1:45 the most epic master I’ve ever heard
MMMHAAAAster
Indeed, that was awesome! I don't know if that break at 6:08 was wanted or not, but it was pure fire, too. James at his best! 🤟
"HAMMETT: I’ll tell you how the main [descending] riff to “Master of Puppets” came about. On the Ride the Lightning tour, James would always play the riff in the dressing room, but on the D string, and I’d play it simultaneously on the G string as a parallel-fourths harmony line. It sounded really dorky and funny. Then one day at rehearsal, James said, “Let me show you this really heavy song intro,” and proceeded to play that exact riff on the low E string. I said, “Ah, so you finally found a use for that dorky little thing!” It’s anything but dorky now."
"HETFIELD: I remember writing the chorus to "Master of Puppets" in our living room and thinking it was too commercial, too obvious. "If it's too easy, something's wrong." That was kind of the Metallica mantra. Lars said, "No, no, it's really good, It's catchy." I thought, 'Well, maybe I'm the melody, catchy guy, and that's okay'. Cliff was certainly a big part of the [writing] process. Musically, he was so well respected, that we'd often look to him for modulations, or where the next part should come from, or go. He just knew."
"HAMMETT: We were drinking at the Carlson house one night, and Lars turned on the tape deck: "Listen to this, man. Fostex Multitrack Mesa/Boogies with James playing the heaviest riff ever!" It was the main riff to 'Master of Puppets', which had been quadrupled on all four tracks and sounded super heavy. And I knew it immediately as this joke riff that James would always play on the D string. He just dropped it down to the low E string and it was suddenly this whole other thing."
Your thinking of the wrong riff
@@bls8959What do you mean?
1:44 MMMMMASTER
In my opinion, Nagoya 1986 is my favorite Metallica show! What a huge sound! James sounds totally perfect, Lars plays so stronger than ever, Kirk is burning and Jason was becoming a huge monster. These was the Masters of Puppets!
Solo was fucked though. Still a really good performance pretty true to the studio version
Seattle '89 was also so good
That because they have spirit of clif burton's death
In canada too
@@user-p6-3561 not really just a little bit sloppy
I think this was at the Budokan. I had just moved to Yakota AFB with my parents and had just turned 18. I remember riding the trains to Tokyo for the first time. It may have been somewhere else because I saw allot of bands at the Budokan but I'm pretty sure that's where we went.
Some of those riffs are played so fast, that’s insane
Pretty easy on guitar
@@ppcacaballs9400 downpicking at this speed is not easy, it's significantly faster than the recording
i wouldnt say easy, but everything is relative i guess :>. loosing my breath just watching Puppets live, just thinking bout the downpicking and tempo for so long, but thats why i love them. Their songs take me along for the ride in body and mind. its worth the exhaustion. WUHHH
@@cdsmetalhead99i can play at this speed downpicking and im 12 years old and been playing guitar for 2 months
@@_death_8570I doubt it but If that's true cheers, i dont really believe that
6:09 the eneergyyyyy
WOW the riffs are SO FAST BACK THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6:07 Look at how pissed James got when he messed up
A very angry dude in general
Pretty sure he played like that on purpose because he plays it like that live, or maybe ur just joking and im stupid
@@mr.boombastic7509
It was a mess up, not to be A D*ck but if you listened to the song many times you’d hear it too.
@@youreokayboah2128 i'm sure we'll never know, but if it is staged, Jaymz is a pretty good actor hhahaah
That must be just pure rage, botching the main riff all by yourself after such a big build up is irritating at best
Even though they never stop and still do take breaks in one way or another, sometimes you just can't stop the pain/cramp in your hands, which is what we're seeing here, i think so
Ha didn’t get catch that the first time
Faster of Puppets
Literally they’re 45 seconds faster
🤣
Pastor of Muppets
The best metallica of 1986
I love how James says ”Puppets” Puoppets
He’s always done that for some reason
@@TheDavidish its called an accent
@@arcy3752 it’s not, tho. he said it back in the day but not anymore and not on the studio recording
@@TheDavidish some people just pronounce stuff differently on different occasions
this video gives me chills
I was at the first show they ever preformed this live back in the '80's! It was in Wichita Kansas on March 27, 1986 when Ozzy opened his tour there. It was the second time that I seen them with Cliff on Bass, and both as an opening act! It was the last time that I ever seen them live, sadly.. 😢
3:14 that got to be one of the funniest master I ever heard
huh? what was even remotely funny about that
@@ben1ben The entire thing. The songs ridiculous. I love it.
@@AttiMatter huh how is it ridiculous????

No…it’s the title song of the album Master Of Puppets.
@@youreokayboah2128No shit Sherlock. He is saying that this live version sounds like a version of Puppets that could have been in Kill Em All.

thx for clipping dis now i can download it easier
hope u do the same with every song of the remixed seattle 89 show when it comes out in november
Holy fucking shit. How the fuck do they play that fast downstroking 😵🤯🤘🤘
Because they play not only downstroke but alternating with a variable stroke. They play crookedly, some of the notes are generally bypassed. Solo is absolutely terrible. Full desynchron of drums, bass and rhythm. Terrible performance. It would be better to play slowly but accurately. Metallica have never been able to play well, a very technically weak band. But people love it.
@@Arseniy_Lugovskoy yeah no one can disagree they're a technically weak as hell band, but fabtastic writers
@@Arseniy_Lugovskoy and yeah that solo part was all over the fucking place. But they've always said when they were in their 20s they tried every show to play faster and faster, and this is what you get. Sloppy playing. But when they were in the studio in those years, they made gold
@@Arseniy_Lugovskoy HOLY SHIT BRO WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU???
