To all those who was as confused as I was with regards to Ben's operation and the subsequent...python shortening, here's what happened. Last fridgecam, the guys were joking about Ben's operation. He was just out of the studio, not getting an operation due to Barry's berries. Then this week, when Ben tried to explain what happened, (likely) Mike edited the video in such a way that Ben didn't manage to get the original point across. ;)
Just putting it out there to others who were as lost as I was and had to google 'ben operation sorted food' to figure out what happened. :p

Make them eat surströmming next time. I grew up in the harsh north and it still took me eleven years to get used to the stuff, but you learn to like the smell eventually. Taste is the really hard part, but it is perfect revenge food! Just make sure to not get it on any clothing or furniture, it can take a while to get the smell out.

  • @lornagomezponce15

If you are making a video like this one, on 2016, my suggestions are:
-Iguana. In a stew. With potatoes. It tastes like the snake, it's quit chewy as well, but delicious with tomatoes and onions.
-Empanada de Vizcacha. Like in your recipe of the argentinian dish. Is a very soft and sweet meat. Quite delicious. Better than cow meat.
-Chinchulin. Ben: you should check that out. We make it on the grill.
-Morcilla: is the coagulated blood of pig made sausage with cow or pig bowels. To cook on a grill or a pan.
And yes. I'm from Argentina. Please, punish them. :D

In the Philippines, we eat something called Dinuguan, which is a pork's blood soup and the meat that we put in it is the leftover pork cuts (like ear, cheek, tripe, whatever throw it in). It's flavoured with vinegar and chili peppers (if you like it spicy), it's pretty good when done correctly.

Not sure if you are still looking for . . . exotic meats, but I want to tell you about the two I do not eat.
Seng gan (raw liver) usually flavored with sesame oil and salt, served with cow stomach, and hongeo (fermented skate) which smells . . . well bad (very bad) hail from my native korean land. You know, if you ever want to torture the lads with something . . . exotic.

@sortedfood Ben, the best revenge food is weird Ashkenazi food i.e. Kiskas which is mostly intestine and gefilte fish which can be good but a very aquired taste, it's a kind of pickley horseradishy white fish balls. And tsimis which is stewed fruit. Also noodle kugel which is just weird (I'm a potato kugel girl) also it's just fun to watch Gentiles try Jewish food!

In Japan, they use fish livers to make sauces for foods. At a sushi place once, I had the fish liver by itself. It came in a tin and was cut into wedges. It wasn't made into a pate but was just livers. Very tasty. Also sea urchin, the higher quality, which you can tell by the color, has a very unique taste, which I quite like.

David Wu Raising livestock is terribly wasteful, but I think we'll be able to figure out how to directly culture muscle tissue efficiently. The best part is under such tight control, it may even be possible to make it taste vastly better than anything ever taken off a live animal.

    • @Gilgamesh417
      @Gilgamesh417 10 лет назад +1

Corinn Heathers I concur! I can't wait to taste lab grown meat that's been fine tuned to be the best tasting cut of steak you'll ever have in your entire life. And, on top of that, they might be able to engineer it to have stuff like anti-inflammatory agents stuff. Eat meat, save the world, AND get healthier at the same time!

If you want something unusual, but surprisingly healthy, you should try nattō. It's a Japanase dish that's basically just fermented soybeans. I have to agree that it really does not look that appetizing (it has a very slimy texture and look), and it has a very strong flavour and smell, but it is regarded as a delicacy there. I have never tried it before, but judgement-wsie it is probably like blue cheese: Either you love it, or you hate it,

Hey, you could make a stomach festival:
    Haggis (out of sheep)
Buchada de bode (out of goat, a Brazilian dish)
Dobradinha (out of cow, another Brazilian treat)
Honestly, these can be marvelous if cooked properly. Plus, you get to fill in the stomachs with all kinds of spices!

Here in Louisiana, we have a great fondness for boiled crawfish (or my favorite, crawfish etouffee), and fried alligator (done in the style of popcorn chicken). Delicious, and from what I understand, pretty unique to Louisiana! (:

I have a couple suggestions for more exotic meats to try- if you'll have them! In Russia, especially St Petersburg, bear is quite the delicatessen &- I've found- has similar flavors to venison, but gamier. Also, here in the United States, emu is just as dark & lean as beef with a milder flavor compound. Lastly, I'm not sure if you've had it before, but wild boar bacon is wonderful!

Here in the States, Rocky Mountain Oysters (bull, pig or sheep testicles) are popular in the Midwest - I haven't tried them yet, but I do want to. Oh, and cow stomach is a delicacy in Chinese cuisine - chewy but still tasty.Speaking of Chinese cuisine, the dried flying lizards in the herbal shops always creeped me out, but the fried cockroaches remind me of popcorn. Love these episodes! :)

You guys want a suggestion? I've got one: Muskrat. People ate it during the world war when they couldn't afford any other meat. My grandparents told me it actually tasted very nice.

I love goat curry. I've only ever had it at this one fast casual Indian place off the highway and it was SO GOOD for a place that I went into with REALLY low expectations.

In Norway, or atleast in my household, Reindeer, Elk and Goat/Kid are served far often than beef and pork.
Also, please make them eat Rakefisk, that would be a joy to watch!

I love the new set! Also, do you guys plan to bring back the old table? Back in older videos, you lads would sit on some sort of picnic table, and eat a dish and I loved that. The back wall (With the wood) reminded me of that. :)

When I cook ANY unfamiliar meat for the first time, I lightly season it with salt and pepper, then saute it in butter (only a few bites) so I can get an idea how it cooks, what it tastes like, texture, and what other flavors will go with it. I also tend to do something like that with unfamiliar veges, but I rarely cook fruit. Knowing beforehand that the snake meat in this video came from constrictors, I'd probably end up poaching or slow-roasting it, because the meat is obviously going to be tough! I'd still do my test for the other elements, but it's not like they sell that meat for human consumption around where I live. I'd have to travel quite a distance or have it shipped to me at prices I can't afford :p I really think you might want to try Townsends recipe for duck or potted hare or pigeon in a hole for the constrictor snake, or other tough meats. Um, Townsends is also a YT channel, but they cook from the 18th century mostly, or have other topics from the same time period... They do show other historical sites that do reenactments from the same time period, from gun makers to distillers to other cooks, it's amazing! I would suggest you start with "Planked Shad" for a good idea of how they work, then look for the duck/hare/pigeon (he used rabbit instead of hare, and cornish hens instead of pigeon). If you are anything like me, you will end up watching more videos than you planned to, and still want more even though you don't have the time!
