Love these time lapse videos. I'm starting at Kia beginning of next month and have been a licensed tech for years. This style of video is an awesome way to learn some small tips and tricks without giving away all the secrets of the trade! What was the reason for the complete engine build here? I see you have new everything right down to the rocker arms. I worked at Hyundai as an apprentice in 2014-2015 and remember getting the short blocks but never replacing all the head components. Was this just due to excessive destruction of the previous engine?
Hi, can someone help me? I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra Sport with a 2.0L GDI engine. I want to know if the engine in this Kia Soul is the same as the one in my Elantra because they look too similar on top.
originally I planned to film this re build in chapters with details but took months before engine block showed up, so I ended up filming it on Timelapse.
Hi everyone My name is sadeq I'm from Iraq I need to buy new engine for my carvkia soul 2.0 Model 2014 Gdi How can I shipping it to my country And what is the cost for it 🤔
great video boss. i have a question. i am rebuilding a 2.0 GDI out of a forte. when i set the timing chain and turn the engine by hand, if feels like the chain wants to skip. Do I set the timing and wait till i crank it and build oil pressure?
Timing chain tensioner react differently without oil pressure, if you notice @ 8:30 of my video I support my tensioner with my left hand and crank it 360 to double check my timing. Good luck.
Dope asf! Just like everyone else in the comments I have a question too! I have a 2015 1.6L Kia Soul and my car vibrates when it idles or parked up randomly or also when I turn the ac or roll widows down/up. I had already replaced the sparked plugs as well. I have 65k miles and do regular oil changes.
You say you work at a Kia Dealership, can you tell me if there legitimately is a oil consumption use problem with these 2.0L GDI engines overall across the board? My 2016 has been using oil since day 1 I purchased it new. It started off at about a quart every 2200 miles. Now 5 years later and 60K miles, it uses a quart about every 1300 miles. I check it constantly. I've made the complaint to the kia dealer and to kia Corp. Everyone just blows their nose and says it's normal. I'm a car guy. I've been around the block. I know their all full of crap. It's not normal. But I cant get anyone to address it under warranty. I've asked for a oil consumption test. But again, I was told a quart every 1000 miles is acceptable. Bull chits. What do you recommend?
Kia release their new Tbs’s not too long ago, oil consumption test process includes combustion chamber cleaning and overnight soaking, you might wanna mention that on your next dealership visit. It’s a long process but worth a try. Good luck.
Bro, I started having the same problem at about 45,000 miles. Just did my final of 3 oil consumption test done, now waiting for my new motor to come in to the dealership to get the motor replaced, kia will replace your motor for excessive oil consumption. Mine failed on the 3rd test because it consumed 1-1/2 quarts in 1000 miles. Be prepared for your car to be taken from you for some time. Mine is expected to be there for at least a month. Rental cars aren't cheap. Kia will reimburse you about 6 weeks after they give your car back. and don't forget to make sure you have all your maintaince records.
@@WrenchingRyan Based on this tsb for combustion chamber cleaning Kia knows these engines are bad to carbon up or this step would not be needed. No wonder Hyundai/Kia have a class action lawsuit against them for excessive engine oil consumption on multiple engines.
I have a 2015 soul 1.6L and l hate hearing the engine sound. It's not silent anymore and it is just at 64k miles on dash. What would be the price for a new 1.6 engine for a 2015 1.6 Soul without assembly?
Bet you're doing alot of these engines on a regular basis as time goes on, unless Kia isnt standing behind their powertrain warranty like I hear alot about.
Yes part of the campaign, most cars getting just the short block and transfer know good cylinder head, but I found a sign of bad cylinder head and yes this car got a brand new engine.
Sell it, my moms started burning oil at 68k miles, now at 83k miles and the engine is toast and Kia is not honoring their warranty because we are the second owners of the car
I can honestly say that I just had my engine go on a 2016 soul plus with the 2.0. Was told there was a recall and that I was never told of. Contacted dealer who sent me direct to Kia. After talking with Kia was told because I never did recall that they didn’t tell me about and am out of base warranty that I can eat the engine… wish I had known. Now trying to locate parts for a rebuild…..kinda angry with Kia tbh….
Hey I really liked this video! So just to cut to the chase, I have myself a 2015 Kia Soul + with a 2.0 L engine. I put about 167,000 miles on it & I’ve been having problems with my engine. I wanted to know if there’s anyway I could rebuild the engine from the inside & fix whatever it is that causing my car to slow down whenever I’m speeding up on the freeway.
Even from a new block they still sound like garbage. I wished I hadnt never purchased my 2016 Kia soul Exclaim model. I'd get rid of it now if I hadnt paid so much for it and its paid off now.
What’s the point here. Just showing fast forward version of something we can learn from. I want to know if you were in anyway trying to teach, or make people learn from you assembling the various parts. Make it simple, just upload the normal speed and version of the original video so that I can learn something, else I will come back here and add more comments you will never 👎 like.
@@WrenchingRyanYour playback speed is fine. It’s a teaching tool, if only to let technicians and customers know what’s involved in a “simple” engine swap. Good content. 👍

Where did you find a block from
I work at the dealership, KiA shipped one to us.

Yes it’s a short block, no I didn’t used the old parts. This engine is brand new.

Kia still offers engine lifetime warranty on affected models and yes we’ve been getting a lot of work.
