@userpipe It might be possible to put a pedal in the FX loop and then assign the FX loop on/off to CTL1. But then every pedal in the loop would be turned on so it might be better to just put them all in the loop and turn them on or off one by one. That's how I have it connected.
I appreciate your videos on the GT10. Very educational, not only for how to use the pedal board but also how to get the tone you are looking for. Thanks
Yes I have, I find the TS to be a little grainy and dark. The Bad Monkey has a more organic distortion and has more presence. That's just my opinion and some may disagree but that's my take on it.
That's a whooooole lot of work to get that one tone man. But I'll tell you that's a very sweet sound, and spot on like Gibbons' man. This is the kind of work an artist will put in to paint his picture perfect.
Dear Glenn, many thanks for all your efforts. You assist all guitar player all over the world. Now I`m proud to say that I also be within the GT 10 family. The EZ Tone is really greate to find great tones in a short term. For sure, the EQ is often needed in addition to decrease especially the high (6.3-10 kh) and low frequency (< 100 hz).
It's easy, the send jack from the GT-10 goes into the input of your external pedal and the output of the external pedal goes into the return jack on the GT-10. The you have to turn on the S/R loop in the GT-10. I believe this is on a patch by patch basis so if you want to use it on all your patches you will have to manually turn it on on every patch and then save the patch. Then you can move the S/R loop around in the FX chain to the GT-10 to get the best sound.
Nice work and thanks for showing us GT-10 owners some tips to program. I wish there was a DVD to learn more about the GT-10. Im going to checkout all your stuff patches etc.
hey man i just bought a gt10 and your videos have been a great help thnx!! awesome sound, your ear for a great tone is impeccable. good job and plz keep up the gt10 videos plz:)
No man you don't "need" those extra pedals. In fact this video was done so long ago about a year after I did this video i abandoned the other pedals because they weren't needed. Everything you need as far as distortion is in this thing. I just experimented with alot of extra stuff. I just had a big pedal board and didn't want any extra spaces LOL
Great Stuff Glenn! I was always hoping to see the EVH early type Brown sound demo. That is such a tricky tone to nail right on. You must have a very good knowledge of eq/frequency so that when you create tones, you probably already have an idea in your head where some of the values would be. That is the mark of a true professional. You Rock! Peace
Great Video! My Boss GT-10 is supposed to be delivered today!! I'm going to try your settings out and see how it sounds on my equipment! (Guitar: EB Axis, Full Range amp.)
I´m fine, thanx... i got a Peavey Studio Pro 112, second hand but almost new, i did turn down all amp´s controls (bass, mid and treble) and my GT-10 sound great
Part 1, Hi Glenn, first of all: thank you for the great videos and your efforts. Many years I play the POD and POD XT in my home studio and it sounds great, especially when I combine the modeller with tube preamps (e.g. tube factor etc.). But this belongs with regards to headphones and nice monitor speakers. The challenge is since years to get also a great and assertive sound in the rehearsal room, where you have to fight against real drums and Marshall-stacks.
Outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!! SOOO glad to have some BOSS GT vids. I love my GT and enjoy watching, learning and listening to all your vids PLEASE -- Keep up the great work (especially for the Boss Vids) Could you perhaps do a vid to show your GLOBAL setting and setups on your GT ? That would be awesome.
Well I use pedals and amps too, They are the best. I just like tinkering around with these things. Actually though as modelers go Boss does have some of the best sounding FX out there. Maybe not as good as Axe FX but for sure just as good as Line6, Digitech, Zoom, Vox, Fender modelers. You should have a look at the new Boss GT-100 though. I have done a few videos using the new unit.
@thewonkhotline Can't comment on the new GT-100 yet. Waiting on mine to come in. If you are unsure about your purchase then wai about a month till people start getting the new GT-100
Well Thanks for watching anyway. Have you checked out the new GT-100 yet?? That one does sounds much better. I think they did make some progress with the new one. Boss will never get into the Axe FX or Kemper Ballpark though. They are alone at that level. Those are the only "modelers" that really sound like real amplifiers & tubes. But no modeler will ever beat real Marshall's
ya I own a Me-20 by Boss and I know it is cheaper than a Pod xt Live but the POD's have a more natural and less digital sound which is very nice and also better distortions which I find are a harder theme in general to get right.
I've had the GT-10 for a while. I'm not a noob with playing but totally down the road with programing it. Your vids have given me good inspiration for which I'm thankful. Also totally LOVE watch you play, using that thumb finger pick. I connect via USB, (I get no sound from pc speakers, have to use amp for that, dunno why) but I can't seem to get the kind of tones/sounds you do. It's not all that bad but still a hughe difference.
Part 4, So what could you recommend?: 1. Better PA or a good active monitor for guitar only? Do you have experience? 2. Power amp and 4x12 speaker cabinet (then of course without speaker simulation) I am willing to spend money that is for sure. But in the moment I think it will be the best to go back to the roots. Marshall Amp+Chorus+Tube Screamer done and ready!!! Only one sound but a sound.
Hey, great video! Have you ever done any presets for Boston? I'd like to "nail" the sound for 'A Man I'll Never Be'. I have to play both piano & help out with rhythm guitar for that song. Any help would be appreciated. Again thanks!
@extremevideopro It now has a much, much more natural sound to it, and pretty much all of that fizz and digital aspect is almost non existent. Def going to recomend this video to anybody who has one, as it will no doubt help them in getting whatever tone they want, it's an amazing starting point (as I play mostly metal) and a great patch as well. Cheers!
Hey Glen loving the tones! Can you help us out witha kicking early Van Halen tone on the GT10? - not loving the 10 Eruption preset to be honest Go on you know you want to......... Ace!!Thanks again.
Glenn, you're the only person I can think of that might know the answer to this. I am attempting to use a custom speaker setup on the GT-10 and was curious if you know the proper settings to most adequately emulate any of the following speaker types; 25W Greenbacks, 75W Celestions, or Vintage 30's? I am guessing this is going to be in the Color Low and Color High settings, but I suspect some modification to the preamp tone settings might also be necessary. Thanks.
@extremevideopro ahhh ok, so i can configure the specific extension pedal (od/ds) into the gt-10 loop for eg. comp, preamp. [OD/DS] etc.... and i'd just control it manually? thanks again for the awesome vids! and tones! (coz i us ur tones!)
@extremevideopro Thanks for the reply - I am purchasing an ADA B200s (2-channels 100w each) - I am debating on buying two ADA 2x12 cabinets in order to use the dual feature - is this a good idea or can the feature still be used with one cabinet? Also - is it a feature that you would use regularly? Thanks again - I am just getting back into playing after a 5 year break and your videos are inspiring - can't wait to get the gt-10.
I feel ya, I just wish there were processors with better foot control functionality. I mean If I'm gigging I don't have time to do something like that on the fly. Creating a preset to all of what 2 of the actual programmable buttons on that is impractical for the price . Unless I'm way off, cuz I do admit I don't know a hole lot about those things. I had a Digitech floor processor a while back but got rid of it for allot of reasons.
Hi Glenn you are truly inspirational i have a FV500 and want to connect to gt10 want it as my master volume pedal and the onboard gt10 pedla to be an expression pedal. Need guidance as i plug guitar jack output to fv500h input and fb500h output to gt 10 of thats the right pattern or please guide on the settings
Nice video.! Could you be so kind as to answer a question for me? I bought the Boss GT-10 to get my son more involved in playing his guitar. It worked well with a little cheap fender amp. Lots of nice sounds were achieved. I have since bought him a better amp.Line 6 Valve MKII 212. Amp sounds really good, but adding GT-10 sounds like crap. Is using the GT-10 with this amp like taking a step backwards, or is there a way to hook it up for a better sound? Thanks for any help.
I know. I have seen and rated them all! I meant could you record a demo video where you create one of your patches, such as the blues or metal ones. Just a thought. Loved your Zeppelin tribute, by the way. That was awesome!
Hi, i´m from chile and i want to congratulate you for the videos, are really awesome, you have a very nice sound and i appreciate to do this videos to teach us a little bit more about this great multieffects. i have a little question for you. can i mute the boss gt 10 to the amp and still listening by my phones? sorry for my english i hope you understand me! jeep on this greats videos
hey Glenn , thanx for the helpful vids , very informative . Question : have you adjusted the Gtr Input , level up and presence down ? if so , it would be good to include this in the patch description . but again nice patches and solid playing , ThanxaLot
But there are many, many more possibilities to tweak the sound (Input Select/Output EQ, Tone modify, different speakers, mics, mic positions….) that influence the sound / frequency. You know, after hours of tweaking, often it result in more false positives. What are the main tools you use? What is a must in your opinion? Thanks in advance!
Part 2, In my opinion totally different requirements. Maybe the X3 sound a little bit better for this requirement but no one (you too) test it really. It is also a shame that Line 6 or Boss still not offer a power amp/cabinet combination for this issue. Wouldn´t it be nice to programming at home and use these sounds also in a live situation?
Ok, nice vid, thanks. So if you had to choose between Boss GT-10 and Line 6 HD300 (400 and 500) for use in both studio and live gigs which one would be your choice and why? That's the difficult question for me at the moment ... Thanks!
@jt93guitar Also, i've found a factory sound that i like, how would i add that to one of my own banks? and is the difference between a U01 and P01 that users can change the U01 banks.. if that makes sense, sorry if i'm not very clear
@extremevideopro right, i know how to create a sound using eztone, i have clicked on the write button, it has saved to a bank, on the number 2 control, how do i save other custom patches to the same bank, on numbers 1 3 and 4?
Hi Glenn I really appreciate all your demos but have a ? Which would you prefer out of the Eleven Rack,Gt-10 and HD500.All the same price(no effects update yet for the 11R).I think all three seem good and your demo's on two of them are really cool but I read that some guys are starting to have probs with the HD500 crapping out and the GT-10 amp modelling is weak. Thanks :)
Hi Glenn, just been wondering how these single pedals help? When u kick in the BM/Satchurator do you turn off/lower the drive on your GT10? If I loop in a Fulldrive MOSFET/suhr riot, would e gain be too high/very hard to clean up?
Hi glenn... Love your tutorial. I just the gt10... Love it. It's that tone i hear in my head! Question-i like certain patch in ez create(clean and fat gain). How to take that patch and paste it to create dual amp that change dynamicly?or do i have to create the patch manualy?
It sounds great to me but maybe I am in a dark period. I can't thank you enough for these vids. You could charge $ but it's so kind you take time to do it for no $
I herd the Line 6 Pod X3 live is more user friendly then this thing. But can you get the same quality of sound? Also is there any benefit to getting this as to say, the same thing in a rack module?
can anyone help me with an explanation im a noob when it come to multi fx boards and non of the demo actully explain this properly and there arnt any manual on the internet that dont make my computer crash. i want this for practice and stage but do the pedal 1,2,3,4 are save pedal to put effects on for quick access eg put favour destorting on 1 and wah on 2 etc and what do those are foot pedal not numbered labeled do
Thank you for watching
Sorry bout that. it might be named something else. That case is from Rondo music and it's the CNB-PDC4100G
Just picked up a GT-10 for $100.00 I'm stoked with your instruction Thanks a mill.
That's a steal.
@userpipe It might be possible to put a pedal in the FX loop and then assign the FX loop on/off to CTL1. But then every pedal in the loop would be turned on so it might be better to just put them all in the loop and turn them on or off one by one. That's how I have it connected.

Yes I've seen those. Very nice.
Usually it's Chorus, Phaser, Univibe, Wha, & FX loop before the amp, after the amp it's delay's, reverb, EQ's etc. . .
Awesome Glenn! And all from righ there in Lafayette!? Freaking great man! Thanks for sharing these patches and the methods and logic behind them.
That's a whooooole lot of work to get that one tone man. But I'll tell you that's a very sweet sound, and spot on like Gibbons' man. This is the kind of work an artist will put in to paint his picture perfect.

your videos is a pleasure to watch!! please do more videos for boss gt 10!!
At 8:10, I felt this irresistible urge to crank my speakers way up and I had this huge grin on my face. This video ROCKS!!

@MrGUZIEC Oh no, I just had the extra space on my board so I out those up there. I am now using the Line65 in that spot.
@MrZASWANAZRAI Create the EZ-Tone and save it to wherever you want it. Then press the Preamp button and there you can add another preamp B.
hey man i just bought a gt10 and your videos have been a great help thnx!! awesome sound, your ear for a great tone is impeccable. good job and plz keep up the gt10 videos plz:)

Awesome as always Glen! I love your technique of using a steel thumbpick 👍
Brilliant video , brilliant results.
Great Stuff Glenn! I was always hoping to see the EVH early type Brown sound demo. That is such a tricky tone to nail right on. I still use mine Thx Glenn in 2020
I´m fine, thanx... i got a Peavey Studio Pro 112, second hand but almost new, i did turn down all amp´s controls (bass, mid and treble) and my GT-10 sound great
in the beginning yes. totally agree..but the final is not.

Fantastic video Glenn !!!
Yes if you use the same settings it should come close.
Those tones are definitely in the GT-10.
Very good tone and job !
That short delay is great.. it sounded like 2 guitars are playing together. Very nice tone :-)
Thank you for sharing this, it's help me a lot to set the GT - 10
Glenn ,another superb tone !!!!!!!! just a pity we are not neighbours cheers from Scotland.
great job showing us how to get great tones man!!!!
Outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!!
SOOO glad to have some BOSS GT vids. I love my GT and enjoy watching, learning and listening to all your vids
PLEASE -- Keep up the great work (especially for the Boss Vids)

@thewonkhotline I think the HD500 would be a better choice.

Another great demo.
I like variety of tones, I play all boss stomp boxes, with a rack BBE maxi and a Rack rocktron hush.
Great Gleen!! Good work, and BOSS/ROLAND needs really to endorse you! They must see your channel! You get so much out of the GT-10!
Yeah I think my whole concept of tone has changed since I did this video 4 years ago. I was going through a dark period LOL
Well Thanks for watching anyway. Have you checked out the new GT-100 yet?? That one does sounds much better. I think they did make some progress with the new one. @najer1 I alsways record direct to computer weather I am using an amp & cab with a mic or running direct like in this video.
Sure, Nancy Wilson (Heart), Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Nils Lofgren (Bruce Springsteen). There are many more in the Country genre as well.
lovely guitar, and btw great tones!
Hi Glen,
Great video. When you have time would you mind sharing the dimmensions of that rondo pedal case? Thanks
Jorge
Sounds awesome man !!!
ya I own a Me-20 by Boss and I know it is cheaper than a Pod xt Live but the POD's have a more natural and less digital sound which is very nice and also better distortions which I find are a harder theme in general to get right.
Yes Velcro. Get the heavy duty stuff at Home Depot or Lowes
I've had the GT-10 for a while. I'm not a noob with playing but totally down the road with programing it. Your vids have given me good inspiration for which I'm thankful. Wow Pretty Darn Good !! Sound is Amazing !!
Love that guitar....
Much appreciated Glen.

Great tutorial, thanks!
great job
Just to get a different sound

Да, я сожалею об этом. Спасибо за просмотр. Приветствие от США
@extremevideopro Thanks a lot for your help
Hi Glenn you are truly inspirational i have a FV500 and want to connect to gt10 want it as my master volume pedal and the onboard gt10 pedla to be an expression pedal. Need guidance as i plug guitar jack output to fv500h input and fb500h output to gt 10 of thats the right pattern or please guide on the settings
Nice video.! Could you be so kind as to answer a question for me? I bought the Boss GT-10 to get my son more involved in playing his guitar. It worked well with a little cheap fender amp. Hi Glen! You've got really nice videos here and thank you for that, but I wonder if there are any Line6 POD videos coming! Really love them!
Great! Do you where can i read more explanations about Eq, compression on Internet. I have problems to understand these parameters. Thanks!

@extremevideopro Thanks a lot, really appreciate it as always. But again, under what kinda situation do u engage the Bad Monkey?
Ok, nice vid, thanks. So if you had to choose between Boss GT-10 and Line 6 HD300 (400 and 500) for use in both studio and live gigs which one would be your choice and why? That's the difficult question for me at the moment ...

great video! u have the production down pack
@jt93guitar Also, i've found a factory sound that i like, how would i add that to one of my own banks? and is the difference between a U01 and P01 that users can change the U01 banks.. if that makes sense, sorry if i'm not very clear
thanks a lot of corse il try it!!!
@extremevideopro right, i know how to create a sound using eztone, i have clicked on the write button, it has saved to a bank, on the number 2 control, how do i save other custom patches to the same bank, on numbers 1 3 and 4?
Nice vid, I was wondering where you got your pedal board
Hi Glenn I really appreciate all your demos but have a ? Which would you prefer out of the Eleven Rack,Gt-10 and HD500.All the same price(no effects update yet for the 11R).I think all three seem good and your demo's on two of them are really cool but I read that some guys are starting to have probs with the HD500 crapping out and the GT-10 amp modelling is weak. Thanks :)
sweet vid glenn! can you do a vid on using manual mode when you just want your amps tone?
You could charge $ but it's so kind you take time to do it for no $
This is so helpful. Can you make 20 more, please? Seriously, would you mind making one more, maybe a blues or metal patch? Thanks
I herd the Line 6 Pod X3 live is more user friendly then this thing. But can you get the same quality of sound? Also is there any benefit to getting this as to say, the same thing in a rack module?
Does it have a Marshall JCM2000 tone on preamp? If doesn't, can I create it? Thanks and keep uploading all those great videos.
can anyone help me with an explanation im a noob when it come to multi fx boards and non of the demo actully explain this properly and there arnt any manual on the internet that dont make my computer crash.
i want this for practice and stage but do the pedal 1,2,3,4 are save pedal to put effects on for quick access eg put favour destorting on 1 and wah on 2 etc and what do those are foot pedal not numbered labeled do
