I don't think u need to mention badminton coz of 2 reasons..1) its already very popular second only to cricket and 2) India is already winning major titles and medals
It's just the matter of someone winning a medal in some major event. Saina Nehwal's Olympics silver motivated people to take badminton seriously. Similarly the 1983 cricket World Cup win was a turning point for cricket in India.
I love seeing the pure aggression of Mohammed's hitting to the back and front of the court and the nice contrast in style that Saurav has with his quickness, deception and pinpoint accuracy
Great to be reminded of the absolutely top-tier squash Ghosal can play when it's clicking! Not just speedy retrievals but excellent depth, tight rails, nicks - the whole package.
Really liking these best of 3 matches. Players play at a faster pace and are edgier as stakes much more high for every single point compared to a best of 5
Agree, and shorbagy gave some needless comments to the ref as well. I thought shorbagy had mellowed as he got older but more recent 2024 encounters with certain Egyptian and French players shows he can be quite mean spirited and a poor sportsman in stressful situations. Person’s true character always comes out in such times.
So enjoyed this first game. The quality of hitting was incredible. Ghosal was hitting better than Shorbagy. I think shorbagy went in very confident it would be a whitewash as you could see by his friendly banter initially but when it got into the later half he was getting worried and a bit of mind play started and aggression and shouting came in to put Ghosal off. Shorbagy still played clean though which is good. Glad Ghosal saw through it and won that game cause he deserved it and was in the groove.
It's sort of a two-handed backhand, but not quite. He's actually got his left hand on his right forearm, not on the racket itself, still unusual though
Ghosal is a such a gentleman. Didn't question that no let by the referee at 10/9 when Elshorbagy blocked him while he called towards the rear right corner
India would do much better in sports like Badminton and Squash if players like Ghosal gets good local recognition like their cricketers do.
India is champion in batminton

If only ghosal could win tournaments.

Great game---it is just amazing how they can cover the court to get balls back from impossible positions and with direction.
Impressive performance from Ghosal how relaxed he seems sending ES around the court. ES still the man to beat.
Ghosal - tough as nails, pure willpower. Nice one!
Mongoose vs. The Beast always an interesting match-up.
Great commentary from two of the best in sport.
Awesome game..thanks for sharing
Thank you.... that was both lovely and awesome. I will dream well tonight.
The drop shot on 11:47 is crazy with that spin, the ball just roll out from the nick

First time in my life that I see a pro squash player with a two-handed reverse O_O

I have been playing racquetball for over 25 years and squash looks pretty damn impressive....
loved it!! Ghosal 👏👏👏👏
Nice one!
At some point, could we also get to see Castagnet vs Ghosal at the Windy City earlier this year ? This 5 game match must have been intense.

Impressive game, and two great players 👏
Proud to See India nailing in this game as well 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Sourav sir you are awesome
Super quality game
Happy birthday Steve Line
what a rally

The point at 10 all should have been a key for ghosal it bounced high off the back wall and was easily retrievable if only access had been provided
Quality
What a game!
Love the match, such high quality. But can't help think how much covid was amongst the audience just spreading already!
I thought the same watching this and the audience live back then 11th march 2020.
where did Ghosal get his 'mongoose'' nickname from.. ?
Nice game Many people don't even know About The game in India
Did I dream the pandemic?
This was the last tournament they played before lockdown, the restrictions came in within a couple days of the tournament ending.
First
nobody makes noise. That shows everything.
