Great review & comparison Paul! I think the Black Series helmet looks a lot better in my opinion and the use of the sculpt work instead of using decals like the “high end” one is a nice touch!
Thank you for the kind words, Christopher! I appreciate it! And yeah, you make some excellent points here. That Black Series helmet is just stunning and, for the price, it's WAY worth it! And after filming the video, I had to remind myself that one is a "screen accurate prop replica" and the other is not. It's the only way I could continue to feel good about having spent so much money on the EFX Collectibles version. haha! Thanks for checking this one out!
Great review and comparison Paul! Picked this helmet up last weekend at GameStop and absolutely love it! This was on my wish list for Hasbro to make before they announced it. 2 more boxes I’d like them to check for Black Series helmets: an Armorer helmet and AT-AT driver helmet.
Thanks, Brett. I appreciate the kind words. And yeah, there were a TON of people wishing for this one. I inaccurately predicted that we'd get more Phase II repaints and Mandalorian repaints long before we ever got a Black Series Scout Trooper, but I was only partially correct. Who knew we'd be getting them all at once! haha! And if they make either of those other two helmets you mentioned, they will make BANK! So many people ask me about my Anovos AT-AT Driver helmet. Just watched that vid of yours. Great review. Very detailled and I could really see the passion that you have for Star Wars. Personally I prefer the Black Series Helmet for three reasons: 1) The color. I found that pristine white just more appealling to me. 2) The fact that it stands steady on a shelf (and that you can actually put that helmet on). 3) The price difference. Here in Europe that Black series Helmet is about 170 euro. Comparing it to the 140 euro that I paid for the Black Series Darth Vader Helmet, it's fair. Nevertheless thanks for the video.
Thank you very much for the compliment on the video, Liosnheart! I appreciate it. And you make some excellent points here. And I agree with all of them. Man I’m loving the black series for the money. I received the Vader for a Christmas gift and that thing is bada$$! This one is really nice. Sideshow is amazing I just can’t part with the $ when I’m deep into vintage. You have an awesome collection of helmets! 🙌🏼
Hasbro have REALLY stepped up their helmet game as of late, CwC! That's for sure. And I don't own that Vader helmet, but I hear from everyone who does that it is a thing to behold as well. And thank you for the kind words about the collection. This is what has become of "I'm just going to buy one Stormtrooper helmet." haha! Thanks for checking out the video as well. I appreciate it.
Great review Paul! Thanks for the comparison between the Black Series and EFX version. At first, I was not liking the back of the Black Series one because of the asymmetrical look until the comparison and saw it was designed that way. I might have to try and track down one of these!
Thanks, Matt! I appreciate that. And yeah, I saw a number of videos where people had already acquired this Black Series version in the UK months ago, and most said the same thing about the back. I was genuinely surprised that it was not more well-known that the back of the Scout Trooper has differing vents. And then I realized, I'm the helmet nerd and know WAY too much about these. I can't remember where my phone is half the time, but I have useless fictional helmet schematics stored in my brain! haha! And if you only get a couple helmets, that Darth Vader you have, the Stormtrooper you have, and this one are must-gets if you ask me. This one is THAT good. Thanks for checking out the video!

I agree, Mister B! And I think you're gonna like that 332nd as well. The paint apps on it are actually pretty good for once. I've heard a lot of talk from people that this Scout Trooper isn't "screen accurate" on the front and sides. I see their point, but Hasbro has never said these Black Series helmets are supposed to be "replica props." These are supposed to be high-end toys, and under those auspices, they did an excellent job with this one and I think you'll be glad you got one of these as well. I love mine! And thank you once again for checking out another of my videos and weighing in in the comments!
It didn't really show up on camera, but it is MUCH smaller. The Black Series is loose on my head, and would need padding to fit snugly, but the EFX won't even go over my temples. In addition, the sides and front, as you saw, are more comprehensive on the EFX, making it more of a specific-fit helmet, as opposed to "one size fits all" like the Black Series.

Okay, first of all, you win the internet with that RUclips name, ABC! I love it! And no, it is not mirrored. The lens is tinted pretty heavily, but given enough light entering, you could probably see a little of the yes of the person wearing it. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Outstanding Side by Side Review! I found the Black Series helmet at GameStop a couple weeks ago for $125. I wish I picked it up. I thoroughly enjoyed this review, Paul. I have to give it to Hasbro. I think the Black Series beats EFX for the quality and value. 😎👍
Right, SteveO? I was not expecting that. I just knew they'd cut corners somewhere, but the Black Series helmet delivers! And at nearly 1/5th the price. Crazy! Thanks for checking out the video!
That is an excellent question, Dave. My initial supposition would be very little, if any at all. I really think these two helmets are aimed at entirely different types of collectors, with me and a few others, being the aberration in between, who collect all types of helmets. The "prop collectors" will want to continue to get screen accurate helmets in accordance with the movies, and toy and Star Wars enthusiasts will want this type of helmet. But really, what do I know? I couldn't even accurately predict that this thing was coming so soon! haha! Thanks for stopping by as always, Dave!
I agree Stephen! For the price especially, you just can't go wrong with most of these Black Series helmets. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Thanks, Simon! After I saw your video, I was pretty sure it was going to be a thing to behold in-hand. It did not disappoint! Thanks for checking this one out, sir. Cheers!
It really does, Josh! They did an excellent job. I was expecting to be disappointed with it, especially compared to the EFX Collectibles version, but was VERY pleasantly surprised! Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you for helping me rationalise spending hundreds of dollars on a Star Wars helmet :’)it looks really good. I like that the face comes up, I’ve seen rebels in some of the dark horse comics wearing them like that! Also I imagine it makes it ideal for wearing while watching the movies, and I love the way they detailed the inside a bit and added the chin strap. In terms of screen accuracy my thinking is that there are so many great video games, comics, etc that define the setting and how it looks/feels to me that I don’t mind and might even prefer them not to be screen accurate (eg. the wonky asymmetrical original stormtrooper helmets, not that I don’t think they’re special for that). Only things that would bother me are if it doesn’t look believable due to whatever reason, or if it’s too small for my apparently huge head.
Haha! I'm glad I could be here for you and be helpful, Ethan! And you make some excellent points here as well. The main difference I think can be summed up like this: one is an "prop replica" and is meant to mirror as closely as possible what we sayw in RoTJ. The other is a "helmet collectible" that is meant to be usable, handled more often and roughly, and fit into the average budget. Under those auspices, I, like you, enjoy them both for different reasons! Thanks you for stopping by, checking out the video, and offering such comprehensive feedback. I appreciate it!
Next to lego Star Wars these are my favourite things to collect! Out of curiosity Paul, what helmet would you love for hasbro to make that would make you the happiest?
I agree, Tom! These helmets are fun and addictive to collect! And this is my FAVORITE question people ask me! My non-Sar Wars pick would be the Karl Urban Judge Dredd helmet. I loved that movie and believe it is criminally underrated. Karl Urban is one of my favorite actors. The suit he wore, while retaining some the comic feel, easily passed for a real-world, legitimate uniform, and I'd love to have that helmet. For Star Wars, I'm selfish. See, I already have versions from Anovos and other makers of some of the most loved, and popular helmets, so mine is kind of a niche pick. But, for Black Series' next helmet, I would LOVE to get a Transport Trooper from the Mandalorian. Bill Burr, another of my favorite actors/comedians, played the role brilliantly and I love the green deco. Then they could simply mold it in white and release it as the Turbotank Driver from Rogue One! I'd snag both of those in a hot minute!
@@PaulsCollectibles I haven’t seen the most recent Dredd film with Karl Urban, I shall add it to my list! He is a great actor though. Great pick for the Star Wars helmet too!
Hey Paul!!!! Another great review....im still trying to figure out how they do it for 130 bucks. Just amazing ...this is whyvwe prop makers arent making money anymore.....lol
Wow! Hey, Jay! It's good to see you again! You and Michael Hendrickson are the two "OG" viewers and commenters on my channel. And yeah, this helmet is stunning. I was so expecting to be disappointed, but they nailed it here. And, as you mention, at a price that really puts some heat on the high end replica prop companies for sure. Thanks for stopping by again and checking in. It's always good to hear from you!
Nice, Fiyrefly! That's a good one to start with. It's one of the best they've put out to date. And good luck holding back after. It's hard to say "no" to more helmets once you pick one up! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
I agree, Amy! For the money, you just can't beat these Black Series helmets. They are fun and fit most heads, so you can use them as a novelty costume item. Or, they display beautifully in any collection. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Nice review of an awesome helmet. It would be interesting to see how the Black Series compares to the helmets of the biker scouts who turn up in the newer series such as The Mandalorian as Hasbro usually model these from laser scans of the items seen in the more recent appearances. I wonder if those sculpted vents are correct to those newer versions a bit like how the vents are sculpted on the Black Series Stormtrooper to match what is in Rogue one rather than the painted on vents from the OT. I think it's often unfair to compare Black Series to legacy lineage items as often that is not what the Black Series is modelled after.
You make some excellent points and pose some great questions here, Paul. I agree. So many times I have compared these newer, Black Series helmets to those older, high-end helmets that are modeled after the movies. And you can totally see the difference. I try to point out that the higher end stuff is attempting to go for legitimate, prop replica, screen accurate status, while the Black Series helmets are usually representing newer media, and giving us a glimpse at what those producers were probably trying to represent all those years ago. And I would LOVE to get my hands on one or two of the prop helmets from some of the newer media to do some comparisons. I bet that would be an interesting look. Thank you so much for checking out the video and offering some pretty on-point and comprehensive thoughts to the conversation!
@@PaulsCollectibles Thank you for appreciating my input. I have always considered your comparisons amongst the best as you are always at pains to note that often the black Series differences are there because they often represent a different(newer) on screen version of the helmet to the higher end stuff. I loved your recent Ahsoka Clone helmet review too, so much so that it has convinced me that will probably be my next Black Series helmet purchase. I was worried how the Orange would look, and if it would have the weathering I saw in the promo shots of it, but yours looked great. I can buy with confidence now😉Keep up the excellent work👍🏻
@@paulsstuff1969 Thank you very much, Paul. I really appreciate the kind words and feedback and I'm glad my reviews have at least been somewhat helpful. I produce these videos purely as a hobby, for fun, and to teach myself video production/editing, but it is also nice to hear they are appreciated!
@@PaulsCollectibles Your content is very much appreciated by myself. I have a very small channel myself, and I think I have not dissimilar aims to your own really. I'm not so bothered about production value and editing (some of my videos are awful) but I do love to share knowledge and knowhow and perhaps show people a little of what is out there to be had. No sponsors, or products sent in for review, just me chatting about what I choose to buy. There are a few helmet reviews, but electronic lightsabers are really my thing. Not so much the high end replica ones but reasonable character sabers that are affordable to most people. I love sharing how to customise sounds and do little accuracy mods too. Of late I have also embarked on showing my Black Series figure collection in a series of videos too.
@@PaulsCollectibles Researching these a bit more as I decided I would get myself one after all and I've realised they have Return Of The Jedi on the box so those moulded details at the back aren't correct for what Hasbro are saying this is after all. I was going to pass on this as I have a fibreglass fan made one already, but at the end of the day I keep looking at these and thinking how nice they are for the price.
I have seen a few episodes of Rebels, Tom. The series never stuck with me, though. I'll be interested to see how the Ahsoka series turns out, since it seems to be shaping up to be the live action version of the final season of Rebels.
Right, John! These guys have like three lines in the movie, and they are all iconic! "Get your ride and take her back to base." I love that he calls it a "ride!" haha! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Great addition. I think the black series is a bit nicer. Atleast whiter. And cheaper.. for those on a budget😅. Like i said before you need space.. i see a star wars museam in your future 😂
Thanks, Michael! And you are so right! Sadly, since I have the EFX version on display, this on went right back in the box and into storage. It is my intention to have a MUCH larger space in our retirement house. That will hopefully give me much more room to build my Star Wars mini-museum!
Nice, Yak! That's nearly half price. What a great pickup, especially since this is one of the best Black Series helmets to date! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Thanks, Gary! And I know the "Stealth Scout Troper" is canon because the 501st Legion have an approved costume for the character. Just don't ask me what media he comes from.... haha! And since I'm getting to the point where I have multiple versions of the same helmets, I may have to start a "customization" series and paint some of those bad boys up on film! Maybe when it cools down from 119 here in Phoenix and I can actually go into the garage without immediately dying. Yeah, that... haha!
Oh so you got both together too?? Haha yeah bbts took both out of my bank account back to back haha. I was like woah why is over 300 bucks coming out right now?? Haha

I don't think so at all, Bailey. The EFX is clearly more "screen accurate," bu the Black Series has the crisp white and the effects I believe they were going for al those years ago. It's done very well!
Yeah, I agree Brian. I believe we often are disappointed by painstakingly "screen accurate" props and items when we see how janky the screen used stuff was back then. haha! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.

Thanks, Warren! I appreciate the kind words. And yeah, that Black Series helmet definitely gives the expensive one a run for its money! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Is the lense mirrored does it hide your eyes well or is it see through great video
Okay, first of all, you win the internet with that RUclips name, ABC! I love it! And no, it is not mirrored. The lens is tinted pretty heavily, but given enough light entering, you could probably see a little of the yes of the person wearing it. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
@@PaulsCollectibles thanks for the info👍
Outstanding Side by Side Review! I found the Black Series helmet at GameStop a couple weeks ago for $125. I wish I picked it up. I thoroughly enjoyed this review, Paul. I have to give it to Hasbro. I think the Black Series beats EFX for the quality and value. 😎👍
Right, SteveO? I was not expecting that. I just knew they'd cut corners somewhere, but the Black Series helmet delivers! And at nearly 1/5th the price. Crazy! Thanks for checking out the video!
That's a great helmet! Do you think the high-end guys will start to drop prices with this increased competition? Nice review Paul 😎
Black Series for the WIN!!
I agree Stephen! For the price especially, you just can't go wrong with most of these Black Series helmets. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
I'll take a black series and a pizza oven please
It's a gorgeous helmet, I love mine, congrats Paul 🎬 🎥 🙏
Thanks, Simon! After I saw your video, I was pretty sure it was going to be a thing to behold in-hand. It did not disappoint! Thanks for checking this one out, sir. Cheers!
Man that looks amazing
What stands do you use & display case
ruclips.net/video/Fu5vq3PQ55Y/видео.htmlsi=009rwVz2_ZsG5vEX The cases are Detolfs from Ikea which have been discontinued.
It's always good to hear from you!
i'm getting my first helmet saturday it's the Bo-Katan helmet :D
Nice, Fiyrefly! That's a good one to start with. It's one of the best they've put out to date. And good luck holding back after. It's hard to say "no" to more helmets once you pick one up! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Black Series for me. They've been making pretty awesome helmets for less the money.
That's a great helmet!
It really is, Pokehon! They did a fantastic job with this one. Thank you for stopping by and checking out the video!
If you’ve ever watched rebels, you should paint it to look like Ezras custom helmet
I have seen a few episodes of Rebels, Tom. The series never stuck with me, though. I'll be interested to see how the Ahsoka series turns out, since it seems to be shaping up to be the live action version of the final season of Rebels.
So cool👍
“Go for help! Go!” ...
Glad I got one. All gone now. Ebay selling real high.. I got mine 65$ amazon
Nice, Yak! That's nearly half price. What a great pickup, especially since this is one of the best Black Series helmets to date! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
What a cool idea! Paint the BS helmet black!!! OMG…that would be awesome 👏
Yeah, that... haha!
That's one sexy biker scout!
Yes, yes it is Gforce! I love it!
Oh so you got both together too?? Haha yeah bbts took both out of my bank account back to back haha. I was like woah why is over 300 bucks coming out right now?? Haha
Right, Casey!? I had ordered the Ahsoka clone weeks ago, then the Scout Trooper popped up briefly for "pre-order," but with the arrival scheduled the same month and it came only days later. Bing, bang, boom! Two helmets in one delivery! haha! Thanks for checking out the video! I appreciate it!
Most Impressive Paul.
Thanks, Wizzy Wiz! This one delivers the thrills for sure!
Is it sad that I prefer the Black Series? Who would have thought cheaper is better!
I don't think so at all, Bailey. The EFX is clearly more "screen accurate," bu the Black Series has the crisp white and the effects I believe they were going for al those years ago. It's done very well!
The Hasbro one looks better to me
Yeah, I agree Brian. I believe we often are disappointed by painstakingly "screen accurate" props and items when we see how janky the screen used stuff was back then. haha! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Sorry I like the black series one
Nothing to be sorry about here, Larry! Hasbro knocked it out of the park with this one. As soon as I got it out of the box, I knew it was going to give the high-end prop replica a run for its money. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
