Genius! Now I know that using a Diz will bring a whole new variety to my batts! Love the look of spinning off the fold- your finished yarn looks great! Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi! Love the batt! I wasn’t sure about the blueish gray color but it’s wonderful! Thank you for sharing! Donna

Thanks, Donna! I am definitely not afraid of color! I will typically spin these types of blends from the fold to maintain the colors and prevent the dreaded “mud” from all the colors blending in an undesirable way. Glad you like it!

Oh wow. Yeah…yarn turned out gorgeous…not surprised…and I love the blue color pops in there… I may need to order more of it in every color!🫣and I have my soffsilk and a pound of tencel to play with…gonna look great with the merino alpaca I just ordered. and I’m so glad I saw how you diz off…I was going across the drum..like off a hackle, and struggling. Next one I’ll try your technique…looks much easier!

Oooh…giving me inspiration to play with my carder. Is that grey or blue merino you’re using. Just ordered some more fiber (surprise!) and got a few different colors of the color pop..can’t wait! I wish I had such a nice big work table like this to work on! Looking forward to seeing this spun up!

      The merino is a periwinkle/ blue-purple-gray color.

The finished yarn is at the end of the video, it turned out great with a slight golden glow.

Hmmm, the tint and shade definition seems a bit different in Dutch. We'd say the tint of a colour is the colour it has, while the shade is how dark or light something is. 🤔 Interesting

Thank you. That is interesting. In the US, when mixing or blending colors (fiber, paint etc) tint and shade let you know whether you are adding white(tint) or black(shade) to your color. I have never considered that what I accept as basic color theory is different from country to country. Hmmm, indeed. I shall investigate!

@@jkfiberarts could of course be a case of getting lost in translation, but right now at art school we have to do the exercise of painting something in the same shades (lightness/darkness) as the original, but in different tints (let's say red in stead of Blue).

After looking into it I think you are correct that it is something lost in translation. It’s good that color is universal! Good luck in School!

Loved this extremely helpful tutorial. Thank you. Please can I have the makers name of your colour wheel?. I must try and track one down. It’s more comprehensive than mine.
