  • John from www.okraw.com shares with you some eye-opening research about cacao. Raw chocolate is said to be the highest source of antioxidants and magensium. In this video you will discover if that is truth or fiction. In addition you will learn other raw chocolate facts, and about a study that showed that people who are depressed eat more cacao.

I agree with everything you said in this video John, but I think its pretty amazing how the longest confirmed human life span in history, living to the age of 122 years, 164 days (44724 days total) Jeanne Calment consumed so much and yet lived to be that old. She supposedly ate 1 kilo of chocolate a week according to wikipedia.

The thing ro remember is quantity... no one is going ro use a tablespoon of turmeric or clove or even oregano in their food. While a tbsp of cacao is something ppl would. Please dont eat a tbsp of clove powder...

Your research on cacao is flawed since cacao nibs is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. Cacao is not a simulant but only one of the most powerful and most affective superfood out there.

Cocoa powder and cacao powder are different. Cocoa powder is processed and heated cacao. Cacao powder is the raw and unprocessed version of the cacao bean.
Please clarify because cacoa isn't even a word.

It doesn't claim to be the ''HIGHEST'' in anything. You have to understand that comparing cacao powders nutrition to other foods and claim cause its not the ''HIGHEST'' then its bad or worthless...... Cacao brings these nutritional values in a different angle than the rest of the foods you mentioned and also you wouldn't put the ''top of the list'' in a smoothie to make it chocolatey. I disagree with what you're saying and I also think your friend might have abused Cacao that is why he got ill from it....everything in moderation is key and more than a table spoon is too much imo I have 1 tspn a day and no adverse affects at all.Don't forget I'm a critical thinker and understand when taken in large doses it can harm you but so can anything else! There is a reason why it is called research cause they keep ''re'' ''searching'' and each time they do a research depending on many variables you can come out with a different outcome each time but your research is flawed on so many levels.Like if you agree :D

Natives of north and south American have been eating seeds as their staple for thousands of years "corn" - they soak the seeds in a natural lime to remove the husks and turn it into a masa to make the corn tortilla or used to make a porridge. This process made highly nutritious and sustained these native peoples for thousands of years as did wheat for the Europeans - so I don't understand that humans shouldn't eat seeds - even in the Far East rice is a base of their diet and I think rice is a seed as well - it's been thousands of years and these plants haven't gone extinct because we're eating their seeds - of course modern society has modified these grain and used chemical fertilizers but that's pretty much with all our food unless we go organic - and stay away from monsantos and their modified seeds that won't grow if we try to plant the seeds from the crops - So I think we can and are meant to eat seeds like other animal, birds and rodents for example. Some foods in nature can be very toxic for us and not at all for other animals - this is the workings of nature and thanks for the info 😊

The seed theory just isn't a good argument against cacao. Should we then stop eating pumpkin and sesame seeds, carob (yes there are seeds in those pods), almonds, any nuts, etc., etc., How about all grains, including seed grains like quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth, teff, etc. Some might say 'yeah' , but there is always an argument for and against any food. Vegetarians, fruitarians, meat-eaters fight all the time on these forums. Fact is, just about any food has nutritive qualities and some unhealthy components. Cacao in moderation is delicious and(regardless of what he is trying to profile) healthy, scientific studies have proven it!

I bought some chocolate chips that claimed 60 percent cacao. The ingredients listed only cocoa. I contacted company. And they said in the industry cacao and cocoa can be used interchangeably. I reported it to the Canadian food inspection agency. But if what they say is true... Hmmm. Food for thought.

So the latest is the lead and cadmium in chocolate. Not sure where it is coming from if anyone has more info on the subject that would be great. I found a local source on Hawaii that just dehydrates the bean so curious if there is a way to test the product? I personally just eat the raw bean with the fruit pulp straight out of the pod.

Cacoa is not as super as people think it is. Super foods relieve the pain in my back and legs. I served 10 years in the military, I also used to be powerlifter, those days or over. The only things that relieves the pain in my body is, ginger, garlic, rosemary, fenugreek. I haven't tried cilantro yet. Turmeric or Cacoa doesn't work for my extreme pain.

ofcourse things change with heat, and we are meant to soak nuts and seeds remember. the way is to learn how to eat. so use it as a medicine if it gives you elation. which would mean not all the time, for reason, and it surely is high in minerals if you make it in a coffee. instead of coffee,, which should also be irregular

Thank you for this info. However, Cacao is still full of nutrients. I'm not sure about the folks who are claiming that it is "highest" in Magnesium & ORAC value & I understand that cacao it's not on the top of the list per (100 grams) but, it is still on the list making it a lovely source of magnesium :) Therefore I don't think it should be shunned entirely.. but you're right in that it certainly shouldn't be consumed everyday, especially since it can exhaust the adrenals. Everything in balance & moderation. I think it would be interesting if you looked up the history of cacao & included that within the video. Considering has been used for centuries where it grows wild & is revered for its many medicinal healing properties.

Hi, the world eats a lot of cacao which are the seeds, so why doesn't the tree not exist anymore if we as humans keep eating the seeds? And it has been centuries - the tree should be extinct by now - I think it was the Europeans that discovered cacao from the Incas or from natives in South America and they probably had been eating cacao for centuries before or even a 1000 years before - birds and rodents eat seeds too and we as humans are part of the animal kingdom as well - so I think think humans can eat seeds too - otherwise a lot of plants would be e tincture because we ate all their seeds - there are also some plants and fruits we can't eat because they are toxic, even some fish would be toxic to us as well, like the puffer fish - so us not being meant to eat seeds doesn't make sense

"How do we know that we need THIS MANY antioxidants"
Exactly. The antioxidants in Cacao are called "Hormetic" compounds. The way these things work is that they put STRESS onto your body. The reason that that is a good thing is that your body builds resistance to the stress. It's similar to exercise. You're putting MILD stress onto your body, so that your body can compensate for it by building up resistance to the stress, which makes the stress beneficial. In fact, Exercise IS "hormetic". You can research this yourself.
The reason you don't want to do use Cacao to get antioxidants is because Cacao has SO MANY. It really does have a TON of antioxidants, David Wolfe is not lying when he says this. This has been proven.
But these are HORMETIC compounds. It is not good to have this many Hormetic compounds (antioxidants) all at once in one food. Because you are putting TOO MUCH stress onto your body. These things operate by what is called a "Dose-Response Curve"... Meaning that a small or moderate amount of these compounds (Like what you'd find in normal, unprocessed fruits + vegetables like blueberries, kale, etc..) is beneficial... But a HUGE amount (Like what is in Raw Cacao, which IS incomparable in antioxidant content will be putting TOO MUCH stress onto yourself. It would be like doing EXTREME exercise over and over again and never letting your body heal or compensate for the stress.
