Given the cut-off, it makes sense, but it means any pre-build complexes are not capable of supporting the new station modules. That means you might have to build entirely new complexes from the ground up which slows down your foray into Boron tech. It's probably best to have a couple Station Builders ready at hand to build multiple stations at once. Exploring the new sectors will definitely be fun.

EgoSoft has done a fantastic job and I look forward to their continued updates. Thank you both for the great interview on 6.0 and the next expansion. So this file started with a modified start controlling a fleet and sector, and then editing the currency value of my start file. I whole heartedly adore the ability to do this, when I am playing a stand-alone PVE experience. However, I certainly appreciate the lengths EgoSoft goes through to detect modified games. I know some players are very excited about the prospects of multiplayer areas of the game. But for me, I adore X4 because it's a solo experience. Such a deep and complex solo experience. I think the thing I am most hoping for, is some more or extensions of existing rooms. Being able to see the bunks the Argon sleep in on board, the Teladi perhaps going to their local stock market in a habitat, that kinda thing. Or perhaps, something with regular communication between pilots besides just combat and bare necessities. I just want to feel like...the universe is truly living, not just alive. It would most certainly help with the...fatigue I tend to gain in sessions, where I feel like I'm doing missions for the sake of missions or just waiting in SETA for cash because nothing fun seems to be available. Make it feel like we can impact lives too, rather than just hearing "I knew I could count on you" and "great work" a million times over as the only dialogue for most missions.
Nice to discuss the topic regarding borons in water suites. I'd like to remark that it would increase the ships weight tremendously if it's filled with water instead of air because air = approximately 1.3g per liter and water = 1000g per liter. Borons are so guest friendly to fill the ships with air instead of using vacuum. So nice! :)
I mean, there are plenty of practical arguments for that. In a Vacuum, Water will boil away immediately due to the difference in pressure. If their suit were to get damaged and leak, this would become a very lethal situation very fast while it's only a minor inconvenience on a ship with an atmosphere. Just plug the hole and a get a mop. Don't forget that even an "indoor suit" would have to withstand the immense strain of functioning in a vacuum. Without atmosphere, there is also nothing to cushion you during acceleration and deceleration. We're looking at pretty substantial safety concern on a ship without atmosphere, even for a water dwelling species.
Well, there's some trickiness to that because we've got some sort of 'inertial dampener' because people don't even flinch when your ship slams into an asteroid or station at travel speeds, decelerating it to barely moving almost instantly. There's only so much physics you can apply to the X universe.
@@ZlothZloth i think you are conflating gamepaly with lore here. Gameplay ise, very few aspects of the game make logical sense and it's not worth discussing in realistic terms. For example, all ships in this game are laughably light. moSt S class ships are about 2-5 times the size of modern fighting jets, yet weigh 1/10th. As ship size increases, it only gets worse. Going by the lsited weight, L and Xl ships are about 1/1000 as light as air of the same volume.

I picked up X4 when it had mixed reviews, way before the first expansion. I broke my rule "avoiding mixed reviewed games", and I really didn't like it. It felt clunky and difficult to navigate. But one day I sat down and told my self to give it a fair shake. It had all the elements I wanted. Surely I missed something. After 1,613 hours played, I must say I am happy I took a chance, and I am happy I gave it a fair shake. The game itself is beautiful, and once you add mods, it really does feel like endless possibillites. Thanks Egosoft - you have made a gem and I love it!

The multiplayer feature as described reminds me of pawns in Dragon's Dogma, where the game remains single player, but you encounter and can even hire characters created by other players as NPCs. If so, then it gets a big thumbs-up from me. I found DD's shared pawn system to be the best of both single-player and multiplayer worlds.
I love Egosoft's dedication to the X series. Especially with the upcoming patch, I feel like X is in the best state is has ever been. Only thing I really wish for is that the sector maps would control freer. Closer to Homeworld, it's the gold-standard when it comes to tactical 3d navigation. But the new physics engine is an absolute step up from what I have seen. Very stoked to put in some more hours when 6.0 drops.
@@CaptainCollins I'm not sure if you noticed. Bernd got a lot more comfortable with interviews. If you compare earlier interviews with this one, you can see the difference. It's impressive to see, it's not something everybody learns so quickly.
Love it, I hope to see another interview in the future. And I hope 2024 is not the last expansion. Id love to see even more sectors, maybe another threat to the systems, something you can opt in/out like expansions to add extra difficulty since Xenon are not so much a threat mid-game.
build your own gates / highways would be a good thing to implement at least in a mission only type thing for future games. the highway in savage sper would be a good place to do a faction mission to reunite the YAK and TER by building the second half of the highway.
Can we just get a massive bug and performance fix across the entire game before we talk about multiplayer? The new station and ships look amazing. I love the little blue windows with the water/lights. I am excited to see some weapons
For End game "crisis" there is a simple way to make them optional without taking the player out of the story. Simply adding in a condition the player has to meet before the crisis can spawn. For example, you want a crisis where Xenon just show up everywhere? Make it a condition that the player must have X number of S ,M, L and XL combat ships, and have reduced the Xenon to X number of sectors. In this way, it will more closely align with how the player is playing their campaign, as both conditions there mean that the player will have the military power, as well as gone through the military campaigns to have eliminated the bulk of the Xenon forces in the galaxy. Have a crisis that decreases the amount of minerals and gasses available to collect? Simply slap a condition that the player must be the producer of X percent of all raw resources in the game. Have a crisis that is similar to say a plague that occurs on a planet, and makes them desperate to recieve medical supplies? Slap a condition that the player must be importing X amount if medical supplies per hour. You can add sub conditions to your conditions, and it will more closely align to what your players are focusing on doing during their time in X4, and can vary when players will encounter said "crisis".
Id love if the actual in ship cockpit monitors could display live streams. Would give more interactivity to the ship cockpits/bridges and is more immersive than just a popup on your screen
Oh thank god on the collision. I tend to lose whole fleets to ships becoming permanently stuck in the geometry of other ships. Also, as someone who loves my ms flight sim multiple monitor setup, i wonder if we will get support for that someday.
I would love to see an option when you start a game (perhaps?) to unlimit the factional warfare system. That is, if you choose to start in a chaotic universe, it's very possible for the Argon or the Teladi to actually wipe out or absorb (vassalize) the rest of the galaxy.... and if the player was heavily invested in a faction that gets defeated or ceases to be independent, they then have to fight or negotiate a new place for themselves. It doesn't need to be all out war and death. Maybe the Teladi simply invest and buy out enough of the infrastructure to flip ownership of sectors, and at some point the military simply accepts that they lack the resources to fight back. EDIT: And yes, having that as the result of a conversation with an NPC in-game would be fine too. I'm just not sure of the story context you could rig so one conversation could have such a dramatic impact on everyone else's behavior... but it's be fun to figure out. :)
Yeah, Boron stuff on non-Boron ships would look pretty nasty. It sounds like it's going to be happening with stations, though, if they have the same production modules everybody has. Maybe some 'race specific' versions could be made for Boron and Split as part of 6.1? (I definitely would not hold up release of 6 for it!)
i wish they would implement a dropdown menu for ammunition based turrets it would be usefull if you have more than 1 type of ammo in your ship or want only 1 turret fire this type of ammo and the other turret another type
so a mission that would be nice would be one for the YAK to become legit and no longer at war with TER. Say you need to build them a bunch of ships or a few stations that make them self sustaining (or both). and then make diplomatic overture and deliver the diplomats or something.
i called it years ago :D it was the only logical thing is to give borons a suit to wear rather then filling ships up with water. it just be too much mass...
Idk, how big is Egosoft? The Expansions seem to be kind of small and really buggy, I can't imagine it being a big team, unfortunately. There is a lot of potential for improvement. I hope the next X game will be much better and with Multiplayer! Also small arms combat would be nice to have. Gives a lot more possibilities for missions and storytelling.
There are so many annoying things in this game that playing it unmodded would just be masochistic. First of all the longer a playtrough goes on the more the economy and balance of the universe will derail thru a snowball effect if you dont use things like cheat engine mod to artificially spawn defense stations and fleets that you gift to NPCs before the game becomes literally unplayable. The two most common things that happen is that the pink paranids either die within 100 hours or completely steamroll over the purple paranids, Antigone+Argon prime and that the Zyarth patriarchy gets deleted by the Xenon before you even have your first destroyer or can finish the diplomacy quests. Then there are secondary annoying things like the hazard zones that just kill your trading ships and add micro management for no reason. You dont even get any reward for navigating thru them they are just there to annoy you, so need mod to remove those. Then you need a mod that increases satellite range so you dont have to spam 50000 advanced satellites that drop your fps to 30 to see wtf is going on in a system. Then you need a mod that disables illegal player inventory items so you dont have to micro management your inventory after every fight to check if you didnt potentially pick up something illegal thats worth like f-ing 4800 credits. Then you need a mod that disables encounters so that hostile ships cant just magically appear in your systems and avoid having to go past your strategic defense structures and laser towers. Then you will most likely want a mod that removes the ugly asteroid from your player HQ so you can actually build inside it and make it look somewhat acceptable. (Please give us back old faction based HQ's) And so on and so on... All these things are such incredible QoL improvements over the vanilla game that its not even considered "cheating" by the majority of the community but basicly required for a good experience with the game.
Bernd maybe unwilling to make hideous ships but I believe the modding community is willing to bring these monstrosities to life! Free Boron ships from these limitations!
There's an audio-only version which is maybe easier to listen to. Just find it at any podcast app your using. Fps improvement on the map: new CPU and faster RAM. The only way. This is the way. 5800X3D works great ;)
Anybody else bothered by the "fly-by stars" effects? Is this in Foundations as well? I was considering to get the game, but somehow this annoys me significantly more than it should.
Interesting, all sounds a bit fishy to me :) I’ll take Bernd’s advice and try a new game start for Kingdom End its not reasonable to expect Egosoft and the designers to come up with missions that cater for a fresh start and an advanced player who can teleport in with fleets and billions of credits
At last, race specific tech for ships beloging to a race. No more...lets slap paranid L turrets and argon flak on everything. Can't wait to test boron fleets in combat...defensive combat, of course 😁😋
@@CaptainCollins Hmm...terran flaks 🤔Did your terrans remembered that in X3 they had Starburst Shockwave Cannon? If that's a mod, I want it. 😁 In all seriousness, I'm not crazy about the "one size fits all" policy the devs adopted in X4 in regard of races equipment almost absolute compatibility (almost because at least, CW ships can't just slap terran weapons on them), kinda like...argon, split, teladi, paranid equipment, all "made in China" anyway....because it removes any consequences for choosing to field a certain race fleet/ships. I remember fondly how in X3TC there was no such thing as...just slap any equipment you want, it will just work, its magic...and I try to emulate that in X4 as much as I can. As a result, I consider the practice of "cherry picking" the best equipment from all races, as an exploit. That is why I welcome the...boron tech for boron ships...concept, the devs implemented for the future DLC.😉 But that's just me, everybody can play X4 as they want.
I wander when are you going to releade RTS mode? That mode where you start with a minimal develped universe and different races starts to grow slowly and you can build up your empire an compete with the others.
beyond the ventures. full multiplayer maybe? something like conan exiles multiplayer would be cool. if you had that you would want a dedicated server that all the clients would connect to. Edit: with a multiverse type multiplayer it would be good if we could pick the specific universe to connect to. IE only playing with one of my friends or all of them or only 2 people. of course the wild every universe.
@@CaptainCollins i think a smaller scale multiplayer would work good, making it an MMO would require too much compromise to gameplay, but say you can just invite friends to play with or compete against, you wont need to make any balance changes,
Does it matter? We often see the Human race described with a plural meaning of Human; Humanity; Humans; Man; Mankind; Homo Sapiens. All seem acceptable in English.
You have an excellent game but I have 2 problems with it when you take off in a space suit it takes off at 5 m a second and there's no way to break it make it break and when you take off in spaceships you lunch forward and you have to tap the break button to stop from smashing forward into something I hope they fix this in 6.0

Only thing I really wish for is that the sector maps would control freer. Closer to Homeworld, it's the gold-standard when it comes to tactical 3d navigation. But the new physics engine is an absolute step up from what I have seen. Very stoked to put in some more hours when 6.0 drops.
It is the best it has been! Technically and story-wise.
Very cool too see Mr. Lehahn in the vid. Excellent job Thanks Capt. :)
Oddly entertaining to know 1 or 2 ships tried to mess with Collin's ship in the background and got spaced, then towed to Avarice.
You noticed! 💪🥳
Thanks for doing the interview. Really looking forward to the soundtrack for the Boron expansion.
You're welcome!
pls keep updating the game and creating expansions for this awesome game!
This is awesome! The devs reaching out to the community is a good sign that they care about their players.
I AM READY FOR THE RETURN OF THE BORON!!!!!
My favorite Race, absolute good and noble Borons with X3 "kingdoms end" sector music!!!!!
My wetsuit and tanks are prepped.
The ships and stations in the DLC look absolutely amazing. Can't wait to do a Boron playthrough
@ 19:00 Mod tools and support sounds great, loving x4 mods.
I really liked the interview! Right to business. Bernd is brilliant, and I am so hyped for Kingdom's End.
Thank you! He's a legend
Interesting idea
I love Captain Collins, dude is the GOAT
Hello Cap,
Thanks a lot for this great interview 😁🥳
I saw in real for 1 hour and have to go back to work 😅😣 and finish in VOD
_Waric
Thank you Waric :)
Borons for me are best race because of .. their designs. As well as Kingdoms End just always had the best tune. I always wanted to be in the system :)
Noticed I put a lot of hours in X4 actually. Kind of insane tbh 😂
Nice interview. So it's best to start a new game got it
Very nice interview watched fully with great interest while earning money with my stations :)
How much profit did that interview make you ? :D
Bernd is such a symphatic guy
Id love if the actual in ship cockpit monitors could display live streams. Would give more interactivity to the ship cockpits/bridges and is more immersive than just a popup on your screen
Yep, that's why I asked exactly that, because it would be awesome.
Classic X2 feature, I would love it
Love the idea for mods that have no balance changes being signed.
Oh thank god on the collision. I tend to lose whole fleets to ships becoming permanently stuck in the geometry of other ships.
Also, as someone who loves my ms flight sim multiple monitor setup, i wonder if we will get support for that someday.
it knows what is inside! Yes! thank you!
Some peeves aside, great dlc and upgrade.
Does the new live view camera change the out of sector to an in sector mode or is it showing oos movements.
We can only hope. More variety is always nice.
Encouraging to hear about the move to Blender.
indeed
...and the possibilities for modders.
Is that... Only Time by Enya in background? Nice music taste here :)
Cooler Talk ihr Zwei, danke :)
Sehr gerne!
The graphics are fine for me, I just want more content and work on making it smoother.. Love this game!!
i wish they would implement a dropdown menu for ammunition based turrets it would be usefull if you have more than 1 type of ammo in your ship or want only 1 turret fire this type of ammo and the other turret another type
so a mission that would be nice would be one for the YAK to become legit and no longer at war with TER.
They finally listened!
oh noes ... the robber Borons are back!!
Boron pirates... is that a thing?
Thanks, but the moving red dot in the background is really annoying,.
if asteroids can be pushed does that mean you can use it as a anti station weapon or use it to push the station if it hits hard enough?
Ohhh, you think good Belta Loader !
Nice, Thanks!
Welcome!
It's just about 20-25 people plus freelancers when needed. Not all of them code of course. So there's a limited amount of manpower for changes
good talk

Did I get it right? Content locked behind multiplayer features in a single player game?
I recognise his voice from some of the X official youtubes
(Please give us back old faction based HQ's)
And so on and so on...
All these things are such incredible QoL improvements over the vanilla game that its not even considered "cheating" by the majority of the community but basicly required for a good experience with the game.
End ne sort pas le 12 avril ???
With all these new physics and graphics improvements ... what about Steam VR support?
I wonder why it is not possible to preorder the expansion
👏
Eat , Sleep , Play X4 Repeat 🎉
Bernd maybe unwilling to make hideous ships but I believe the modding community is willing to bring these monstrosities to life! Free Boron ships from these limitations!
Big ships always get the love! What about the smaller ones :D
i couldnt watch all of the interview anybody make a summary for it? also any news for fps improve for map?
There's an audio-only version which is maybe easier to listen to. Just find it at any podcast app your using. Fps improvement on the map: new CPU and faster RAM. The only way. This is the way. 5800X3D works great ;)
Love the game. Good interview. Please work on fixing AI.
Anybody else bothered by the "fly-by stars" effects? Is this in Foundations as well? I was considering to get the game, but somehow this annoys me significantly more than it should.
Is there a textual transcript available for this video that can be read offline?
no, but a podcast format, that you can download and listen to when you've got time. Look here: podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/captaincollins
First I thought you disliked it, then I realized you liked it :D "Fishy"... lol :D
👍👍

At last, race specific tech for ships beloging to a race. No more...lets slap paranid L turrets and argon flak on everything.
Can't wait to test boron fleets in combat...defensive combat, of course 😁😋
But my Split ship with Terran flaks and Argon plasma and Teladi shields disagree !! xD
@@CaptainCollins Hmm...terran flaks 🤔Did your terrans remembered that in X3 they had Starburst Shockwave Cannon? If that's a mod, I want it. 😁
In all seriousness, I'm not crazy about the "one size fits all" policy the devs adopted in X4 in regard of races equipment almost absolute compatibility (almost because at least, CW ships can't just slap terran weapons on them), kinda like...argon, split, teladi, paranid equipment, all "made in China" anyway....because it removes any consequences for choosing to field a certain race fleet/ships. I remember fondly how in X3TC there was no such thing as...just slap any equipment you want, it will just work, its magic...and I try to emulate that in X4 as much as I can. As a result, I consider the practice of "cherry picking" the best equipment from all races, as an exploit.
That is why I welcome the...boron tech for boron ships...concept, the devs implemented for the future DLC.😉
But that's just me, everybody can play X4 as they want.
Yoooo!
Commenting without watching! :D
@@CaptainCollins hey, I was watching but got distracted! ❤️! I’ll get back in there!
can you actually train marines now so that boarding works better? I don't mean in combat, but on stations.
It's possible on planets after terraforming.
@@CaptainCollins nice thx
No modded update this week?
I wander when are you going to releade RTS mode? That mode where you start with a minimal develped universe and different races starts to grow slowly and you can build up your empire an compete with the others.
beyond the ventures. full multiplayer maybe? something like conan exiles multiplayer would be cool. if you had that you would want a dedicated server that all the clients would connect to.
Edit: with a multiverse type multiplayer it would be good if we could pick the specific universe to connect to. IE only playing with one of my friends or all of them or only 2 people. of course the wild every universe.
An X game will never be like that :)
@@CaptainCollins i think a smaller scale multiplayer would work good, making it an MMO would require too much compromise to gameplay, but say you can just invite friends to play with or compete against, you wont need to make any balance changes,
Hey Capt. When you talk about the Split race do you refer to them as Splits? If not why do you call the Boron, Borons?
Does it matter? We often see the Human race described with a plural meaning of Human; Humanity; Humans; Man; Mankind; Homo Sapiens. All seem acceptable in English.
@@jhfvdjklhbbdlhfbzgd Find me one person who uses the term Splits when refering to that particular race.
In german we would say it happened "im Eifer des Gefechts". Whatever that means in english :D
@@CaptainCollins "In the heat of Battle"
The Red dot in the middle of the screen is annoying. Other then that, Great content.
Why's a red moving eye in the middle annoying? :D Gonna find some new background soon...
5 years already? i would say time flies... but time cannot fly, it doesn´t exist inside physical space :)
Well, our messages from 5 years ago are flying somewhere in space ;)
@@CaptainCollins haha, that much is true :)
Yoooo!
was a great stream. Unfortunately, I couldn't write due to the stupid mobile phone number thing
Sorry bout that, but glad you enjoyed it :)
X4 Mayhem :P
So when is X5 is out. Witch will contain planetary rts base building for you vacation spot offcourse
yep... and ego shooter parts in VR :D
New terraforming: hoping it's not another AI because that's how we got xenon lol
shut up and take my money! make X-Universe great again ! 🙂
I always feel there must be a sugar daddy kinda thing for the studio to dedicate to a game not that popular but yet fascinating xD
You have an excellent game but I have 2 problems with it when you take off in a space suit it takes off at 5 m a second and there's no way to break it make it break and when you take off in spaceships you lunch forward and you have to tap the break button to stop from smashing forward into something I hope they fix this in 6.0
Yay, they went from 15 fps to 20 fps. Best engine ever.
If only x4 was running on unreal engine 5
Ist ne deutsche Firma und labert Englisch 🤣
das interview wird auf englisch geführt, weil die zuschauer vom streamer eben internationale zuschauer sind.
any thoughts of VR support in the future of X4?
