There are plenty of reasons to have a second knife. Your second knife can be a smaller knife you can open, use, and close quickly without scaring non knife people, or lend to someone instead of lending them your sebenza, or perhaps your second knife is the ubiquitous sak. Personally, I'm all for carrying a small budget knife just for those situations.
I concur.
I too will carry family friendly knives for gatherings, for the same purpose
💯
Good point. I agree. I carry a Spyderco police and Victornox cadet .
I usually have a mulltitool on my belt, either a folder or small fixed blade depending on what I feel like carrying that day. I always have a larger fixed blade in my car.
One for work- you know dirty stuff, gunk, paint lids, packages, and one to cut food.
Let's be honest. Most people cut tape on Amazon boxes with their knives 😂.
If I carry a knife, it’s only defensive.
When opening a lot of boxes… I carried a box-cutter.
I know a lot of folks that carry a folder for work and a fixie for protection.
np with that but 2 foldies is doing to much
Who tf works with a knife. Razor for work and folder for protection.
@@Jake-bt3fcI'm a 52yr old working carpenter. I use my pocket knife at work as a draw knife, occasionally. I carry a small block planer in my pouches but, sometimes, the pocket knife just works better. I also keep a utility knife in my pouches. It all comes down to what works for you. I also carry a Wave+ on my belt in a sheath. If I drop my belt, I've got a multi tool and a pocket knife. At 52, I drop my belt as frequently as possible.
I do😊
@@Jake-bt3fc if you have ever been a fight a folder for protection is asking for Murphys law to happen. Doesn't open all the way, dexterity goes out the window when you get an adrenaline dump. Fixed for protection is the way, but avoiding a fight altogether is the best.
If I have to cut something in front of my inlaws, I'm not whipping out my Yojumbo.
Why not?
We gotta stop being so cucked dude. How the hell is this country going to survive the coming struggle if men are afraid of their pocket knives being seen
It’s always faster to switch to your second knife than reload
Per Jack Carr's advice, I carry my utility knife (Leatherman) and a self-defense blade (Esse Izula). This is primarily done to ensure that my self-defense blade is always sharp.
I'm 65...being old school ,a simple pocket knife is an every day staple in my pocket..... this old Buck Canoe has been in my left pocket for longer than I can remember and has come in handy at least 3 times a week for 30 or 40 yrs after it replaced my trusty case knife (I still have it ! ) .....like said a knife is a tool
From what I'm getting from you, you can't have enough blades on you. If you can carry 3, you might as well have 7 on you. Respect man, respect.
I usually carry a Swiss Army knife along with a seperate folder.
I normally carry a small knife on my keychain. It’s mostly just used as a backup incase I don’t have anything else on me. Otherwise I would have to try and use my keys to cut something.
*Looks down at fixed blade, folder, and slip joint.
Shit… guilty as charged! 🤣
lol banging on trees ..that’s bushcraft in one sentence 😂
I multiple knives everywhere I can. As others said, I like small knife to use in situations where knives raise eyebrows. I also just like knives.
Thanks for the "shout-out" in the video @Marine X! Yes Amazon is so weird that it will not deliver most folding pocket knives to Massachusetts. As for carry I tend to follow the "2 is 1, 1 is none" for backup. So I carry my pocket knife in my pocket and have another knife in a pouch that's in my backpack.
Thank you X! Great advice!
Your primary knife should be a folder pocket knife and your second knife ( fighting knife) should be a fixed blade.
One thing that bothers me a lot is when people say "I need a knife I can sharpen on a rock in the woods" When they're picking their EDC to take to the city every day.
First of all, if you're that worried about the apocalypse buy a worksharp, buddy. Secondly, how do you expect to unexpectedly get stranded in the woods on your way to work?
I carry a folding knife in my pocket, a fixed blade in my boot, and a multitool in a different pocket everywhere I go
But I'm also a truck driver so I often need the multitool, and I feel better having a fixed blade on me. It doesn't add any extra weight or complexity to my system
I carry a decent folder (940, PM2, or my Malibu) as my main and either a Victorinox Classic SD or Executive in my 5th pocket for the tweezers and scissors. Great combo for me every day needs
Thumbs up for the Malibu.
@@sjohnson4882 yeah it’s my current ride or die. Usually it’s my 940 but these days feeling the Malibu
Great video! I carry a pocket clip folder for quick, one-handed deployment. It's my #2 carry priority behind a flashlight. My other "always carry" items aside from wallet/keys & phone are notebook/pen (in my Allett wallet), LeverGear charging cable (on my keychain), and a swiss army knife primarily for scissors and screwdriver. The SAK blade serves as my "back up" in case I break my folder.
I like to buy folders when I can spare the money to. I don't have a huge collection but I do have an appreciation for what I have. So I find myself carrying two at once lately. Is it necessary? Absolutely not, but it is so fun for me to use what I buy. I don't make enough money yet to just buy knives to "collect" and have them sit on shelf for spare use. So everyday I get to pick out two knives to enjoy and learn. The "learning" is just comparing two different knives to one task. This lets me feel how each knife might work better over another for my needs. This process, in turn, allows me to shop smarter for other knives because now I have a better gauge on what I would enjoy using. And ultimately I kinda just like to enjoy variety in my life.
Anyways, thanks for uploading the video. It sparked comments, conversations, and personal musings on the topic.
I carry a Workpro box cutter as my primary blade while at work and a proper folder as my backup. Keeps the tape gunk off my actual knife so I can use it for food prep if needed
First of all, as an avid watcher of the Torque Test Channel, I must say, that is an impressive lineup of drills and impact drivers.
Second, I do carry a backup because there have been times when a buddy has borrowed my main carry knife and I have found myself needing one too. I keep a full size folder (usually the Toor Suitor) but keep a Spyderco LadyBug on my keyring. It adds little weight, but is more than capable of any “backup” duties I need it to complete.
I love me some torque test
Summer time Only carry 1, Winter will get a small sak or 5th pocket added. Always have a fixed in the truck and a back up in there as well.
If your first knife is a push dagger or cinch pik, it makes sense to cut apples and open mail with a secondary folder
“It's best to check your local laws before strapping on your whole arsenal.” Sound advice! I’m good with my always reliable Swiss army knife.
carrying a main blade and having a multitool with an extra blade, at times i forget to carry my folder but never forget my multitool.
Great challenge on the multiple knives carried that you see on a lot of videos. I tend to have a minimalist carry but usually have two knives. The Midnite Manager always. Scissors, back up flashlight and pen. And then I select another knife for three day depending on what I'm doing and what I think I will need. This could be a bigger SAK or a bigger single bladed Knife. I live in the UK so we have limited on what we can carry in public.
I usually carry a little slip joint for misc stuff like cutting up apples and for public use. My work knife is for cutting open bags of fertilizer/ mulch, cutting strapping, and zip ties.
I carry a SAK Hiker as a multi tool using blades for small trimming tasks and other rough use such as digging out weeds. My primary knife is a CIVII Mini Praxis. Great video as usual.
Your videos have prevented me from jumping off a bridge. Thank you 🙏
The closest to a backup as I get is a knife I don't care that much about in the center console in Truck Norris. If I forget my daily carry or I have to risk heavy damage doing something sketchy fixing something on the side of the road I have it.
I keep a regular folder and a victorinox card as the backup. The card is small enough to fit in my wallet. I mainly end up using the scissors and toothpick the most.
I carry a tpt slide for cutting down boxes and have a sebenza in a holster for anything else thats not a box. The tpt is on a magnetic quick release from urban carver and ive been loving this set up everyday for past year. But i agree having two full knives is tad much
I completely agree. I view my EDC load out as an extension of situational awareness. If it's morning or afternoon, I dont carry my flashlight. If I'll be in a restricted zone, I dont bring a locking knife and bring a Svord Mini Peasant instead. Love the content!
I always bring a flashlight with me just in case I can't go home before sundown like a friend would invite me to stay longer and have dinner somewhere else.
Flashlights are useful inside during the day. A lot of rooms have areas that aren't lit well and if you need to find something small you dropped on the floor a light still helps a ton.
I've used my flashlight on two occasions. I was inside a huge super market when the power went out for 20 seconds, but with my flashlight I didn't worry. One time at a mall which had a section under construction and completely turned off the power. I went to a dark bathroom with my flashlight because I couldn't wait any longer haha. Thinking back, it was risky going in there😅
'Load out'😂😂😂 bruh, you not soap mctavish😅😅😂😂
I recently got my first pocket fixed blade, a mkm pocket tango n it’s been a solid primary blade.. but it is kinda small so I’ve paired it with one of my larger spydercos on days I need to breakdown boxes or just want something to fidget with 😂 probably wouldn’t ever go out in public with two knives though, I’d be feeling like one step closer to the cold steel hancho lol
I have a backup in my backpack in the event that I rushed out of the house in the morning and forgot my daily carry. Also have a spare in my car just in case as well but those knives basically never see any action.
Never really thought of them as backups, but I do carry multiple for different purposes. Benchmade 940 (semi-serrated)for General use and if I need to loan one out for a couple minutes. CRKT No Bother, it's basically a sharpened pry bar, small in blade length and overall length but thicc and fixed blade so no joints to fail. And finally a Mora Kansbol, and yeah I think it might be a bit excessive but I've recently become a believer in Moraknivs, didn't want to accept that you could get such a good knife for so little money. So if I have to give a reason for the last one, it's because it makes me happy. 😁
Hey, never thought we’d have much in common but I too, crank it at my desk
I normally carry (2) knives, a Para 3 or something similar and a VIctorinox SD on my vehicles fab. I don’t consider the SD as a backup, but more as add tools.
Gun, extra mag, knife are my are minimum daily carry. Add ons include one or a mix of: expandable baton, brass knuckles, stun gun, oc pepper spray, lighter, flashlight. I’m skinny so I can’t get away with much. It literally just depends where I’m going, tone of the city, what I’m wearing, weather, time of year. Winter is always best for me to go all out and over do it lol
I’ve carried a folder for 20 years. Now I have a prybrid with the utility blade and a multi tool also with a blade. Been thinking I really don’t need the folder anymore, but I’m just so used to having it clipped to the top of my right pocket that I can’t seem to leave the house without it.
Habit over function I guess.
I wish a lot more EDC influencers make content like this. I remember when EDC used to be just about necessity. Now, it's more boujee stuff made normal by most EDC influencers than the stuff that you really need to be honest.
I use a high quality Kershaw at work. Got it for 50 bucks at a pawn shop.
I switch to one of my automatic Benchmades after work because I often shop and run errands
My primary carry is a SAK of some sort. If i need a blade, it's the first thing i grab. If it's a task that isn't well suited for a slip joint, i have the locking blade on my Leatherman Rebar that's in my pocket pouch. If i know im cutting something that will destroy a knife edge, i use the utility knife in my pouch. I've tried to eliminate as many redundancies as I can with my edc. I have a few with some tools on my swiss and Leatherman, but i view the leatherman tools, apart from the pliers, as backup for my swiss.
I carry a kershaw blur which can be intimidating to non knife people but I also have keychain blades and tools that are subtle. Sometimes I also have a multi tool.
For work, I EDC two folding knives. One is a standard drop point blade. The other is a hook blade for cutting seat belts, opening carpet or drywall. In my go-bag, I carry two multi-tools, one pliers based and the other with a wrench. Then a pair of collapsible shears for cutting clothing off of patients.
When I’m not working, I carry one folding knife and keep the wrest in the go-bag, which I typically hide in the car.
I'm guilty of buying 2 of of everything with in reason, but I don't carry a back up.
Can you do a show on charging all your devices, like your drills your tire inflator, your battery charger, and everything that needs charging.
I almost never carry a backup knife but I always carry my LM Wave. I only rarely use it for the knife blade, sometimes the serrated blade is handy. Pliers are the most used option followed by the file set.
Interesting take my man, well done! So personally, I grew up in the back woods of NM and I only toted around a Camillus Cub Scout knife then later a SAK adventurer (Great knife, love that thing). For Huck Finn like character, I found that to do well with all my needs! At a point, I was (and still am) a massive TNP fan, as such I carried a Leatherman Juice or Wave, a SAK tinker, and Spyderco Delica. Day to day needs, having all that on your person is way overkill. For example, having a Leatherman is great, but they are heavy and under utilized in common day to day task, so they live in the tool box, truck, or camp kit now (I swear I don't have a problem). These days I have a couple kits for day specific needs/tasks:
Casual Work Day - SAK SD, Spyderco Delica or Benchmade Barrage mini or BM 940, and a TOPs MSK 2.5 (don't judge, but it's my PB&J lunch knife!).
Nice/Suit Work Day - SAK SD, Buck 373/505/or 503, and TOPs MSK on a neck lanyard under the dress shirt (don't judge, it's my day to feel like James Bond and have a cool tool up my sleeve!)
Weekend around home - SAK Tinker, Buck 110 Slim, and the TOPs MSK (don't judge me, it's my Amazon box slayer!)
Weekend in the woods - SAK Tinker, Benchmade Crooked River or Buck 110/112, TOPs BOB or Gerber Strongarm, and the TOPs MSK (don't judge, it's my smore stick shaver/anti-raccoon deterrer)
Hunting trip (this is all business) - SAK Adventure, Buck 110 (Slim or OG), Buck 119 and the TOPs MSK because I know that knife so well. (Why no ultra high end blades? I'll ask you this, ever try sharpening cm154, s30v, s90v, or other super steels in the field? It sucks! The 440HC/1090 steels of this kit take an edge quickly on a field sharpener. That and I won't be too heart broken if any are lost during the hunt.) But, since I am a knife nerd, I am eyeing a couple other hunting knifes to augment this setup, like the Benchmade Altitude for the Hi-Viz Orange (knives get lost quite easily after a trophy is won and you're in the middle of processing it).
Alright the TOPs MSK comments/jokes are well worn now, but you see a trend, I adore this knife and I could very well skin an Elk with just this knife just as I could spread PB on bread. I use it every day, I know how it handles, and I tune it once a month (less I'm going on a hunt, then I'll bring it to a mirror edge and leave it). The point is, know what you are using, and let it have a purpose if you bring it along. I always have a SAK of sorts, because of the tweezers and toothpick. I like having a solo folding knife as they are "less scary" when you go to open a box at work, or take off those dang zip ties on a toy at a kid's birthday party. A fixed blade knife, it's just safe in that it doesn't have points of failure like a locking blade, and when paired up with a SAK or Leatherman, you can have a two and done setup! Use your kit and know it's limitations! There is no "one size fits all", so you just have to put some thought into what your needs are during X day.
My parting message to you fine ladies and gents - Purchase intentionally, within your means, and don't feel like you need to be like me or the other Joneses! I greatly appreciate these tools and I like to shake things up a bit from time to time. But for you, it could mean one simple folder. (If that is you, my wallet and bank account are jealous of you!)
My backup is the multi tool in my bag
I carry two knives, usually a larger drop point and a smaller wharncliffe. The smaller wharnie is for opening stuff, the bigger drop point is for hard tasks/self defense. Do I need to carry two? Nah, not really. But I love knives and have over 100 of them, so I want most of them to get some pocket time.
...and THAT'S why they call me "Bobby 2 Knives". 😂
I think you said it best with your line about 'bring the right tool for the job' or however you worded it. Too often people are using knives or tools in a way that they weren't ever really intended to be used, and then that device fails. Are there circumstances beyond our control where a tool needs to be used in a manner for which it was never intended? Absolutely. In an emergency, life--or-death situation, I'm not going to care if I destroy a $250 knife if it means survival. But realistically, we're not often finding ourselves in these situations so prior planning can ensure we're bringing the best tool for the task at hand, rather than bringing a suite of tools for a 'just in case' scenario.
It's easy to overpack with 'what-ifs.' Interesting take on this stuff, dude. New to the channel here, but you have a new subscriber!
As a carpenter, I carry one of my Spyderco Manix 2s for general use. I also have a swiss army knife OR Leatherman Wave as a backup, BUT not necessarily for the blade. The other tools on a multitool are far more useful for my needs than the extra blade is. Sometimes, a utility knife will join the mix if the cutting task involves highly abrasive materials or is done on a dirty surface. I have yet to encounter a situation that requires more than 1 edc knife, including possible self-defense scenarios, because I dont let my knives go dull and don't use them for prying, batoning, chopping, or anything else a folder shouldn't do.
I usually carry an SAK and a folder. At work, sometimes just the SAK. If i think I'm going to need an additional tool, it goes in the backpack.
Good video, I think that back up knife thing goes back to outdoor wilderness survival and has just bled into edc with the assistance of people having so many extremely cool knives.
In my case its my Arc as my "pocket knife". But i also carry my elementum utility for breaking down boxes, and my Victorinox just so happens to have one too (The nail clipper ones).so thats 3 at once. Lol. That being said, i have thought about getting another normal pocket knife for if i choose to not carry the multitool or leave the multitool tool in a bag instead to cut down on weight.
My leatherman wave is my go to knife. My Victorinox micro sd is on my key ring, but mostly because the tweezers are great for metal splinters. The extra blade on it doesn't see any use, though. The wave already has a slicing blade and a serated one. Any other blade I carry is when I need something specialized.
i carry a case knife on my hip which usually my go to but always have my swiss in my pocket cause its not big and has the few extras and just yesterday i was in a hurry pulled it cut some rope and left to my work day leaving it at the shop spent the day using my swiss so tired by the end of the day still forgot it there
I carry a main folder for knife stuff, a Leatherman for the multitools, and a slipjoint or Victorinox. Main knife gets mainly used first. The leatherman just happens to have 2 blades on it but I could live without them. It is handy when I have the tool in my hand already while working and I need a knife. The slipjoint, usually a swiss army knife is mostly there because I like them and they add extra function. I can also hand it to someone if they ask for a knife, they also aren't noticed as much as my orange spyderco endura or something like that. They're also good for when my knife is my only tool available for a job and I know it'll mess up the edge good whether it's a high end steel or not. Like scraping something. I'll use the usually cheaper and easier to maintain swiss army knife for that and keep my main blade sharp for another task. That doesn't happen super often but enough that I carry a back up blade. I've thought about a small sharpener but a swiss army knife is smaller and pockets easier, sometimes has 2 blades already, plus whatever other tools. I come across a good use to the inline reamer on the Alox models I typically carry like once a week and don't have a 3 drills handy to poke a hole. Overall I am aware I don't need all that, the Leatherman alone covers all those tasks. It's very nice to have a knife based tool for cutting though, so I could ditch the swiss army knife or traditional slipjoint but I've carried one for so long dropped in my pocket that I feel naked without it. I did ok for years without a leatherman but I also think I would end up missing it too much not to have it, also having an easily deployable one hand opening and locking knife is extremely convenient a lot of the time and I would miss it too. I've actually tried scaling down my carry and the knife and 2 tools that happen to have knives is my kit and it'll stay that way for a while. I also carry a flashlight but my phones got a light, a pen and a small comb. Everything but the main knife amd leatherman go into a pocket organizer that fits really nice in my from right pocket and I hardly notice it.
Swiss Army Knife manager & white river fc 3.5”.
my SAK gets wayy more use and lent out than my big knife, in turn my big knife stays sharp and dangerous.
Multi tool + fixed blade is the most versatile.
Well, at a blade show type situation its more about showing off your collection
Imagine carrying a backup phone on you.
I sometimes carry a second knife. It’s often a slip joint. I don’t need to, I just like having a modern and a slip joint.
It occurred to me a while back that most of the time I don't need a knife at all, and in the times that I might, a SAK would probably do.
I technically carry two blades. One is a gerber pocket knife which I use for a lot of stuff (opening packages, cutting string/rope, typical knife stuff) and a gerber multi-colored with the sliding pliers. I use both on a nearly daily basis. I wear pants/shorts pretty well constantly with cargo pockets, so space isn't an issue.
I know they are dumb but I really love tactical looking knives, so when im carrying a protech or microtech around, I like to keep a slip joint knife in my pocket so if I do need to cut something and the situation would be not be receptive to seeing an auto or otf pop out, ill have something much less threatening to use as an alternative. I very much dislike calling needless attention to myself whenver possible.
I work in the trades amd i carry a fastback as “back up” knife bc task i use it for at work would just ruin my normal edc knife. when im off work, i just carry my regular edc knife
I do the exact same thing, usually go through about a blade a day with my fast back and I drop it on the concrete a few times a week. When I get home lately I’ve had my sebenza in my pocket. Imagine using that on site 😂
i basically do the exact same thing with my nicer knives. Don’t get me wrong, I actually use them and they’re not show pieces but not to the extent i put my utility knives through
I wear two knives . A self defence fixed blade concealed behind my belt (i work at night in paris, sometimes, getting back to my place afterwork is kinda dangerous) and a folding knife, to work, open boxes, cut packages strings, and all the things you'do with a edc folder
That s why i carry two knifes as edc on daily basis . If i was in the usa i would conceal carry a 9mm handgun and a folding knife ...
I often carry 2 knives. I work construction and my personal life is spent in the woods.
Knives get beat up! Sometimes I use a blade to open Sheetrock or strip wire.
I like to keep a razor edge blade and a beater for splitting wood or opening doors:p
I agree. But like said, if that's your thing, roll with it. I don't carry a back up knife because I don't see the purpose for me carrying more then one I do carry a key chain knife if I need to use one to cut paper or such in public that's but if the job calls for my knife then out it comes and fights the scary bag or box and so on.
I LOVE your channel ! May I suggest, as you mentioned in this vid, could you do a series on "knife rules " in each State. My experience is
the information o ?what's allowed is very vague.
Thanks much. Not a bad idea
There's an app called legal blade. Tells you the knife laws in every state
For years I used to carry one on each side. Usually they were a matched pair. But the reasoning was twofold. If I had one sleeve or the other caught in machine, I had a knife I could reach. Also, if I needed a knife to assist in handgun retention, I could always reach a knife. In addition to that, I’d frequently carry a Leatherman or a SAK just to widen my capabilities.
But yeah, I see some EDC stuff and I’m like “uh why????” When stuff is all pretty or something,
I carry a razor blade for opening stuff and my fixed blade for protection or when camping
I generally EDC a Cold Steel folder (Recon 1, Voyager etc) as a do-it-all main blade and a Leatherman Skeletool KBx as a backup to open packages, slice something quick when i don't feel like using the main blade and scaring the crap out of a karen in the office 😂.
the right tool for the right job.. i agree the redundancy of 2 knifes for EDC is too much. however i usually have a few blades on me lol
Rotational EDC usually a folder and a clinch pick
Got your back X! -Go Army!
I don’t really carry backup knives, put I have multiple bags that I use, depending on the situation - and some of those have knives or multitools in them. And since I tend to carry a Victorinox Cadet in my pants most of the time, I regularly end up carrying multiple knives.
More than two even, if you include the tiny Victorinox Signature Lite on my keychain. (I wouldn't consider that one a proper knife, though)
I carry my main blade and I keep a Leatherman Wave in my car along with the ratchet attachment and all the bits.
I carry two knives. 1 for utility and one for collecting dna.
I carry a primary knife + a victorinox compact. The victorinox contains my backup blade and scissors.
I used to carry a dedicated backup knife BECAUSE it makes me feel like I’m freakin’ Jason Bourne. I felt so tactical and badass… it was a phase. It got old pretty quick.
Being a novice knife guy, is the Civivi Praxis and Mini Praxis a decent starting point?
Yup or the CJRB Pyrite-Light. Go check out the video I posted a few hours ago on Amazon deals
@@MarineX Thanks!
Youve never lost a knife?... Don't know about you but I actually need a knife for my day to day. If I lose my knife, my life becomes significantly more inconvenient. Thats where my back up comes in. It's usually a neck knife though. It's out of the way it's lightweight and it's capable
Aayyee I have that same multi end bosch. That's actually strong to be 12v
I pack 3 knives daily , a small fixie , a large stockman slipjoint and a modern folder as my main .
I'm left handed (but i shoot right). I carry a dedicated left handed knife for self defense in case I can't access my primary protection
Hi. In principle I agree with you… that said, I carry two Victorinox folding knives with me every single day. Attached to my keychain is a Victorinox Rambler. It has the tools I use most often, is small, light, and, due to being attached to my keychain, will always be with me. In my back pocket, I keep a Victorinox Craftsman. The Craftsman is a 91mm knife, with a bunch of extra capabilities over the Rambler. I carry both to manage different use cases. Keychain knife, always there, by virtue of being always there, you know you don’t have to think about it. Back pocket knife. Many more capabilities, can cover the capabilities of the keychain knife, except for being literally attached to me (keychain knife is attached to keychain, keychain is attached to pants via belt loop) so, for me, two pocket knives makes sense because in these use cases, they each actually provide extra capabilities the other doesn’t provide.
I think those are gear nerds that have to carry multiples. With the exception if somebody carries a Swiss army knife, because they want to have the scissors to trim their toenails, I would allow that that would actually make sense. I would say I keep finding myself needing pliers to pull nails out of my tire on a regular basis, but I don’t want to carry a full line Leatherman. I want something small and easy to carry. I haven’t found it yet. Maybe I just need to get a pair and keep in the truck.
I’ve got a massive collection but I’ll only carry One on my person rather then mutiple .
Three is a minimum two = one 1= none
Most of the time I’m carrying 2. Not as a backup, 1 beater(usually the Ontario Rat), and then the nice one(more than likely with a price of over $300). There are just some things you don’t want to use your nice knife on or you don’t want to let people borrow it.
I carry 2 my pocket knife as a tool for cutting rope, zipties etc and my neck knife is for food, not only that but I am a knife maker so I always carry one of my own aside from my folder
I appreciate how practical your content is.I usually carry a main blade and a multi tool, like a swiss army or a leatherman juice. I think we have become programmed to believe that we have to have all these things just in case something happens when deep down we know we really dont need all this crap.
My second knife is a Tactile Behar. It’s the one I hand people. Everyone knows how to use it and extremely light.
I carry a 5-inch benchmade socp folder and a 2 inch Kershaw launch 4 each. I'd say that they only real reason to carry 2. It is silly to carry 2 similar sized ones.
A good backup knife is a utility blade with replaceable blade
I pretty much exclusively carry a GEC slip-joint or Victorinox sak. Only one or the other at a time.
If i have an actual job to do I have tools in my vehicle or in my garage at home.
I carry a gun for protection.
Most of the time there is no need for a second knife the only good reason I carry a second sometimes that I think is often overlooked is that some of us find ourselves in situations where we need to use our knives for dirty jobs, in environments where we don’t have access to a good way to clean the knife. When a knife has been cutting through grease and grime, dirt and blood, it’s a wonderful thing to have a second clean knife to use for my lunch. Then when I get back home I can clean both knifes and have the, ready for whatever else life throws my way.
