That's great they were trying to get your opinion for the improvement! That kind of small gift can be the best souvenir with memory. :) It's far from Tokyo but I'm glad I could get on both old and new one.
Just rode the new Yakumo to Yonago Station and then took a short local bus ride to Kaikeonsen. What a great train ride and excursion. (Kaike was very hot even by the beach.)
Oh that's nice you got on the new Yakumo! Was it busy? I can imagine it's very hot today. But how nice you are by the beach and onsen. :) Please take care.
@@tokyokenchan I would say the train was 80% full, with a lot of folks going to Yonago and Matsue. I went for a swim at 7am and the sun was already very hot but it was so enjoyable.
3:12 HI Ken, we were able to ride the old limited yakumo express train to Matsue last December. My son is fond of trains and he was very satisfied and happy to ride it before it retire. He even vlog it. Thank you for sharing the new Yakumo.
Oh that's amazing that he could get on the 381 Yakumo! We don't see this anymore in Tokyo so I felt so much nostalgic. It's mixture feeling of missing the last left national raiway trains and looking forward to the new trians. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
I am very much looking forward to see this video, as I love trains, and I am a fan of Okoyama, Matsue (here, especially the Adachi art museum) and Tswuwano (for the bamboo forest, the church, the small museums, the beautiful inari shrine and the very untouristy atmosphere). Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.
Oh you know very well. :) San'in is still very untoursity for being the main island. I'm thinking of going back mainly for train ride and summer sunset.
Thank you so much for this informative video. This summer we will travel to Oki Islands in Shimane Prefecture and I was trying to figure out how we could get from Kyoto to Matsue and am thrilled to see the new Yakumo Line from Okayama to Matsue. The train looks fantastic with nice new features. I always appreciate your calm style while still giving so much helpful information. Thank you for your videos.
Alexandra san. Thank you so much for watching the video. That's fantastic you are going to Oki! That's the place I'd like to visit someday. I hope you have a great trip in San'in. :)
Thank you Ken san, the new Yakumo looks like a very good upgrade, love the lay flat chair option in the booths. And this San'in area is another interesting part of Japan I will have to add to my growing list!
Thank you Matt san! Yes, San'in is one of the most off the beaten path in the main island, so it might be intersting to see around. I think so too! It would be great that you can take off your shoes. :)
Thanks for this informative video about this new Yakumo train, Kengo-san! The mountains, lakes, countryside, and shrines are mesmerising. The flat seats look super comfortable! I will try to visit the San'in and Sanyo region of Japan during the next trip!
Thank you for watching! San'in and Sanyo area are very nice place. I was just tagging JAL's video to this one and I was thinking about you so what a coincidence!
Ken Chan thank you so much for this video about one of Japan’s new trains!! I really want to ride and excited to ride but for sure with this one looks very interesting!! Including when you can see through the window!! 🚆🚆🚆
Hello, thank you for the Yakumo train introduction. In April I am traveling Hokuriku via Shinkansen which now extends to Tsuruga. Hope to sightsee places in Fukui and cherry blossoms. We also bought tickets for sumo Jungyo 4/7 at Toyama and 4/12 at Saitama Arena. Hokuriku Arch Pass allows other smaller local train rides to lesser-known areas with views of Tateyama Alps and Noto Hanto. If you have ideas in these areas, I appreciate your suggestions. Anna
I love Toyoma. Do visit the beautiful public library n the glass museum there. Kurobe gorge is also easily accessible from toyama n Takayama is a short 2 hr train ride. Shin hotaka Ropeway is another beautiful area, especially in winter.
Hello Anna san. Thank you for watching and your message. Oh wow! That must have been difficult to get tickets for Sumo Jungyo. Cherry blossom delayed a lot this year, so it might be perfect for your visit in Fukui. Yes, Hokuriku arch pass is a joint pass of JR West and East and it's a great pass for traveling between Tokyo and Osaka, including those Hokuriku areas. Tateyama opens from 4/15 and northern Noto might not be ready yet, but otherwise there are lots of palces to see. I wish you the best trip in Hokuriku area. :)
We did the San’in coast last April. It’s an incredible trip. There were virtually no western tourists anywhere to be seen. If it weren’t for having so much of Japan left to see, I think we would go back to see the many things we missed.
That's really great you experienced the San'in coast trip. Yes, it's always difficult to choose either going back to the place you liked or trying a new places. :) Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I think so. I took Shinkansen and current Yakumo but if you are going directly from Tokyo, you also have choice of planes. They also have some buses to Sanyo area, Osaka and Tokyo.
Beautiful rake and will be popular definitely. Pls tell me if I have a Kansai Hiroshima pass then how do I reserve seats online before I reach Japan. Thank you
@@tokyokenchan sorry I can't seem to find the link to reserve seats. In JR WEST site all links are for purchasing tickets but I already have the pass. Kindly suggest a link if possible. Thank you
Hi. Do you have any 5 digits reservation number for the pass? They say go to "Reservation Lookup/Changes/Refunds" button on this page, and continue after putting the reservation number. @@chiragganguly
I remember taking the Yakumo maybe 10 years ago and filling in a questionnaire on board for JR. The staff gave me a nice JR pen as a gift.

Your videos are getting better and better. I enjoyed it very much and liked the level of detail you provided.
Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad to hear you liked the video style and enjoyed the video!
Enjoyed your tour as well. Going to Kaike Onsen in July and my JR pass covers the Yakumo!
Fantastic ❤

Yes, it's probably more off the golden route than Hokuriku as it's more difficult to get to from Tokyo. I hope it gets a popular are in the future :)
Looks like the food and drink is spot on too not bad looking!! 🤤🤤🤤

As a passenger are you allowed to flip the chairs to face the other direction? 😮
Yes! If you don't know the person behind you they might wonder why but if you are in the group of 4, yes. 👍

It's a beautiful train, and I will be in Matsue in May...and I will be going to Izumo. But I think the expense isn't worth it
You mean the expense for the limited express? You have choice of buses and local trains for this route.
@@tokyokenchan the original plan was to take the local train....but I must confess it is tempting to try the new train
