In this video I secretly entered my own game jam. It was a pretty fun experience and I'm pretty happy with the game that I have made.
About me:
Hey, I'm BenBonk, an indie game developer who uses the Unity Engine. I've made and released many small games before on my itch page, though now I'm attempting to make my first commercial game, Slimekeep. Slimekeep is a roguelike, using a very limited color palette, similar to Enter the Gungeon, though with a few interesting mechanics, such as keeping slimes alive longer will earn you more money, and the ability to capture slimes to power up your slime pet. If you enjoyed anything you saw, please consider subscribing, as it really helps me out.
Music used is the Streets of Rogue OST, levels 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 themes, composed by Craig Barnes

Cool idea man, was a good call adding the fuel mechanic to give the game a bit more depth.
I would have joined if I had time. It's a shame, cause I love that jam theme.
Thanks, and no problem, maybe I can catch you in the next BenBonk game jam.
You could also make a game in 4 days or whatever the time was with the theme for fun

Yup, I really like how it sounds, and I think it fits the video's theme perfectly.
“Successfully crash into walls”
ok
Good work denyum on getting featured in this vid and well done Ben for showing Streets of Rogue some love
I feel like theres an opportunity to turn the thing where you can press space bar mid level to change speed into just a normal mechanic, and then make something about overall time in the level. it could be a neat balancing act of moving fast to keep the time down and moving slower to make those tighter turns. and that would be amplified as the level constricts on itself as you play the level more and get used to it.
If you made this have infinite levels you could do 1-tile or less gaps once REALLY far in
Wow your channel has grown so much! I subbed when you had 1k subscribers

This is like one of those secret agent movies, only with a game jam
(He snuck into the game jam, no-one noticed his elusive move)
Tip for Beepbox: There's a menu with a bunch of different modes, and you were using "easy :)" mode. To get all the notes, choose "expert" mode. (I don't know if you knew this already, just letting you know lol.)
Thanks for letting me know. I'm pretty sure I switched to expert once but was thrown off by all the new notes and things. Though I might give it a shot if I make music in beepbox again.
@@BenBonk Sure thing :)
0:58, I guess you could say, the possibilities were *limitless*
Ill see myself out...
Feedback that’s too late to even matter, from somebody who hasn’t played the game:
If the movement was tile based like snake and Pacman then 1 block turns would’ve been easier without having to make the shit slower, assuming you can hold-buffer turns. Possibly.
When the stage is in the first stage, the screen transition every time you die is a bit much to look at. It appearing later makes sense since the level is changing back.

Haha awesome idea to enter anonymously!! Sad I couldn't join the jam this time ㅠㅠ
Should have made a boost mechanic by holding the arrow key it would use more fuel but give you a big speed boost
why you don't try make a 3D game
or, you can't do that?
Epic reference
Wow, this reference is pretty t h i c c
Idea. Infinite mode that once you die in walls a apear. Then the walls get closer and closer by a multiplicative amount (diminisheing) until the change is irrelevant and you get your score.

except it makes no sense, since there's no "down" in space.
How do you know this is in space and not just in high atmosphere of earth, then
If this was possible during the timeframe, which it definitely would not be, Id make a galaxy exploration game where every time you die, the galaxy shrinks
You should make the rocket have free movement and add acceleration to it. I think it would add a lot of flow and fun to the game.
I believe in Streets of Rage OST supremacy
I think you should have make rocket particles to world space to turning wasn't feel so sharp. Good game though!
what palette do you use in aseprite i really like the colors and i want to use it

City of rogue soundtrack at intro, pretty sure

How did you make that ‘scratching’ sound in your theme song?
