- Belfast songwriter Andy White in the studio playing all of his debut album Rave on Andy White with Rod McVey on Hammond organ.

This romantic and excoriating collection of songs, many of which started off as poems, is where Andy found his voice and was able to express what it was like living at that time and in that place.
He made this recording to say thank you to everyone he's met through the album, in preparation for his UK/Ireland tour January 2023, and for anyone who can't make it to a show. There are so many places the album reached and so many places it's difficult to get to on tour.
"I've hardly ever played the album all the way through, in order. It was an emotional, leaving me ragged and thankful. It was good to feel that the songs speak to any time, any place. This performance is dedicated to all the people I've met through the album, and everyone whom it has touched. In particular to Brendan McGarrity who drummed on the original recordings and Mudd Wallace who engineered, who are no longer with us. And Janice Long, without whom you probably would never have heard it. Rest in Peace. Hope you enjoy it. We did."
Andy and Rod met at school and have been playing and recording together ever since, from Andy's debut to his latest release 'This garden is only temporary'. This performance is how they started off, playing in a room. OK, two rooms!
The Bandcamp download of the concert audio includes an extra track that isn't in the filmed version, and the LP is the 2018 reissue on 180g white vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and extra photos. The CD is part of the box set collection 'Studio Albums 1986-2016', only available from Andy's webstore: www.andywhite.com/shop

The definitive record about growing up and being in Northern Ireland in the 70s/80s. The images in some of these lyrics take me straight back to Belfast, and in a good way. Tracks here put into poetry what so many of us were thinking about the then madness of the place we still call home, wherever we've fetched up. Sure, others will have had different experiences, and many much more difficult than any I ever had. But this record spoke to me then about something I recognised and it still speaks to me now. Thanks, Andy.

Ah, this brings back memories of Cambridge early Eighties. (Vaguely recall you went by the name of Andy Talking in those days - may have got that wrong...) Brilliant stuff - and all those songs still stand up today. Thanks for doing this.
