  • An easy-to-follow tutorial to make an ultra cozy and warm tweed yarn. Featured in our September 2018 Fiber of the Month Club. In this video, we are using Cheviot wool and Recycled Sari Silk pulled rovings on a drum carder in order to make a tweed batt that we hand spin on a spinning wheel.

I really enjoyed the tutorial, thanks. I also really appreciate showing how the various rovings/batts/whatever you make spin up. That is most helpful in trying to figure how to blend stuff. Question: Does it make a difference which end of a rolled batt, rolag or puni one spins from? Thank you so much.

It sometimes can. If you find it had to draft. Turning it the other way can make a world of difference. I’m not sure why. I assume it has to do with the barbs that wool naturally has.

The “music” is annoying and distracting .
