Agreed with the comment of the whole Battle of Trafalgar schtick they are going with this. If someone told me that there was a watch made to hark back to Admiral Nelson's ships I would imagine it to look like those white dialled marine chronometers with Roman numerals instead.
I adore your channel ! and not just because of the topic - watches! - but also for your lively presentation that always start with a big whole hearted "Hello and welcome to just one more watch!" god bless you, you can uplift spirits much faster than a shrink or any substance :)
I completely agree with you on the branding. They've definitely gone too far the other way now. That aside though, it's a really well spec'd and good looking watch. I always like to see brands take advantage of how thin the Miyota 9015 is. I'd like to see more brands use this movement.
The Miyota 9 is a great in-between for the NH35 and SW200. If WIS don't like the uni-directional rotor then I guess they also won't be buying a Valjoux 7750 powered watch or a Patek, lol.
I couldn't care less about the misguided promo stuff because the watch looks like a winner to me. I like that the case takes advantage of the thin 9015 so the lovely crystal doesn't make the package too tall overall. And the case is really a looker! I'm actually a fan of 9015, too, and would choose it every time over a 2824. A comparison between the Flagship (yes, the font is a bit weird, but that doesn't break my squelch for even a niggle) and an NTH sub seems obvious. Top notch bracelets (BoR available as an accessory on NTH), 9015, thin, well constructed... The Axios is quite a bit less expensive than an NTH.
Honestly, they should have just admitted that these Flagships are inspired by Star Trek's aesthetic/design. The black/gold one is even called "Defiant" or such ;) ... Partly, it's got to be that Axios logo - it's just such a star-trek-y shape.
My wrist is just over 8", and I wear this watch on the second last adjustment on the clasp. This week I'm alternating with a Samurai on a hexad bracelet and the Axios is *not* heavy. You're comparing it to a Casio, Jody :-) Oh, and =Hardy= was Captain of the Victory. Nelson was Admiral of the Fleet. Tut tut.
I feel it does bridge well to modern times. Well done Axios! And I do agree that the logo is spot on and the teal color is great ... and that lume ... surprising! Great review. Thanks for sharing 🙂👍🏻
Love the watch, the dial is symmetrical with the date window @6 and nice to see the background of the date matching the dial colour. Beads of rice is my favourite strap and love the logo, look similar to the Star Trek logo, perhaps that’s where they the ship theme ? Not sure if I would pay £350 but it definitely floats my boat or should I say ship
I agree. Anytime someone designs a watch with its own look it is a good thing. I like the way the sub looks also but I don’t want 6 watches that look like that. As long as the watchmaker is doing there own thing thats fine by me.

My only issue is that as someone who did already buy an Ironclad, I'm a bit disappointed their second watch was another dive watch.
Always appreciate the transparency and objective reviews, especially the sponsored ones. The colorway you picked looks great and always good to see less common colors translate in the metal, but do agree on the over-branding.
Love the new lighting, like in the last video in the intro and outro. I agree the watch is confusing, especially with the teal, it's vintage and modern at the same time and I don't think it works.
I love the ship on the case back. I'll admit that it may not necessarily be consistent with the design, but it's a welcomed visual. I'll definitely take it over 900 octopi on one watch.
Love it, just pushed the button on the teal version or the victory, agree navel link a bit tenuous, but no more so than the Rado captain Cook, I suppose. Great review helped me pick this colourway, as normally opt for black on black, hopefully I dont regret it. Blue on blue not for me, the mixed variant has sold out, so get your while you still can. After possessing this watch, the biggest gripe I have with it is the minute track. Many sections only have 3 minute markings instead of the 4 between indices. It drives me nuts. Once you notice it you can’t unsee it. It went unnoticed for me until I went to set the time to 6:01.
The Defiance is the pick of the bunch for me. That one looks a belter to me. I suspect that they got carried away with the motion of a flagship watch for the brand and didn't know when to stop with the navy analogies.

Great the introduction: "The branding is lame and you will look silly wearing this. Anyway, let's flip the camera and have a look at it" :). Still, i watched the rest of the video and i think it's nice time piece. I'm sure Capt. Nelson and Capt. James T. Kirk would love it.
I like it, and they picked the right Japanese movement for it. I'm not as conflicted about the marketing as you. I just wish that more microbrands would offer day-date complication and/or sellita/ETA movements.
I really like this one. I don't know why watch companies think i care about the inspiration for the design. Just make something that looks good and leave it at that.
Another nice video, i feel its a nice watch, and personally the branding isn't an issue for me. The case back is rarely seen by me, and i like the lume on the dial . I 'm having a hard time with $500.00 , with that said i know the micros have a hard time competing with the majors, but i feel they need to be a bit closer.
And then you have the Greek naming. Axios or Άξιος in Greek means worthy and it comes by the cousin company Zelos or Ζήλος in Greek which means zeal. Hmmmmm... By the way perhaps another close rival to it could be the Heinrich Taucher currently on kickstarter were it can be found little way above the $600 barrier and it is German made equipped with a Sellita SW-200-1.
I love the bracelet and Really like that watch over all! I Would probably order one right now however I just ordered a Zelos Mako 3.... have to hold off until the budget allows... Thanks for an entertaining and very informative review...as always!

Don't worry if you don't like this one,If they take after their cousins, there will be another one along very soon
Have mine with the watermelon bezel in the Finnish customs at the moment 🙂 100€ tax on top of the price, but I see this option still economical as my other option for my first diver was a Doxa 300T. Rubber strap on doxa site alone was 300-400€ if I'm not mistaken and out of stock in orange. I think this is a fun watch with solid looks (I hope I still feel that way in couple of days when I actually get it)👍
I think you put into words, well music, what was off about this watch for me. I do think that black dial and gilt is the best looker tho... but it’s got bits and bobs that remind me of Zodiac, Rado but also Zelos.... not for me, but maybe the next one!
I am more drawn to the T-shirt than the watch itself. It is amazing how the Corona outbreak hasn't dampened your enthusiasm for producing these reviews. Thumbs up would be an understatement.

A little to high. Considering I am wearing box. Dombed Sappire & miyota 9000 series movement bright lume ceramic bezel. Tisell for $220 . this one is over double
Another great review. I agree on all of your points. I do like the naming conventions of the different colorways , but, the time period and the story of the battle of Trafalgar doesn't necessarily match up with the design of these watches u mentioned. But, I still think the different names the colorways sounds cool none the less. I have the Temeraire version, the one with the light teal and light orange bezel. It may be thre hardest bezel to read between the 4 variants, but I think we are all familiar with the scale and layout of a dive time bezel and can visually guesstimate what time is where on a bezel. I just like the splash of colors on this one and in some ways looks like what a faded Pepsi bezel might look like over time. The Temeraire really does remind me of a Zodiac Seawolf and one of their more colorful variants which I like because it's not a direct copy of any watch design but gives you a similar feel. Overall, The Watch so far is very well-built, very nice looking, very comfortable, and I do find the prices within reason. Lastly, I believe the 4 Color variants different Limited Edition numbers. I believe the black Gilt Defiance version may be limited to 150 oh, the teal Victory dial version you have looks like it's limited to 200, and the Temeraire version that I have maybe the fewest being limited to 100. I'm not sure what the limited numbers are on the all blue Ajax version? It's not bad looking, but, I agree that one is the most safe and least exciting of all the colors.
