures and still enjoy the scenario.
Thanks for sharing, it was fun to watch and listen to your explanations.
I so enjoy your videos(also how lovely to see/meet your wonderful parents!)
Please continue my dear!
Hello there! I guess RUclips do know how to link your video (I just came home to Singapore from Sydney) and I'm thankful for that. You are incredibly positive. I wouldn't know what I will do if I'm in that situation. Keep going, very good informative video~
hello! i'm glad you liked the video :)
were you in sydney for a holiday? hope you had a good one!!
I got a chuckle out of the movie theatre part, it turned into a layover sleeping spot lol! But the butterfly garden and the waterfall scene wow :O
It recently went to jewel. Awesome place
Was it amazing to see it in person?? Did u try any of the canopy walks etc? ☺️
Almost didn't post this video and it turned out to be your most watched video. What an interesting turn of events :)
