Exciting year! I also need to finish MS&T. Will probably wait until I get my broken binding copies. Long Price Quartet, Tyrant Philosophers, and Gentleman Bastards are incredible! I hope you have a great reading year!
I agree with you, Kathi, no need to limit our priority series! XD I'm doing multiple videos with different lists for next year so I can get all my priority books and series down on video. I am so excited to see Lies of Locke Lamora on your list! It's one of my all time favorites. :D Faithful and the Fallen is a very fast reading series, you'll get through that easily. Also VERY HAPPY to see Long Price Quartet on your list too! One of the most underrated masterpieces of the fantasy genres.
There are so many things I want to read I simply couldn't limit myself. I am looking forward to Lies of Locke Lamora particularly as I've already started it. Oh that is such a ringing endorsement on LPQ I might have to bump it up the list. Thank you so much for watching, it was great "meeting" you at Matt's.
Wonderful list! Hooray for Gentleman Bastards! I also loved The Long Price Quartet. Book 1, A Shadow in Summer, has one of my favorite female fantasy characters, and I can’t wiat for you to meet her! 💜
Ohh I might have to push up LPQ. The truth is I haven't really thought of who are my favourite female characters. Something to think on. I'm very much looking forward to Gentleman Bastards as well.
I'm super excited for your reviews of MST and Hyperion Cantos - love both to bits. I also want to read John Gwynne book next year, I might start with FatF. Here's to many great adventures 🍻
Interesting Picks! For my 2025 Series Priority will be 'The GRISHA TRILOGY' by Leigh Bardugo for sure, before I watch the TV series. Really excited to delve into the story. 'The Faithful and The Fallen' series by John Gwynne is in my TBR pile already for over a year now but I think it could wait since I got the Grisha first. I read Chuck Wendig's ZEROES last year, which is a sci-fi, action. His prose is actually Good in my opinion. The 'Wanderers' actually piqued my interest/curiosity and I'm think of picking that one up too in the future.
I have a whole pile set aside..about 140 books..not all I'll read but I'm mostly going to try to read books i own next year..some rereads like the night circus or the dark tower series..but alot of new books including classics like war and peace..sci-fi like children of time...fantasy like Tad Williams and asoiaf..and ya series like throne of glass and twilight..my goal is to read 100 books in 2025
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on your fantasy reading journey no matter which ones you choose. I keep changing my mind every week which ones I want to tackle next year. I’m really feeling drawn at the moment to Tad Williams sci fi series Otherland.
Stunning choices! So many of these are on my to read list as well! I'm quite excited for next year, I'm going to really try to focus on reading quality over quantity, I hope you can get to them all! I have heard extremely great things about the Sun Eater series, so I think that will be my priority when starting a new science fiction series! Great video as always! ❤
Thank you very much. 😊 I'm really looking forward to all of them and am curious myself as to which ones I'll like. For me it isn't about quantity either, but I am a fast reader and I doubt very much I'll finish all of them. Still, most are short series so we will see.
The Hyperion Cantos is my favorite series of all time. Each book brought about such strong feelings in me. I have been chasing those feelings in books ever since . I've never replicated them. I hope you get to them and I'd love to hear what you think of them.
Hi Kathi! So nice to see another Australian booktuber. I have also just purchased the first book in the tad williams series after seeing it highly recommended online. I was wondering if you are a fan of David Eddings? I read a lot of his books when I was younger and am on the search for a more adult version of his style of fantasy!
Hello! It is very nice meeting other Australian RUclipsrs. I love David Eddings. He was my first introduction to fantasy. I really enjoyed Williams, but if you want more fantasy like Eddings ... hmm, I've heard Michael J Sullivan might be similar, Jim Butcher has a lot of humour but he writes urban fantasy. Feist is always good as well. Happy reading.
I have a lot of overlap with you, those are some great series. I am actually starting a buddy read of The Tyrant Philosopher series with a friend next week! The third book is being released early 2025, I think that might be why a lot of people have gotten interested in it recently (myself included)!
@@arockinsamsara Hi Lekden. 😊 It's an ambitious list but who knows which will fall by the wayside. I'm really enjoying City of Last Chances. I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you so much for watching.
@@NerdyKathi You inspired me to make my own list. Well, I have had a running list, but you inspired me to try and pull our priorities, and I will probably make a similar video... But right now my list is at over 20 series and that feels a little insane, so hopefully I can do a better job at assessing priorities before I make the video!
@arockinsamsara Oh I look forward to seeing it. It was hard for me to limit myself as well but there's only so many hours in a day. 😊 BTW I have to finish up watching your video on criticisms on Booktube. I'm really enjoying it.
Hey! We're on the same page! Just piled my Tad Williams MS&T series on the night table after they sat on my shelf for 10 years. Thank you for the inspiration, will be enjoying this in good company! It's going to be fantastic. Also, just bought his new addition to the series' second half! Must say that Wanderers was less than expected. Epic scope and an articulate writing style eventually collided with the weight of the book. One main character, a total fail for me, since he can't be taken seriously whatsoever. Hopefully the sequel is good. See what you think. I'll check back with you. Best wishes in 2025!!
I need to finish MS&T before I get onto Williams' other books. I might jump straight into them. Ohh, interesting about Wanderers. Guess you will find out how I find it. Best wishes to you as well in 2025.
Hyperion is a priority of mine every new year and has been for.. well, I don't know ten plus years? Somehow I never seem to reach for it on the bookshelf. Next year is the year I think with Thebrokenbinding releasing a special edition. My priority series for next year are The Wars Of Light And Shadow by Janny Wurts which I've read the first few books of many times over the years and somehow have never read past book three despite enjoying them. I'd also like to give Daniel Abraham a go myself, probably I'll start with The Long Price Quartet.
Ohh I didn't know BB were bringing out a special ed of Hyperion. I'll have to read the book before they do. I think I've read 7 or 8 in WOL&S but I'm not sure when I'll get to the rest, perhaps in 2026.
I just started Hyperion and it hasn't really grabbed me yet but I'm sticking with it for now. I'm definitely more of a Fantasy fan than I am a SciFi fan, so that's probably why. I've finally convinced my partner to do a read along with me and we settled on The Dragonbone Chair, I really hope Tad Williams can whip me up a full time reading buddy hehe. Hope you are well, Kathi!
I'm not a big sci-fi reader either but I'm broadening my reading and I need to try Hyperion. Oh I love buddy reads, they just add another dimension to our reading experiences. I have been well. Hope you are as well. ❤
That's an all star list! For what it's worth, with Lord Foul's Bane, I completely understand why if someone chooses to avoid that series, because it does contain some despicable stuff and I'm not about to defend it. All I'll say is that it's not belittled by being simply gratuitous or for shock value, and whether it was necessary at all I'll leave for smarter folks than me to debate 😂
Hi Rabin! Lord Foul's Bane I tried 30 years ago. I suspect I'm going to enjoy it more this time around but we will see. Yes, others have said that scene wasn't gratuitous and it didn't seem that way then but I am such a character driven reader it was hard to get over. Thank you so much for watching.
I highly recommend the Night Watch series by Lukyanenko if you want something different. It's fantasy set in modern day Moscow. My goal for next year is to finish several series already started and read through The WOT for the first time.
Hello! I completed the expanse series this year finishing with the short story collection. It has stories that begin before the series and some that fit throughout. I am sure someone has done an exact order if you wished! I would also like to try Hyperion, sun eater and the dragon bone chair in the new year ! Right now I have finally started the Dandelion Dynasty.
Very much a mood reader myself - I'd start a series with every intention of completing it - and then get distracted by a title that caught my attention...and then another...and then another; it's happened *so* many times. 😏 One series that I HAVE to finish is Terry Goodkind's: The Sword of Truth series...and the connected The Nicci Chronicles and The Children of D'Hara.
I'm usually good at finishing a series, unless I give up on it in the middle. Hopefully I'll be able to cross some off next year. Enjoy Goodkind. I very much enjoyed Sword of Truth and have read it twice.
I enjoyed the MS&T books a couple years ago very much. I went on to The Heart of What Was Lost, the bridge book to The Last King of Osten Ard series. I need to go on in that. I’ve not read any of the others you mentioned. I’m soon to start book 4 of The Stormlight Archive.
The Stormlight Archive is one of I haven't read yet. Most likely that will be in 2026. Very much looking forward to MS&T and who knows I might start the next series as well.
I've been meaning to buy the Hyperion series, as I'm currently filling my shelves with Stephen King's and Dan Simmons novels. I've heard they are really good. It's a shame what happened to Dan. He's not written a novel since 2015, when he fell and hit his head on a rock. You have plenty of options to choose from there. Obviously you cannot read them all next year especially between other novels.
Oh it's highly unlikely I'll finish all of the series. I might not even like some of them, but I do like reading shorter series between longer ones. Maybe we'll both read Hyperion together and you can share your thoughts with me. Enjoy your reading. ❤
Many of your choices are new to me, but I have read the first 2 (from when the books were printed as 6 instead of 3) of the Riyria Revelations and Lies of Locke Lamora and enjoyed those 3 very much! I'm in the midst of a dozen or so fantasy series that I need to continue, so I'm thinking Robin Hobb, Anne McCaffery, Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher, Michael J Sullivan, Scott Lynch and a few others all have series that I need to finish. In my 3 years of reading fantasy, I have only completed 2 series - the Broken Earth trilogy by Jemisin and the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I practically inhaled all 10 of the Kate Daniels ones in just a few weeks and had to really work to get through the Jemisin ones. I've also tried a couple of series that I will never finish. Nalini Singh is not my cup of tea, and neither is Pierce Brown. One has too much explicit sex and the other has too many explicit battles! LOL! I look forward to hearing which series you actually get to next year 🙂. Thank you for the visit!
I always like hearing about new series though it adds to my neverending TBR. Perhaps some of the series I mentioned you might enjoy. I'm generally good at finishing series, as long as I like them. Jemisin is one I might even pick up next year. (I had to limit myself somehow) 😂 Thank you so much for sharing and enjoy your reading.
I hope you enjoy The Broken Earth more than I did. I'm glad I read it, but I found the second person POV to be very confusing, hard to comprehend and a lot of work to get through. Jemisin really pushed her ideology, but I don't think I ever really understood what it is exactly... Of course your video has added to my uncontrollable TBR! We bibliophiles have to encourage each other!! 😊
Quick post here. Riyria's third book is much better than the second one. Liviathan's 4th book is very slow. Butthe first 3 books are excellent. Also christopher ruchio is not a good author imho.
This list is insane! Sounds like it’s gonna be an awesome year of reading, I have 4 or 5 here on my list to read next year too.
Exciting year! I also need to finish MS&T. Will probably wait until I get my broken binding copies. Long Price Quartet, Tyrant Philosophers, and Gentleman Bastards are incredible! I hope you have a great reading year!
Thank you Kyle. Glad you got the BB copies. I think 2025 is going to be a good year for me. I hope it is for you as well.

You're very welcome. You have a few on your list that I haven't read yet like Mike Shackle and Stormlight. Maybe 2026.
I'm super excited for your reviews of MST and Hyperion Cantos - love both to bits. I also want to read John Gwynne book next year, I might start with FatF. Here's to many great adventures 🍻
Thank you! I am looking forward to so many as you said adventures. I wonder which I will love the most.
You’ll love the expanse. It goes well beyond the show’s plot which was sadly cut short.
It’s been on my list for ages. I'm very much looking forward to starting it.

So many of these are on my tbr for next year too. Suneater is a special priority for me.
So many books so little time. I'm hoping I love Suneater.
@NerdyKathi me too!
good thought - I can justify finishing series I started years ago and, for some reason haven't finished.
Yes it's so easy to get distracted with series. I hope you get to finish some Julie.

Thank you for the inspiration regarding Wendig and the Three Body Problem.
I have 2 of the Otherland books, but who knows when I'll get to them.
Currently on the 3rd in The Expanse and its really good so far ...Sun Eater is up next :) A few you mentioned are new to me, so thank you for that !
I'm looking forward to both and I love inspiring people to consider other perhaps less well known series.
Stunning choices! So many of these are on my to read list as well! I'm quite excited for next year, I'm going to really try to focus on reading quality over quantity, I hope you can get to them all!
