Let's take a look at one of the biggest and earliest milestones for Warrior Cat's fan animations! The SSS Warrior Cat series is fascinating, so let's dive in!
Hey! Aluri here :) I saw some parts of this, and I just wanted to explain a bit here and there. At the time Yuji and Zing left, it was basically just me and Wanton left, who had no experience in animating at all. We did coloring and inbetweening on the project, but suddenly we were on our own. We wanted to finish what Yuji started, a few keyframes here and there, and mostly just very small animatics. We didn't want to let that go to waste, so Wanton and me decided to finish episode 3. We were both like 13-15 years old and in the middle of school, with little time to spare. Of course, having no real animator experience didn't help there, but we tried our best to not let it go to waste, but we were not amazing like Yuji or Rosi, who were the animators on episode 1. We just wanted to at least see Yuji's effort get finished. I hope that explains the quality switch a bit!
Yoo, you're one of the project creators? Great job, actually! Its really sweet, that you guys continued the work on the project, with as much effort, as you could give, even if it wasn't for long. With no animation experience... That's even more impressive! Thx for being such an inspiration for the whole fandom! :) Sorry for my english

The fandom right now is like "So... where is the movie?" And like.. with everyone being so hyped about a movie or cartoon about Warrior Cats (Especially Into the Wild, because that's the best saga, change my mind) it makes sense that SSS was a hit, even with a few episodes it is still remembered.
The intro is still the best part about the whole series

SSS Warrior Cats is what got me to read the books in the first place. This is just filling me with nostalgia. Thanks, Critter!

Fun fact the blue cat, red cat, brown cat and german sheperd looking cat at 14:42 are actually characters from the classic anime called ginga nagareboshi gin or silver fang in that anime they are dogs and thats the reason they look a little bit like dogs more than cats they wanted to have them make a cameo wich im super happy about since its a very unknown series (if you want to know the names of the characters its akatora,chutora, kurotora and i think the last one is either john or jerome)
The last one is John. Jerome is from GNG's sequel, Ginga Densetsu Weed.

We love it. I love it. I love that the team pulled this off with ZERO budget. I'd rather re-watch SSS Warrior Cats again than another Pixar CGI recycling-bin product.
One of the strong points to the SSS animation was the unique character designs. They brought clarity to the characters, instead of them all just looking like short or long haired real world cats with different pelt colors.
If you want another passion project about magical animals in the woods that fight each other, I recommend Wolf Song. It's a full 90-minute movie from 2016 that the creator had worked on for years. It isn't the best in terms of writing, and the animation isn't always the best, but you can feel the love put into every frame of it.

Wow this takes me back. I remember discovering SSS Warrior Cats after I finished reading the original series and thinking how cool and inspiring it was and how it felt like a love letter to other fans.
side note, and I might be wrong, be realized that three of the background cats; the brown, blue and red striped cats that show in the review at around 15:47 are probably a reference to the kai brothers from the manga ginga nagareboshi gin (for those who might not know of it, it's kind of like warrior cats but with dogs and also very violent)

i remember eagerly waiting for the next episode of the series back in highschool, and i was (and still am) blown away by the animations and the anime-inspired art style
At 14:42 I realised that those three multicoloured "cats" looks like the kai brothers from Ginga Nagareboshi Gin! And the one next to them on the right looks like John!

Man this takes me back! I've read the entire first 3 arcs and first book of the 4th and was definitely a fan of these animations! I too have wanted a movie/series for a long time since there have been movies based on other books about fighting animals like that gaurdians movie with the owls!
But if not these fan cartoons are good enough for me, just so cool to see an analytical youtuber I watch be into this series!
This whole thing reminds me of the My Little Pony fan series I watched years ago. Things like Bride of Discord and Princess Trixie Sparkle. They weren’t animated much, but they were still quite impressive as community collaborations.
Ooh the throwback, I used to watch all those collaborative animated projects the fandom did, they always chose amazing songs as well

I remember watching this in Middle School.
Now that I think about it, I never actually finished the fourth series of the books. I think that's because the final two books weren't out when I spent a whole summer reading through them all.

6:55 Oh, god, I haven’t watched this thing…basically since the last episode came out, and I was too young to notice how bad Spottedleaf’s audio was. I thought it was merely unenthusiastic, but I didn’t even know that she was also recorded with a microphone that sounded like it had been left out in the rain.
I have completely forgotten about Warriors and this reminder was just… awaking my flight or fight response.
It really is amazing how inspiring this series is in general. Coming into highschool I absolutely hated reading, but then I found out about these books and now I'm a book worm. They're certainly not the most well written books, but they have a charm to them that I adore.
Just curious, have you have ever heard of the Wings of Fire series? They're all really good books with a similar charm to Warriors but it's about dragons. I highly recommend it :3

I remember my warriors phase. This is bringing me back holy shit. I think I got into it in elementary school in around 2006 or 2007. I want to get back into it, but I haven't read a book in years. Plus I can't remember what was ever happening when I left. I've read the first 4-6 arcs. Again, I can't exactly remember where I was.
I could be wrong because it's been literal years since I've read this, but I think the thing between Whitestorm and Rusty did happen and it was a test set up to see if Rusty would run away or be loyal to the clan or something. Again, I could be wrong, but I think I remember that.

lol i saw SSS about a year after i read into the wild, i was sure i had accidentally missed Whitestorm beating Rusty in the book i haven't gone back and read it again yet and just assumed it was cannon thanks for letting me know i didn't skip half the book!

Ok this has reminded me I have first volume of Warriors on Audible and I ment to listen to it earlier but stuff then Sandman act 2 came out. But finished and will try to listen to it today ( or atleast start). I feel like I have seen these videos before but the mic quality did put me off and as I had no firmilarity with the series it did not hold my interest.
You know what's crazy? I feel like I was way more forgiving of bad mic quality when I was younger! Like, I remember being 12 watching these vids and being like "yup, that's just what people sound like."
@@thejudgmentalcritter6584 think that's true of most things you grow up with or first experience if you enjoy it. I remember watching beast wars as a kid and thinking the CGI was so life like, like real animals ( I was young ok >.

1:45 speaking of how the designs used for sss warrior cats is still referenced in fanarts i feel like it should be mentioned how basically every tortiseshell cat is depicted as a calico instead (like redtail and spottedleaf)

i have no idea why but for sum reason i really want critter to review something she really really likes(not saying she doesn't like what she reviews), and i hope if it happens she has her lil critter in the corner of her opening foaming at the mouth(cuz she's a rabid fan} i just see the lil' critter vibrating in the corner and its all i can imagine sometimes.

If I remember correctly, some of the episode parts were reuploaded due to some uploading issues? Which may be why some parts were uploaded really close to each other.

The beginning seems funny, with the creator complaining about a heavy workload, since nowadays we have people like sad-ist, vivziepop and others who make masterpieces every couple months
Well, those people nowadays are getting paid to make their work. Back then, the animators for SSS Warriors cats were working for free.
