I love all the camping gear tips. My son is 11 and has been camping a lot with Boy Scouts this year. They went to camp in Colorado two weeks ago and he said it was so cold! I think I’ll get him the sleeping bag liner for next time. ….and maybe one for me too!
I'm looking forward to your tourlog.
Mark, your camping video shows off your deep experience in camping. You have put together a good collection of gear to make your outdoor nights comfortable. Thanks for sharing.
I learned a lot from this one.
Hi Mark
philmont was great! was there in 78. they supplied the tents back then. maybe because we flew from miami to denver and bused to base camp.
Hey Mark! i just found you here. Nice to meet you. i'm a cycle tourist from brazil and soon will be abroad with my bike. what a beautiful journey you're planning. To put the rear wheel in the Pacific and the front wheel in the Atlantic ocean! so inspiring. keep in touch!
Hi, Mark, Enjoyed your vid. My bucket list is to bicycle tour Route 66 so I’am watching videos, reading, trying to learn all I can. Also, I’am accumulating gear, trying different combinations, you know the drill. Thanks for your input. Om!
Your back yard is so nice, you could just skip the trip and camp there for 3 months! 😸🤣😂
I sure am curious to see an "after the trip" gear video to see what you wish you wouldn't have taken. It seems like your packing a whole lot of bags that could easily be condensed to fewer and lighter weight stuff sacks.
That’s a stunning back garden to test out camping gear! I was going to recommend one of those MSR pot scrapers if you didn’t already have one. I’d like to try a jetboil for my tours but I’m quite attached to my trangia system for now. As bulletproof stoves go it’ll probably outlast me.
Looking forward to the trip videos Mark, when do you start the ride?
My bike is 83 pounds. Every weight weenie just passed out! Enjoy the ride.
Has anybody ever used a bike trailer to store the camp equipment in as opposed to bike packs? What are the advantages of bike packs vs a trailer?
Weight tip I learned doing hiking and now do bikepacking: go as light as you can, but no lighter.
84 lbs? Okay! You win.
When does the tour start?
