The Fender Jaguar is an electric guitar by Fender Musical Instruments characterized by an offset-waist body, a relatively unusual switching system with two separate circuits for lead and rhythm, and a short-scale 24" neck. Owing some roots to the Jazzmaster, it was introduced in 1962 as Fender's feature-laden top-of-the-line model, designed to lure players from Gibson. During its initial 13-year production run, the Jaguar did not sell as well as the less expensive Stratocaster and Telecaster, and achieved its most noticeable popularity in the surf music scene. After the Jaguar was taken out of production in 1975, vintage Jaguars became popular first with American punk rock players, and then more so during the alternative rock, shoegazing and indie rock movements of the 1980s and 1990s. Fender began making a version in Japan in the mid-1980s, and then introduced a USA-made reissue in 1999. Since then, Fender has made a variety of Jaguars in America, Mexico, Indonesia and China under both the Fender and Squier labels. Original vintage Jaguars sell for many times their original price.

I've been a Jaguar player for about the last 15 years, own three of them, each customized and set up differently, and love them all to death. I don't see myself ever parting with any of them!

Luv us some Jags! I have a '62, Fiesta red that I bought in Hollywood in 1980 for $ 250.00!! It survived the all the punk rock gigs back then and now its among one of my most treasured items.

Back before they were vintage, only used. Now she has a thousand tales to tell, and you'd sooner cut your drummer's right arm off than part with old red. Am I right?

Your thumbnail title had me laughing for a few minutes. I'm from the Pittsburgh area, and "Jag-off" has a totally different meaning. You guys are smart, no need to explain.
The Jaguar is one of the few guitars I've never owned, but I've been curious for years. If my local used guitar store ever gets one, I'm checking one out in detail - maybe even get one.

I've owned a couple of Jags over the years over the years but I've yet to find one (1) that I've liked. Can't say there isn't one in my future, I love the way they sound. I keep GASing for a Johnny Marr but don't want to send my money to Sweetwater and hate it. I'd sooner try that gamble with a new Mexican Player series. Let's make it simple, just send me that sunburst. We were both popped out into the world in '64, that might be just what it takes to make it work. Great playing as usual my man.

my only problem with jags is that trem. If it were a ice cream flavor It would be pralines and dick. If jag trems were gathered up and jettisoned into the sun with mosquitos and anyone who has ever used the word "woke" in any fashion (for or against) the world would be a much better place. . can we get a delorean to run off jag trems?
It's like people only do things because they get paid, and that's just really sad.
if it did not have the worst trem in all of existence that makes you not want to play guitar it would be more popular . the knob layout was meh and annoying at best.
Damn I am just a negative sally on this post.
