  • The NUS Baba House is one of the last remaining intact Peranakan residential homes in Singapore that still has many original and unique architectural features of fine workmanship and quality in place. It was restored and curated by the NUS Department of Architecture, NUS Museum, The Peranakan Association of Singapore and URA from 2006 to 2008. Peter Lee, its honorary curator and Dr Nikhil Joshi, a conservation expert, reflect on what makes the Baba House so special and how the experiment with lime plaster helps to extend its longevity. This video is presented in October 2019 as part of URA’s celebration of 30 years of conservation in Singapore since 1989.
