You’ll be commended for your superb job on explaining the breakdown of running a mobile dog grooming business and how savvy you are with managing money.👏👍🏻😊
The Salary figure covers all the personal expenses... so, the $2490.00 would not be additional, bringing the real monthly expenses to $5265. This would bring the price per dog down to more like $60.
AH!! Thank you for pointing this out!! At first I didn't have the salary in the business expenses and then I put it in later which threw me off. I made the correction in the description.
This insanely helpful and so easy to follow once you see it on paper. Im finishing up grooming school in Largo, FL and starting my own mobile grooming business shortly there after. Thanks for the video!
I'm trying to start up my own mobile salon. As a mother of two that also is trying to take care of their sick parent. Your videos have helped me soo so much! Thank you for helping me plan!
Wow! I'm so glad I found your channel! You are very intelligent and well spoken. You make this so simple and straightforward. Super helpful!!! Thank You!!!
I was thinking of starting a Mobile dog wash business in winter park Fl, you are very educated and I’m glad to see you are working so close to me. I hope to see you around! You are inspiring
I think they could use this in a high school or even college personal business course, just to help people to "start the business on paper" before going down the personal business path. This young woman is "squared away" in my opinion. thanks for posting.
Thank you so much, I currently have my own pet sitting business and house call grooming but and going to get a grooming trailer which is going to grow my business a bunch and it's great to see these numbers broken down and what I need to look at before buying the trailer
Thank you for making this video. I have been planning for a few months now and Im looking to start my own Grooming business, branching out from my successful business of petsitting. You really give some good advice on budgeting and it makes more sense the way you are explaining it. Keep up the Pawesome work and dont stop making more of these videos. Stay Pawesome :)
Im looking at your calculations and if you’re paying yourself, are you using that to deduct your personal expenses with? If not, thats a huge chunk of change 3k. Thats not a break even is it, if you are plus 3k, did i miss something?
U could save 250 car + 100 gas by owning only the business car and driving this. Also have the cellphone as a business phone cause this is missing on the left side of the calculations, its tax deductable. Also, why need a garage safes u another 1000 Dollar per year, instead get a insurance for a possible break in. I dont know your booking app but 90 Dollar is another 1000 Dollar per year, is it worth it? Basically, u have potential to bring your costs down immensly and enjoy more profit for a cruise, why work for others, do it for yourself.
Thank you soo much for making these videos! Please make more of these and I will be watching every single one from now on, so helpful and something someone even in malaysia (like me) can apply to my start up. Love it, subscriber for liffee!!
Love this! It’s so helpful! I’m in school right now learning how to groom and I’m hoping in the future to do this myself! I’m curious on how to get your name out there. How would you go about getting your info around town? I would think word of mouth and social media would bring some but until you get a good following you’d be at a stand still.
Very helpful info. Thank you for your dedication to this community 🌹& if you can share did you buy your van already set up for grooming or you customize yourself?
Thank you for breaking it down like this. How would you suggest someone to open their biz? Full time or part time first? I'm just afraid to jump all in full time and not have enough clients. Been grooming 10 years but will be starting fresh with no clients because I'm in a new area (fort myers, FL) I want to hopefully buy a trailer cash when income taxes come in in order to not have a payment on it
Hello there How are you doing Hope all is good I like what you doing I have been following you and I like to ask your help I got my Beens Sprinter 3500 can I use to start this business ?? Thank you looking for your reply
I don't know when you post this, but this was all I could find for grooming budgeting thank you. If you have the time I'd like to talk about my situation and get your advice. Just let me know what your fee is thank you in advance.
Hello! Awesome video explaining and breaking it down very succinct.. I read the correction 😊👍🏼 question: Do you have a protocols and procedures manual? We are starting a mobile dog groomer and will be hiring the groomer, I am looking for procedure samples and don’t see much online. I’m starting to write them myself-😐 Thank you for any feedback.
Hi, thanks for the content! Dear, how do the booking app deal with the distance x time between the bookings? I don't know if Im being clear but, for example, you have one booking for 10am and another one to 1h later but, just the distance between the customers is around 20/30min... It can mess the schedule a lot, right? Thanks again, Eduardo
Hi there!! Love your videos! It has been very helpful. I have a question. What do you do in a situation when your clientele lives in an area where the ONLY WAY to park your van is by a "pay by phone" parking lot? How would charge that in your grooming service?
Hi! Thank you so much! I would just let the client know in advance that parking fee will be added to the total of the groom. Most clients will be aware of the parking situation and have offered to pay the parking for me in advance.
I live in Miami and I have checked prices in Orlando and other cities in Florida and the prices are usually very similar. I’d like to get into the mobile grooming business, I have some grooming experience, after working in a salon for 4 years. I wonder if adding a partner to this business would be profitable? I mean, charging at least $100 for a small dog so we both can make a buck, isn’t that a little too much? Any advise?
Hi, it all depends on what your overhead costs, expenses, and salary are. $100 for a small dog is not too much if the service you are providing matches the price. I wouldn’t worry about what other people in your area are charging. Do the formula with one other person involved (you would need to add another salary to your expenses). If I were wanting to start a business with a partner I would make sure my business expenses such as the van payment is significantly low or paid off completely. Also, be very clear what your business partner’s duties are going to be. Will they be grooming too or just an assistant? How much will they be investing? Those factors will effect their salary and your overhead expenses.
Isn’t she double counting her salary? Her salary is her personal expenses. So if she’s really making 7695/month she’s really paying herself almost $6000/month
Hey girl!! I’ve watched your videos, I’ve talked about it forever I need to make those first baby steps to get the ball rolling on my mobile business. I think you offered a boss program, I’d really like to check it out, I am more than ready financially to start this endeavor. Like buy the van out right ready. Also had some questions like do I register my llc then order the van I have mental list of all these things I need to do but don’t know where to start 1st!! , I’ve done some research with Hanvey and WAggin Tails. I worked in a Hanvey and liked it because it seemed simple but I don’t think they can power those k9 dryers. Also any referrals for using someone to build my website, cards, building my brand etc. I saw waggin tails offers some help but didn’t know if I could save money else where. I highly value your input u seem very on top of it and business savvy. My New Years wish for 2023 was to start this mobile journey, I’ve still got some time so I need to bust some A$$. Thanks for reading! Hope to hear from u soon.

In this scenario $88 is the full haircut and bath for a small breed dog but remember you determine the price you charge based on your own expenses and value you are providing for the client.
Hi Jaime, not sure how you came up with $570 but in this scenario I simply found the lowest amount one can charge for a small breed dog with the expenses above. If you are upgrading grooming packages, doing medium and large breed dogs, and even grooming cats your profit vs expenses is well worth the work you put in. Smart groomers do not charge for their time- they charge for their value making their profit margin well worth it.
Aren't you paying yourself twice? 3000 in one column, 2480 in the other, adding them all up to get the 7695. So, doing just 4 dogs a day, you're paying yourself 5480 a month. Which is nice, don't get me wrong! I'm just saying, you're paying yourself twice in this model, which is where you're coming up with 88 dollars a dog. On that note, why only 4 dogs a day? It seems low. I know driving around affects your time.
Mobile should be about quality not so much quantity. If you are starting out 4 grooms a day is a comfortable number especially if you are taking big dogs as well. Burn out in the grooming community is real and was something I went through the first year of my business. Mobile is all about grooming less dogs a day while charging more because of convenience, expertise, and undivided/personalized attention.
God this is all so good! I'm addicted to your videos! thank you for.dropping such great knowledge.
3 years ago or not! these hold up!!!
Thank you for this comment!! I appreciate you.
I am going mobile and found this very informative. Thanks for the breakdown!

I’m glad you mentioned that. As soon as I saw that, I thought it was wrong.
Thank you, I noticed that too and got a little confused.. great job explaining!!
After you take 20% to set aside for income tax?
Or you keep it like it is and your salary becomes $5490 or you have a profit of $2490 for growth or reinvestment
Thank you so much for posting this. With starting up my own business in the next few months, this was very helpful! ❤

awwww omgthat face! 😘😍
This is great! Thank you 😎
Thank you so much. This was a wonderful video. Would you mind sharing if your van was bought new or used with the $1200 payment? Did you put any down?

Interesting 👍thank you

Thanks so much! What all is covered under the liability insurance?
Hello there How are you doing Hope all is good I like what you doing I have been following you and I like to ask your help I got my Beens Sprinter 3500 can I use to start this business ?? Thank you looking for your reply

I understand you work for yourself but does this include insurance if the groomer gets injured? Such as if you got a second van and a employee.
How can I easily figure out how much product I am using to determine the cost of each groom?
Hello! Awesome video explaining and breaking it down very succinct.. I read the correction 😊👍🏼 question: Do you have a protocols and procedures manual? We are starting a mobile dog groomer and will be hiring the groomer, I am looking for procedure samples and don’t see much online. I’m starting to write them myself-😐

So for all dogs we have to charge them $88 dollars but big dogs we have charge them more then that.

So if the 4 dogs a day including travel and such equals 8 hours a day. Then you are only making $17 an hour.
Awesom video!! Do I need a permit to work out of a van to groom in a truck? I live in nyc
Hi there!! Love your videos! It has been very helpful. I have a question. What do you do in a situation when your clientele lives in an area where the ONLY WAY to park your van is by a "pay by phone" parking lot? How would charge that in your grooming service?

Hey nice video. If you dont mind me asking how much down did you put? $1200 is a great price.
awesome video. Thank you. for your salary, do you just make a transfer from your business checking account to your personal bank account?
Manuel Marquez No problem!!! Yes, exactly :)
Omg Mooney is too much ❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍
If you are taking 3,000 for salary then why do you need to add on 2,430 ? X thank you x
I put the correction in the description below stating that I accidentally added the salary twice! So you are correct- no need to add on the 2,430
Hows that 4 dogs a day, 5 days a week is 88 by month ? 🤨
Can’t you use cell phone as a business expense, or do you ONLY use the booking app for client contact?
If I buy a van outright do I still add on van so can pay myself back from what I payed on the van? X
Yes, that would be a great idea and that way you could possibly buy another van and grow or somehow put it back into your business.
I live in Miami and I have checked prices in Orlando and other cities in Florida and the prices are usually very similar. I’d like to get into the mobile grooming business, I have some grooming experience, after working in a salon for 4 years. I wonder if adding a partner to this business would be profitable? What account do you put your 20% for taxes in?
Do you wash your own towels or do you have a towel service?
I wash my own towels
Isn’t she double counting her salary? Her salary is her personal expenses. So if she’s really making 7695/month she’s really paying herself almost $6000/month
Yes I put the edit in the description
Do you take cash for payment or recommend a card service??
I do take cash and record it on my card service. I use square to take CC payments
