A short video on how to properly apply jute and veg tie downs to your already constructed base layer. If there’s anything else you’d like to see or want to know, just hit me up.
Very well done sir. Very to the point. I have a very close friend of mine that is a retired sniper from the army and you mirrored a lot of his information. Earned you a subscriber!!
Great video! It covered the information I needed without a bunch of off-topic stuff. If I want information, I don't want to sit through a bunch of stuff I don't need or am not interested in. Thank you for staying on topic and getting through the information in a timely manner.
This is the most concise video I've seen. I am rebuilding a suit I made 20 years ago and it's nice to see how the craft has evolved. You have helped me correct a few mistakes and vastly improve the quality of my suit. Thank you sir!
Perfect video! Very on point and informative. Please do more, maybe on concealment and camo - its nice to hear it from the pros :) Edit: Turns out you alredy did. Top notch stuff!
Thank you for the video man! Please also show us how to select and tie vegetation to suit. I found tactical concealment guys and they have a lot of interesting stuff. Very expensive, but looks solid.
Hey really nice to see you sharing your skills. I have a few questions. is your know how purely based on your military experience? Would you patrol long distances in the suit or carry it to a final point for the stalk? Follow on to that - are these jute suits not very unbreathable? What do you think of leaf suits that have a mesh base? Thanks and I'm sorry if these questions are long.
I wouldn’t personally wouldn’t if I didn’t have to. Keep it in your ruck until you get closer to your FFP. But depends on the terrain and mission. This entire suit is mesh. Those leafy suits are kinda lame in my opinion and they are not durable at all.
Do you use Rit, spray-paint, or other to make your own custom jute colors? Sniper veil/face veil? Great video! Thanks! Also, on the hood do you use shorter jute and natural veg.? Thank you for your service!
Are those water proof or won't absorb water, the strings? One guy bought a suit and when it rained the suit became a sponge and got really heavy. Went home tired after returning from a duck hunt. 🌧 💧 🦆 & what kinda mesh jacket is that?
Well you could lay on a shooting mat/pad or some kind of layer between you and the ground. As far as heat loss, additional clothing layers. But a ghillie is pretty hot. So even by itself it’ll keep you pretty warm.
@@Skullduggerous_pirate TY your the response. In my neck of the woods, we experience extreme cold rain turning to freezing rain. If the ghillie or under layers arent waterproof and breathable, can lead to hypothermia. Tops of legs getting freezing rain can as well. Been there done that and I know the beginning stages of hypo. Percipitation falling on a plastic cover draped over something is noisey at best. Thoughts?
@@haven0915 you could sew a poncho lining on the inside of the suit. As far as the shooting mat he mentioned, just cut it to size and sew it to the ouside of the suit. This method means you dont have to carry a shooting mat, your protecting the suit from sharp objects on the ground, and your not losing body heat to the ground.

@@timothyratliff1422 I’d make a grid pattern out of para cord. It’s easier to work with instead of the smaller netting and usually much stronger

Awesome video. Very informative. I’ve been thinking about building out a viper hood for coyote hunting and this video pushed me to do it.
Maybe some examples of how you tie in and or choose your veg. Rules of thumb for choosing veg and breaking up outline.

Hey brother. Great video. I gotta say, your cheating washing your Ghillie like that:) just teasing a. Have a great day brother.
I’d like to see some more examples of how to add vegetation for different environments.

Cobra hood.

Jute will absorb a lot of water and become heavy. The base layer is synthetic and doesn’t hold much water. But it’s mesh so it’s far from water proof.
What I've learned is that there's no such thing as a "perfect" ghillie suit. It all comes down to what applications best "suit" the mission
Question... what is the best way to protect the body from heat loss and moisture freeze in a long term prone position?
Well you could lay on a shooting mat/pad or some kind of layer between you and the ground. As far as heat loss, additional clothing layers. But a ghillie is pretty hot. So even by itself it’ll keep you pretty warm.

I wonder if growing dreadlocks could help disperse the human silhouette, even if just ever so slightly
However, they would also get extremely disgusting crawling around on the ground with your ghilli suit
@@mrperson.723 Contrary to popular belief, dreadlocks are very easy to clean with very few items found in grocery stores, but yea i get what youre saying,
do you still do a mud wash if you want to blend into green background?
Yes. You want to weather that jute abs the base layer so it doesn’t look so “new”. It gives it a more natural look.
What is the name of that shirt?
Is that natural colored jute? Or has it been dyed?
Natural
Maybe show the vegging process after the construction and how to’s and why’s so folks understand the rational behind what your doing.
A second video is coming
You got a link to that jute?

Try these guys
cool for sure. make some more vidoes
Just dropped the follow up to this video
Why burn the green ends? Why not let them loosen up, untrawl to add more strings to one place, cover more in that place? , nice video!
Because they’ll unravel and become unserviceable
That is a Lark’s Head knot, not a clove hitch. Though both are used as an anchor knot. Just for your future SA
