On the other side of things (i.e. mechanics instead of theme/story/setting) was the influence of the Wizardy series; which can be argued is like bringing up Wolfenstein 3D or Doom for FPSs but I don't think many people in the West remember Wizardy. Also there was the weird the almost parallel with Wizardry IV that came out in 1987 where you play the big bad from the previous game and summon monsters to assist in combat.

Interestingly enough, Berserk also took some inspiration from Go Nagai's Violence Jack, which is said to be somewhat linked to Devil Man's universe in some way that I'm not familiar with on the particular details. From what I understand though, the way people describe Jack's knife that he carries was a huge influence on the way Guts' sword Dragonslayer is described as being, "a large chunk of iron." As a huge fan of Berserk I find that pretty interesting even though I'm not aware of all the details.
Ryo Bakura and yami from Yugioh dm is based of Ryo Asuka from devil man. Yubel from gx take influence from Both satan (Ryo Asuka)and Zennon from devil man. But yubel goal is similar to satan (Ryo Asuka) Want turn mc of story in dark version themselves. Yubel plan Jaden into supreme king. Satan (ryo) want akira into devil man. The way supreme king take Jaden mind is similar to Amon take over akira mind and body. In both versions of Amon ova and manga Amon the dark side of Devil man

Devilman is my second favorite manga/anime series and I'm so happy to know that it inspired my favorite JRPG series
