How to know someone's type is mistyped when it's mistyped?? A lot of people usually won't even realize it. For example an estp might get entj and the estp thinks the descriptive entj is very cool and even cooler because it's 'apparently' the rarest type right now. However, now the estp goes around trying to be an entj or trying to fit in the definition given on the 'internet' and hinders their own personal development. Likewise, a infp can get infj and wonder why they don't come across as more stable or something.
Can you also talk about the subtypes of a type and how it is formed and how it affects the particular person in the subtype, someday if it's not too much work for you??
@@cosmo4288 I don’t think that when a person mistypes they will suddenly want to fit with everything including the things they don’t relate to, I just think that since they want to admire themselves they will admire the type they think they are more and will learn to use the functions of those types more subconsciously once they learn it isn’t that bad, I thought I was ENFP for a while and now even though I think I am not anymore I learnt to admire enfp strengths in that period of time and try to put that mindset of admiring it all since it is conforming
That means you don't have a right hand either, as it has no hand that it's to the right of. As someone who was born with only one kidney, I've thought about this before.
I almost could've lost my left hand due to a serious infection after getting my finger crushed by a door when I was 3... Guess you didn't want to know that...
@@Chigger And if not using a term that everybody understands for his hand, then how should he tell us wich hand he lost without building and unnecessarily long sentence?
I am VERY much an ENFP outside of school, but in the classroom, I've adapted enough to the school environment that my psychology teacher guessed I was an ISTJ.
@@Julia-LArt The very nature of the public school environment enourages and rewards conformity. Adapting like this is normal, especially if you're nonconfrontational EDIT: Nonconfrontational meaning (in this context) you value social harmony and how you fit into the social environment. I don't know how to better explain myself here.
@@angstydoodles1101 with respect, you aren’t the original commenter of this thread, but yes perhaps the above ENFP wants to conform, but that’s not my experience of the personality type. What do you mean by “public school” ? Here in the UK that means private school- for the elite, wealthy of society. Not sure how you denoted that from the op?
If you want to type yourself correctly; study "Cognitive Functions" proposed by Jung. Even If you want to determine your Big Five Type 16personalities isn't the best place to do so. 16personalities is based on Big Five model and only takes dichotomies from MBTI, which creates all the confusion. And if you score 50% on a trait in Big Five, it just means that trait of yours is pretty balanced.
@@psychedeliac he’s literally the only MBTI youtuber I know that still talks about the letters and not the cognitive functions as the main topic in his videos I don’t understand
@Erza Scarlet I’m aware of them but it’s honestly kind of outrageous how much he makes everyone else get mistyped cause of the amount of times he talks about letters like they’re what MBTI is all about
I think being completely objectively is very difficult. I used to get INTJ a lot in mbti test because that type was what I perceived myself to be. But naturally by educating myself I was able to deduce that I was the former. And in a sense FJ is trying to make an entertaining and educational to hold people's attention. It wouldn't be fun if he said go figure it out yourself. I do agree with you in a sense that he isn't what an ideal mbti educator be but his videos do bring a lot of new people and ideas.
guys good tip here- Look into jumper types too. this is where a lot of people go wrong. like you could be using your third function over your second. for an INTJ it would be feeling, but that doesn't make you an INFJ because INTJs have introverted feeling/ extroverted thinking and INFJs have extroverted feeling/ introverted thinking. for IXXJ/EXXP types sometimes jumper or not you are just going be able to use your thinking and feeling functions evenly and for the EXXJ/IXXPs their second and third functions are intuition and sensing. Mainly focus on what your dominant is and research the 2 types with that same first function.
@Kim Fabaceae its similar to looping but its but it happens automatically for some people without being in the unhealthy mindset loops happen in. For example look at the guy that runs the cognitive function theory channel, he is an INFJ Ti jumper.
If you’re scoring 50/50, check out the cognitive functions (check them out even if you have clear results actually). The letters can be a little different in context of the other letters. So a simple multiple choice test that asks everyone the same questions is going to have quite a bit of error. Ideally a test would give a group of questions to determine middle 2 letters (NF/NT/SF/ST), then route to different questions for each for J/P, and then route to last group of questions E/I. I always tested INXP, usually slightly INFP. But when I learned about cognitive functions, I’m 99.99% sure I’m INFJ. Funnily my mom scored INFJ on the test and when we went over the functions stack, we typed her as INFP. These typings make so much more sense
Same here, I got INFP on the 16 personalities test. But when I studied the cognitive functions and did a cognitive functions test, I was typed as an INFJ.
yes. whenever I do any MBTI test it gives me ISTJ/INTJ (50/50 N and S) but reading about the functions made me realize that I am IXTP (probably INTP since my Se is too low to be inferior, so maybe it's a trickster) more than IXTJ, because I use Ti much more than Si or Ni (and also realizing my inferior function helped a lot when I started to look a it)
same thing happened to me!! after years of getting infp, enfj, and infj dping different tests, reading the functions showed me that im most likely infj.
As people get older, generally, they will become more able to use ALL of the functions with more ease. For instance, although I am an INTP, and not particularly organized by nature, (Clutter is pretty much a way of life.) I have learned how to effectively and efficiently plan/pack for a trip, and fool people into thinking that I am an organized person. My INTJ father has always been able to do this, and by watching/learning from him, I internalized that skill to the point that now that I have my own family, keeping track of those details is my default role.
This. I'm an ENFJ, and I can't tell you how much easier life is for a mature ENFJ. Mastering my tertiary Se was a huge growth point. Now that scatterbrained teen is the grown woman who can be counted on to manage things and keep the "details" of life running smoothly. I think that's probably true of most types - the young version of you is quite different than the mature version of you. And a lot of that has to do with growing into those lower functions. When you meet a "dysfunctional" person of a certain type, I think it's usually someone who failed to hit those growth points.
Both of you put this very well and I completely agree! Now that I'm older, most of my kids are adults, I've grown into the abilities that rattled me as a teen. 2 of my kids tested the same as me, INFP-T, and weren't believing it because they think I have all the answers and am wise in ways they don't think they'll ever be. Yet when I look at them and how they act and react it's nearly identical to teen/young adult version of me. Interestingly this has given them both strength because now when I tell them to hang in there and keep trying because it gets better or easier they actually believe me and see that their parents made it (dad's an ENFP-T) and have both said it gives them hope. Neither myself nor dad are exceptional in any particular way but we both survived rough beginnings and passed on our experiences to them. We were both walking disasters though a few decades ago. Growing up really does help smooth the rough edges and give us reason to practice all our skills and traits regardless of which are our favorites. ❤️
Yeah, in tests I tend to get close to 50/50 for P/J (INTx part is a lot clearer) but when I have looked at the cognitive functions, INTP side becomes a lot clearer. But INTPs can certainly learn to fake organization and planning: Si and Ne provide the capability to pull from past experiences and extrapolate from that, and Ti is certainly helpful that it all, you know, makes sense, so I can treat it as a puzzle to solve and come up with a working solution how to proceed, and that certainly can look like an organized plan...while actually it is just a working solution which still contains enough "well, if that doesn't work, I can try this" room for rolling with the punches, and further demands for exact schedules and budgets make me fall apart.
INFP here. I thought for the longest time I was an INTP. Because I do make the majority of my big decisions based on what’s logical, and what makes sense. For example, going to college. I went to college, I filled out all the forms, I decided where to go based on what would cost the least amount of money for my family. Or going to my job that I hate everyday because I know it pays well and is close to where I live, or getting a good deal on a gas saving car that I didn’t like. But that’s the thing. I HATE these things. I go to work because I know I need to, and school because it’s practical. But those choices have never sat well with me. When I think of decisions I’ve made that I’ve been the most happy after, its the ones where I kinda screwed logic. Like the one time I ditched school because I had a good feeling about it. Or when I took a class outside my major that didn’t count for pretty much anything, but just felt like one I needed to take. And that’s where I think the root of it is. It’s not necessarily what you’re capable of, but what you’re comfortable with.
Same here also! tho I think a lot of people have said this but, although the only difference between an infj and an infp are the letters J and P, when it comes to their cognitive functions they actually have nothing in common! So its best if you learn cognitive functions individually to type yourself instead of using the 16p test since its not exactly accurate. Tho Fj has already gone through this topic so u should check that vid of him instead!!
@@gel2234 I agree with this completely. I'm an INFP, and I used to wish that I could be an INFJ so I could get more done. I though I would still be me except organized and less of a procrastinator hahaha, but when I found out my BFF is an INFJ, I realized that we are actually very different and we approach life completely differently. So now I'm happy that I'm an INFP, and I just work on being better with the organizing stuff even though it's a challenge. I wouldn't want to give up the parts of my personality that I love just to be more organized 😂
@@termitesc.aardwolf3644 LOL. Are you saying we are late. We may be very late in the game of life but if I need to be somewhere on time, I often turn up early. This is because I hate letting people down.
Omg!! I really needed this!! My best friend and my sister literally have 50/50 on F and T and idk if they are more enfp or more entp and they give off a vibe of both the types but Al ENFP vibe is more thankfully. Thank you FJ, this one will be very educational and helpful for me because i cannot figure out how to distinguish between something which is 50/50 in typology. I don't think anyone can understand which side is more effective when things get too balanced. Btw, it's really funny how you used this INFJ or INFP as the thumbnail though.
I advise you to go and check the functions. They are the most correct way to find the mbti type, instead of typing for the letters, which is not that accurate. Shortly, it is about explaining how the person processes information and how they think. For example ENTP and ENFP use extroverted intuition as their primary function, which is abbreviated to NE, which briefly sees possibilities and abstract connections. While as a secondary function ENTP uses introverted thinking, TI, which briefly thinks by looking at a situation from multiple perspectives and evaluating options, while ENFP uses introverted feeling, FI, which is based on internal moral values, and that's where they differ. After that there are two more functions, but I won't explain everything to you. I advise you to investigate the matter, it is a much more accurate method than the one described in the video. I myself, after taking the test, thought I was infp, but wasn't sure whether I was more feeling or thinking. I inquired, and realized I was intp.
@@darthjarjarbinks3749 thank you but i found the easy out after watching this video and i am sure both of them are enfps because they are feeling oriented but try their hardest to stay on the thinking side and everything is not about the cognitive functions because we all have all the cognitive functions but thank you for your advice
that's where ppl mistype Venti (Genshin Impact) as ENFP just because he is funny, optimistic, and all the stereotypes ENFPs have, but he is actually an ENTP
Always awesome to watch your videos FJ! ☺️ As a HSP with social anxiety, I always tested INFP (with around 45/55 split for E and I) and I am confident of the XNFP. My best friend also tested INFP but we're really different in lots of ways which always confused me. (Ofc, people are all different and their own personalities can't be contained in just one general type) But where they want to take time to think things through, I'm impatient and like "lets just do it!!" Where they're really private I'm oversharing things and constantly updating them on stuff I find cool or my life's little dramas. So after reading about cognitive functions and doing some self reflection, pretty sure ENFP!
I'm ENFP, and my F has varied from 51% to 57%. I think I feel more awkward if something is decided purely on feeling and not considering facts and logic at all. I myself might feel upset, that my value's aren't met, but still I root for the more rational choice, rather than "what felt right". I remind other's that we are not the sum of our feelings; feelings are something that come and go and pass through us. Also I can regret after making decision based on a feeling rather than logic. I think I try to balance them as well as I can? Also I admire wisdom and great logisticians so logic is kind of one of my core values, and maybe that's why it's important for me to value both? So...At the end of the day it kind of ends up to my values, which is typical for F then...? All righty!
If Your 16 Personalities Test is 50/50... is because you took the wrong test, 16personalities is not an MBTI test. I repeat it is not an MBTI test, it does not look into functions. It is a Big Five test, adapted for MBTI. But even then, descriptions of the types has nothing to do with MBTI mainly. It uses stereotyped archetypes to describe types, MBTI is supposed to describe cognition mainly, how it is you think and take decisions, but not who you are. MBTI has become similar to astrology, thanks to 16p, and the memes and stereotypes do not help. Real life is way more nuanced than 16p suggests, you have INFPs who are pretty disagreeable and enjoy discussing things, and ENTPs who are pretty agreeable and prefer not to argue... because the moment you are looking into behavior instead of why people act a certain way, you are not looking at cognition. MBTI is about cognition, you have to look for the reasons, why you act a certain way. Everyone can be an asshole or an angel, you have too look at the reason why. How does your brain process things, and why do you take the decisions you make. In the why, is where you can truly see cognition, and therefore get an accurate type.
The Big Five is the biggest clinical psych personality test. If they take more from The Big Five and try to pair it with the MBTI, wouldn’t that make it less astrology like?
@@jacobroach5731 hmm, I am not sure I get your logic. I think you mean that since Big Five is more Universally accepted in the scientific community, and astrology is not accepted in the scientific community, that means that 16personalities using the Big Five as a base makes it more scientific and therefore less like astrology? However, 16personalities is neither Big Five or MBTI. It is a new thing entirely, because it merges both systems, but it ends in weaker system as a result. It is less scientific as Big Five, because aside of the percentage, it gives you nothing else from an statistical perspective. It just says, you are 69% thinking, but what does that mean? what metric was used to reach that number? What are ways to improve and or areas of opportunity of that number? Non of that is given, things that you can actually take from the Big Five test. But it is worse than MBTI as well, because instead of giving you the cognitive functions, which is the main point of MBTI. It gives you archetypes with extremely simplified stereotypes of each personality type. It gives you a generalized perspective of how each type can be. But not much on why, or how does that information can be used. Making the system way less scientific than both MBTI and the Big Five. In fact, it has a very similar system to astrology, which is why I think it is so popular. Instead of the person having to piece together how an ENTP would work (my own type) via analyzing and understanding the functions. They give you generic information about the archetype. Not to mention, several of that information is grossly inaccurate. It ends up reducing people to stereotypes. And given how widespread stereotypes are in the MBTI community, you can clearly see why such a thing is problematic. But also, even if 16 personalities is more like astrology than MBTI because of how it relies in archetypes instead of cognition.... The main problem with astrology is not the archetypes, but how those archetypes are given. Your personality is supposedly determined from the date of your birth and not from taking a test. 16personalities is miles better than astrology, but to be honest, that is a very low bar. But that doesn't mean it is MBTI, 16personalities is another system that hijacked the name of MBTI.
I’m an ENFJ and struggled for a while with working out if I was S or N. Looking at the cognitive functions really helped. I think my extroverted sensing (tertiary function) is just well developed, so I’m quite good at grounding myself in reality and focusing on the details, which at first made me question if I was an intuitive type. But like Frank said, I think that might be an example of how you notice your weaknesses more when you are using them. I think I’m very comfortable in “intuitive land” and find it hard to snap out of, but once I’ve grounded myself i find it’s really nice to like, do something, rather than just think about doing it, for a change. For my introverted intuition (auxiliary function) i feel all the time like I know things but I can’t really pinpoint why, or my train of thought that has led to them. The only way I know how to explain that I’m intuitive is just that I am - which, I mean, sort of speaks for itself, doesn’t it? 😂 Also, I feel like some of the general qualities of a J type overlap with S qualities, which makes this more confusing. I mean, which part of the personality do I attribute my detailed planning/organisation skills to? Both, I guess? One or the other?
I get this. I'm ESF J/P. All the skits and descriptions of these fit me. I know all of these functions are a spectrum so it makes sense to me that people can be 50/50. J and P were also the functions I had the most trouble understanding when learning about Meyers Briggs, which fits with me being an even split.
I just rewatched Frank's video about the 4 temperments (EJ, EP, IJ, IP). Before that, I was starting to feel like maybe I do lean towards P a tiny bit... and then that video actually confirmed my dichotomy. I very much gravitate towards leading people(EJ) but also creating new ways to do things (EP). I can't use the "compare to people around you" method: because of my mom (ISTJ), everyone would be a P. She is the most organized, detailed, logical person, not to say she doesn't care about people cuz she does, but man is she a J!
infps and infjs have entirely different functions. i get the idea, but try to analyze your thought pattern: do you have more Fi or Fe, more Ni or Ne? Are you troubled with Te or with Se?
I'll be turn into insane if I can't be sure I'm INTJ or INFJ, sometimes tests says INTJ sometimes INFJ. Yesterday it showed 51% T and 49% F. I needed this video, so thanksss.
hey, i strongly urge you guys to learn about the cognitive functions, as the actual theory is based off of this, not by the 4 dichotomies (E-I, N-S, F-T, P-J). by doing a bit of research, you'll be able to type yourself much more accurately and you'll be able to learn a lot more about yourself than just knowing what the 4 letters mean. also, the 16personalities test is usually very off. i say this as an intp that has tested as an isfj, infj, intj, and infp on the site, even though each of those types use different functions in different orders. for example, an infj and infp may seem very similar, but they use the opposite functions (infj using ni-fe-ti-se, infp using fi-ne-si-te). just a heads up for anyone confused as to why they keep getting 51-49% for a specific letter; research the functions and you won't have too much trouble figuring out your type.
My issue is that I score equally between E-I , and relate to many aspects of both ENFP & INFP personality… when I looked into cog. functions I realized these types have the same functions in slightly different order, so now it’s down to trying to figure out if I lead with Ne or Fi… I’ve been leaning towards ENFP, but perhaps will never be 100% certain…. 🤷♀️
Yeah, I have to admit I have been quite disappointed in Frank lately, given how much he has been playing on dichotomies. When the system is far from being a dichotomy system, I cringe every time he says thinking vs feeling, when Te and Ti are extremely different, one can't pair them together in one group. He has been spreading a lot of misinformation, although I think his heart is in the good place because it seems he is doing it in order to make the system easier. But in the process he has bastardize what MBTI really is.
@@cloecourcelles oh I don’t worry about it - if anything it’s just fascinating to learn. Either way I’ve gained enough insight to use that knowledge for personal growth, which is what I set out to do in the first place 🤗 but I do agree with you that looking into cognitive functions is imperative to understanding, even if you are certain of your type
these are great tips for 16p mbti! personally for me getting into cognitive function mbti really helped me figure stuff out - i was also always like 50/50 or slightly leaning E N T but studying the functions really helped me understand that i'm just an ENFP with a healthy Fi/Te balance. i understand that it's not for everyone, and i think that it's awesome that FJ's making these videos for people who aren't interested in the cogfun of it all but if you're interested in studying a new realm of mbti, i recommend it :)
I recommend studying cognitive functions; For a long time I was mistyped as an INFP when in reality I am an ENTP and the reason is because no test is accurate and the descriptions are so superficial. I started researching cognitive functions and came to the conclusion that I am Ne dom with Ti aux; I really recommend it if you really want to know what your real type.
I was switching between ENTJ and ESTJ and the example you gave answered my question because I am a doctor and constantly worrying, double checking. I avoid doing a task because I think I will hurt someone because I do not know all the details I also never want to guess, and if I do, I use Google and power of statistics or probability to help me, never my own opinion. That's is why I am actually switching to become a biostatistician or follow a different career than the one I currently have.
INTP/J here. This is the video that for I waited so long. Sticking to the trip organizing example I like to overplan and spontaneusly deciding at the spot. I found that pretty useful becouse in either way I do things I like but according my mood at the moment.
At one point you sounded like you were giving a lecture with very hands-on examples to illustrate - nice job. 😊 Also: nice tie!!! (Not that my opinion matters, haha)
50/50 P and J. I learnt it harder way. In my mind I am more comfortable with INFP. INFJ is me when I am at work and thinking what life is and how people are and how others turn out to me. Ni and Ne almost the same. Ni a bit higher. Te Si are the lowest at the same level.
Thank you!!! Every test I've taken I scored within 1% difference on every category and I thought I had no personality. 😂 Turns out I'm just well rounded.
This was actually really, really helpful. I'm definitely one who has been 50/50 on most of these. I am really good at doing either for most situations. What this video helped me to see is that I have LEARNED to do both. Because how I naturally am is not considered acceptable by the people in my life. Like a left handed kid being forced to write with their right hand. What I finally realized today is that I truly am naturally INFP. But I learned that that is not acceptable. And it's vulnerable. So, I learned how to be the opposite of each. Like thinking vs feeling. I naturally want to do what feels right to me. Anything else grates me the wrong way. But that's not an okay reason to make a decision to the people around me. So I learned to come up with a bazillion different iron clad reasons why it logically makes sense to make the decision. I rarely even say how I feel about a decision when talking to others. But really I'm just justifying making the decision that feels right to me. And I'm hiding that under layers of logic so that people won't give me a hard time about it. Or even question it. I learned how to seem very extroverted even though most of the time I prefer an introverted life. Intuition vs sensing. I could barely force myself to do written homework as a kid. If you asked me the questions I'd know the answeres. But I hated writing it all down in detail. (Though obviously I'm doing that here) And I don't remember perceiving vs judging. Lol. But I turned out to be more naturally P who learned to act more J. So, this video really helped me a lot! Thank you FJ for that! I hope my blurb about it helps some other people out there, too.
I was confused whether I am an intj or infj. You talked about decision stuff, before making any decision I always do that facts check. Now it depends on how IMPORTANT that particular situation is, I act accordingly. For example, if I have to do something related to my social circle and that too not on a big scale, I just go with the flow. However, if it's anything other than that, I would rather go with my facts and ethics. Even though it might hurt someone else's feeling, or my peer group's emotions, I won't care because if my decision is helping me I don't care. So at times I care for others and then most of the other times I prioritize myself.
The difference between my f and t was very small as well as my e and I... One thing I liked about some MB tests is that they also give you other types you could also be and in which percentage
I really liked it. Exspecially the part you said N and S is the easiest. It was the most difficult for me to establish ;) It took me some time, now i totally see intuition as my weakness.
I just given the myers briggs test 1st time and got INFJ which is rarest personality with Introverted - 78%, Intuitive - 52%, Feeling - 84%, Judging - 74%, Turbulent - 51% I never thought I would ever get it... 🤣🤣🤣 Getting this weird feeling of pride... 😂😂
Well, frank said it himself in the previous videos that it's entj. But this is just a rough approximation. The census is 3 years old. If mbti becaomes more popular, we might have an accurate census
I test just about 50/50 for P/J (INFP or INFJ). I relate a lot to both personality type in your videos and there are aspects of my life when either will come out. I think maybe I'm more P when I'm alone and J in my interaction with others and the world around me.
I've read that the ENTP is the most (or 2nd most) introverted Extrovert due to their NE being top of the stack. The INTP and ENTP use all the same functions, stacked somewhat differently. How does one tell which they are, especially since most people are ambiverts? How would you order the types, from least to most, introverted to extroverted, based on the stacks?
This is why I think it would be far more appropriate and efficient to ask everyone 100 randomised questions out of a total of 1000 questions. Put these questions on rotation so nobody will ever get the same test twice. I keep getting INTJ, but I genuinely relate more to INFP. I've been wronged for a lot of my life so I might be a little "emotionally bitter", but I really feel strongly about most things and I know I base most of my decisions on feeling, not thinking. Like most INFPs, I _can_ apply logic when it's necessary, but I'd rather "live in dreamland" most of the time. My imagination and passion are traits I'm proud of. Not saying INTJs don't often have fantastic imaginations, but usually they use their imaginations for design/practicality, instead of just "for the fun of it" like I do. The real issue arises when I consider Judging vs Perceiving. I am the worst procrastinator (admittedly, I'm procrastinating RIGHT NOW) BUT I also love making lists and organising things. I almost always have a messy bedroom, but at the same time I enjoy tidying it up. I DON'T KNOW WHICH APPLIES TO _ME_ BETTER. *BUT* I don't know if frantic list-making and organising is a symptom of anxiety/autism?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! Edit to add: I do actually feel more comfortable when things are organised and in a set routine. I like to be free with my time outside of that, and I love art and musical theatre in the same way a lot of INFJs do. I think maybe the procrastination and messiness are probably the signs of poor executive-functioning as caused by autism. I guess... my question has been answered. The closure is very comforting. Finality - _bliss._
I've taken the 16 personalities test regularly during a two years period of time, and by time, I've come more and more towards the middle when it comes to the first three letters. The biggest differences are definitely going from 77% intuitive and 81% feeling, to 51% intuitive and 52% feeling 😂. Maybe it's because I've developed more as a person, and feeling more comfortable using different styles of perception and decision-making. But despite that, I know what I naturally prefer and leans towards to
I honestly think it's because intuition and feeling are largely considered less acceptable in our society. So, I think you've learned how to use the opposites in situations where they would be considered more acceptable. I just today finally realized that I am actually INFP. I have spent my life around people who value the opposite. So I learned how to function as the opposite to a large degree. I have always scored 50/50 on all but introvert vs extrovert. Now I finally realize that I have almost equal skills on either direction for all but I vs E. But I see now that I naturally prefer being INFP. I suspect that you might have kind of done the same.
@@emmaboberg6818 On the plus side, now we have skills that we otherwise might not have had. All in all, I'm glad to have been born different than what's considered acceptable. Because now I'm able to do both. 😊
Well here's another video that really hit the spot. I am an ENFP who would like to have her things in order, especially my room, but I tend to tend to disorder and my place is almost always a disaster; although when I finally manage to put some order, I feel so good, very happy and proud, but unfortunately that does not last long and a few days later everything is a disaster again and I feel horrible about it again. 🙄
Of course we are not only our personality type. A human being Is a mix of personalities according to the theory of integration. Life, experiences can change our preferences. These days my feelings are on top even if I am an INTP sometimes I truly feel that my opposite type entj takes control of me when I am triggered. I don't know...

Interesting. Intuitive and sensing is what most people struggle with the least? For me that’s the one letter pairing that always comes up as 50/50, all others lean one way quite significantly.
Doesn't the J/P just mean whether the person's most dominant extraverted (so 1st for Exxx and 2nd for Ixxx) function is a Judging (T/F) or Percieving (N/S) function? For instance: INTP is TiNe INTJ is NiTe ENTJ is TeNi It should have little to do with being organized or spontaneous IMO.
maybe it has to do with the fact the xxxPs will have either Ne or Se as one of their top two, which are more... scattered manners of gathering, while xxxJs have Ni or Si which are narrow down and catalogue functions? it's not what it's supposed to mean, but ends up kind of working
For what I understand, it's not the theory, but it generally works in practice, and people tend to prefer the dichotomies rather than the cognitive functions, because they are easier to understand
cant wait for this to start! I’m an INFJ and I’m pretty confident in that, but I’m only 57 percent introverted and even though I think I’m more introverted most people think I’m an extrovert. For the N/S, I’m strongly intuitive yet I feel like I’m also one of the much more sensible personality types. I know I’m an INFJ as the description nails me perfectly, but it’s still confusing sometimes..
Same, but with me being INFP, I actually got all the XNXP types and sometimes every of them describes me, but I'm definetly an INFP beacuse the description is just like me!
The first time I took the test, the result was INTJ, and then I did it again, INTP. Everytime I do one it’s more INTP than INTJ. The thing is I hung on the INTP type, but even in my everyday life, there is a bunch of INTJ stuff that I see like being overly mysterious, or stiffness and coldness lol. I just realised that I am both and there’s nothing wrong with that. So I’m now enjoying and learning from both of them. I came at the conclusion that I’m 65% INTP and 35% INTJ. :’)
Fycycy you can't be both intj and intp lmao. Intj has Ni>Te>Fi>Se, especially Ni as a dom function and intp has Ti>Ne>Si>Fe with Ti as dom function. If you studied a thing or two about cognitive functions you would see the differences between intj and intp immediately. Ni and Ti are also really different although if you first read about them they seem to be identical. Sakrinova is a good function test but make sure you understand all the questions
I'm 49/50 T/F and honestly it feels like it represents the two sides of my worldview...the skeptic and the romantic Edit: omygosh lol you guys are right sorry 😂 I meant 51 haha
I like the right/left hand analogy. Simple clarity. Admittedly, I wasn't listening closely to the video during the premiere. I missed where you were talking about gaining self confidence and social skills. This is a very important distinction, imo. The comments on your videos alone show that many people don't seem to realize this. I see all the time that "intoverts would never go to a party" or "an introvert could never have a YT channel“. Yes, they can. An introvert can be President of the US or the Chancellor of Germany. They can be anything and do anything. .....except go without time alone to recharge.
@@greatwavefan397 I saw him comment in objective personality If you didn’t know objective personality attempts to divide the 16 into 512 types and that is advanced, frank James even sent his own video to the people behind objective personality and they typed him Why he doesn’t go deeper with his channel and talks about useless letter that don’t mean anything is beyond my comprehension
He has some older videos that talk about the cognitive functions. I think he probably doesn’t go into them so much now since it’s harder to get your head around for newcomers and he’s probably trying to keep his content simplified. That being said I still like his videos a lot :)
Every test I've taken, no matter if they type by letter or cognitive functions: "You're INTP." Me: "But what if I'm an ISFJ with developed Ne? Or an introverted ESFJ with developed Ti?"
@@LenaFerrari bc all the tests are bad for different reasons, i recommend doing a bunch of different cognitive function tests and then using those to eliminate the impossible options (ie if you keep getting Ti as your weakest function, chances are you’re not an IxTP) but then self type from there. sakinorva, keys2cognition, jigloo & mistypeinvestigator are all decent but they all have their own individual problems. use those and then i recommend just researching the top few functions

FINALLY SOME ANSWERS!!! IM 50/50 ON EVERYTHING EXCEPT INTROVERSION WHICH IS AT 70% (and I’d probably be an ambivert if people actually understood what I was saying.) Im so soft spoken that half the time people either misinterpret what I say or don’t even hear me which is why I don’t talk much. And it seems that half the people I know are extroverts with loud voices… good luck even getting a word in when you’re soft spoken…
This was super helpful. I'm an INTP borderline INFP, and I always question whether or not I'm more on the F side because I have made emotionally charged decisions. How you put it makes sense though, F will dwell over decisions made "too" logically and T will dwell over decisions made "too" emotionally
FJ: If you are a thinker you get upset when you make a decision based on how you feel and if you’re a feeler you get upset when you make a decision without considering feelings. Me: I’m 50/50... I really wouldn’t mind either way. It’s whatever everyone else wants. *Fe shines through* Me: Oh...
This is awesome! Thanks Frank ❤️ I am one of the "on the the cusp" people who sits on the border of infp and infj. Depending on my mood/depression/anxiety at the time I take it the test my F/J may turn out 49/51 or 51/49. I originally tested as infj then infp and over the years (I'm in my 40s now) I'm usually infp more often and I identify more with infp but that J man, sometimes it calls to me lol.
I appreciated the confident introvert part. A lot of shyness rubbed off me after high school. And I think I know how to interact with strangers better. Still get drained when I hang out with people though.
OMG Frank, thank you! I tend to get INFP on the quizzes but it's usually 51/49 Introversion, 60/40 Feeler and 60/40 Perceiving. I've noticed situations where I do think more than feel and I definitely question my introversion ... maybe ENFP?! But yeah, when the chips are down I daydream and upset myself with the daydream lol
I’m still wondering if I’m an INTJ or INFJ. I associate with both things you stated, is it possible to actually be 50/50? I’m a really passionate individual in relation to things I have emotional opinions on, but when it comes to a different situation, I have no problem choosing the logical choice with absolutely no problem emotionally. The one thing I’ve noticed is that I am really passionate about things though. Then again, when it comes to actual decisions, I almost always end up choosing the logical choice. Example: my teacher offered a choice to join a cool club, which I would go to, but I chose to not because it would be too much in general to manage, which is the logical choice in my mind. Another situation is when I had to write something about my emotional opinions on social things like injustice and more abstract things. I always answered with how I felt about it, paying no attention to anything logical and my teacher actually commented on the writing and said it was very passionate. In relation to the two personality types specifically, I associate with both really well, but certain little things are off and aren’t like me at all, yet with the other personality type, it defines me flawlessly. Most things that are wrong are around the areas on T/F, so honestly I have no idea anymore.
I think infj from both your examples. Because the first example: it seems like you felt it would be too much: (subjective thing). Your second example is also subjective instead of taking an objective stance.
Here are my thoughts on it: I think you are an INTJ (given you have strong Ni) as it ultimately comes down to cognitive functions. The cognitive functions for INTJ are Ni>Te>Fi>Se while for INFJ they are Ni>Fe>Ti>Se. The examples you gave showed clear signs of both Fi and Te. For instance, in your first example, you talked about you feel about the club which is a sign of Fi but ultimately your Te takes over in your thought process and decides it is too much of a hassle and not the most efficient choice. (a sign that your Te could be larger than your Fi) Your second example also shows that you have a strong Fi, as your arguments are fully focused on what you feel. Therefore, if you are certain Ni is your strongest function, you are more likely to be an INTJ. Just a quick note: XXTX does not mean that the person is fully objective, it just means that Te or Ti is the person's primary or auxiliary functions.
I was coming up that way for a while, too. The more I've looked into I'm def more thinking than feeling. I can, and do, consider people and their needs/wants/feelings when making decisions but I won't make an illogical choice based on feeling. Other's, but especially (expecially😂) not mine. Always have trusted my head over my heart (heart's dumb AF lol). Over time I've grown and learned how to work with/around my "left handed" preferences.
I lean towards you being an INTJ. All the emotional things you mention sound like Fi, you are a passionate individual, you have emotional opinions, these are both you focused. When you talk about using logic, its situational (Te), you even mention 'different situation' as opposed to 'things you have emotional opinions on'. Thinking about how you would manage something externally for you is logical, even though the club is cool (Fi internal emotional judgement). This also squares with you choosing the logical choice in most 'actual decisions'. If you were an INFJ, you would more likely internally analyze things and have more logic based opinions (Ti) but default to your emotional intuition in external situations, especially involving groups (Fe).
This is very insightful... especially about feeling proud afterwards the way you did something... So I'm actually INTJ? i feel proud when I go out, look at the details of things and can do something spontanious. We don't make decisions because what I feel over here...
Something that confuses me: if ISTJs and ENFPs have the same "functions in their stack", shouldn't they be more or less similar and not polar opposites? Yes, I know they have different preferences, but I'm asking this because I keep seeing videos where people are being typed with two different types and then commenters will say "it makes sense that people think he's XXXX since they basically have the same functions." Shouldn't we be more different to those with functions outside our stack than those with the same stack as ours? E.g. shouldn't ENFPs be more OPPOSITE with ISTPs since they have NO similar functions in their stack, as opposed to ISTJs? Hope someone clears this up for me.
They don't have the same function "stack". It is not enough to have the same four functions in a stack. The order in which they appear is equally important. ISTJ is Si, Te, Fi, Ne. ENFP is Ne, Fi, Te, Si ISTJ has dominant Si while ENFP has inferior Si. So the personalities are sort of opposite to each other.
@@sapphireshore Thanks, I did see it :) I still wonder about it since, for example, ISTJ could theoretically be more comfortable using Fi than Te because it's an introverted function. Extraverted functions have a tendency to drain introverts, even if one is higher on the stack and used more often than an introverted. Like... as an INFP, I'm not going to be head over heels for using Ne when my "social battery" is low and I'm drained. I'll feel more relaxed using Si. Again, this is theoretical. I'm NOT saying ISTJs and ENFPs are more similar than ISTJs and, say, ISFJs. The order in which they appear IS what distinguishes them. But it's still worth noting that opposite types aren't always as estranged from each other as it might be made out to look.
@@marishaten7399 Shouldn't we be more different to those with functions outside our stack than those with the same stack as ours? E.g. shouldn't ENFPs be more OPPOSITE with ISTPs since they have NO similar functions in their stack, as opposed to ISTJs? Hope someone clears this up for me.
@@yeppieyay8906 Yes, types that have no functions common to each other are different. But types that share functions can also be totally different to each other. To take your example of ISTJ and ENFP, the dominant function of ISTJ is Si (the ability to remember and process incredible amounts of data). For ENFP, it is the fourth function. This means that the ENFP's WEAK POINT is remembering and processing data. It is something most ENFPs are supposed to struggle with, while for ISTJ it is a strong suit. Similarly, ENTJ (dominant Te, inferior Fi) believes in external measures of success (turnover, grades, awards etc). INFP (dominant Fi, inferior Te) believes the exact opposite. They rely on their own 'subjective' criteria for success and detest objective standards. Can you call these personalities similar to each other? The only time two personalities share some similarity is when they share a common 'axis' (first and fourth functions are the same). For instance, both INTJ and INFJ share the Ni-Se axis so there are SOME similarities. I hope this somewhat clarifies things for you.
@@marishaten7399 You mentioned that Si is the ENFP's weak point as it is the fourth function in their stack. But what about the other functions down the line, say, the 8th function which is Se? Following this logic that the lower it is down the stack, the weaker it is, can we say that Se (the last of the 8 functions of the ENFP) is the ENFP's WEAKEST point? Also, over time, a certain type can develop their tertiary and inferior functions, right? An ISTJ can develop their Fi and Ne, and and an ENFP can develop their Te and Si. If this is the case, would a fully developed ENFP and a fully developed ISTJ be more alike or similar since they'd basically be using the same functions on an almost equal level?
I'm an INFP and I do plans for a lot of things. But all these plans get crashed by unexpected events, that's why I decided to go with it and I ended up becoming a perceiver😐 That's why everytime I see your videos, I always relate to both INFP and INFJ

But I think because I'm taking feeling into account at all... That makes me a feeler? Or is that just cause of a bias thinking thinkers only consider thinking. And I think people's feelings are more important? But I don't think you can't make a decision without finding out the most logical option AND the most beneficial to the person based on their feelings... Uh. Maybe I don't need to decide maybe I'm just an INFTJ/INFTJ
Using your logic in context of a situation with people and their feelings to come to a decision is being rational. There can be a good balance, or you may just be mature in whatever your cognitive stack is.
@@TrueSunara nah I get you. And yeah I think my thinking is pretty rational, and for a long time I thought that's what most people do... But the last few years I've realised people do tend to fall to one side. I mean there are others who also look at both like me, but then there are others you can just tell look at things more logically or more compassionately.
When I make a decision I think about what is logical, what everybody thinks and feels, and what I feel, and I decide based on what is logical and better for everyone (even if I'm against it when I think to myself). It isn't worth doing what is logical if no one wanna do it, and it's even worst if we do something based just on ppls personal feelings. ENTP are thinkers but they do a lot of what I described, they know what other ppl are feeling but it doesn't make them feelers. But take this with a grain of salt.

If you have more questions about the 16 Myers-Briggs Personalities, let me know in the comments!

16personalities is based on Big Five model and only takes dichotomies from MBTI, which creates all the confusion.
And if you score 50% on a trait in Big Five, it just means that trait of yours is pretty balanced.

I think being completely objectively is very difficult. I used to get INTJ a lot in mbti test because that type was what I perceived myself to be.
Many think anyone's first impression will be their highest extroverted function when it's usually the third.

But when I studied the cognitive functions and did a cognitive functions test, I was typed as an INFJ.
yes. whenever I do any MBTI test it gives me ISTJ/INTJ (50/50 N and S) but reading about the functions made me realize that I am IXTP (probably INTP since my Se is too low to be inferior, so maybe it's a trickster) more than IXTJ, because I use Ti much more than Si or Ni (and also realizing my inferior function helped a lot when I started to look a it)
i always got infp, isfp or intp on the tests
i looked at the cognitive functions and now i'm pretty sure i'm an intp
same thing happened to me!! after years of getting infp, enfj, and infj dping different tests, reading the functions showed me that im most likely infj.
Then again, even with the functions it can be confusing😩 because like FJ said, we often are not that aware of the things we do naturally!
Yes. I can come across as extremely organised (sometimes) but this is only because I have suffered the consequences of being disorganised
@@freregregoire2685 I am also on the cusp on everything except intuition/sensing. My sensing is so low I might as well live in a time machine.
The right/left handedness, at the beginning, was a really good way of explaining it.
Well said!
I think going by cognitive functions is still better though, INTPs and INFPs are very far in terms of function stack.

Always awesome to watch your videos FJ! ☺️
As a HSP with social anxiety, I always tested INFP (with around 45/55 split for E and I) and I am confident of the XNFP.
Agree
I'm super duper ENTP when I'm being truly myself but when I'm down or too stressed I'm much more like an INFP
Also, I feel like some of the general qualities of a J type overlap with S qualities, which makes this more confusing. I mean, which part of the personality do I attribute my detailed planning/organisation skills to? Both, I guess? One or the other?
In one scenario I'm an INFP and the next I'm an INFJ... it's like battling with two versions of myself...😆
Same, at this point I have no clue 😩

@@ktwhimsy6946 it takes time so don't worry too much about it, i'm sure it'll all make sense soon.
@@cloecourcelles oh I don’t worry about it - if anything it’s just fascinating to learn. these are great tips for 16p mbti! personally for me getting into cognitive function mbti really helped me figure stuff out - i was also always like 50/50 or slightly leaning E N T but studying the functions really helped me understand that i'm just an ENFP with a healthy Fi/Te balance. i understand that it's not for everyone, and i think that it's awesome that FJ's making these videos for people who aren't interested in the cogfun of it all but if you're interested in studying a new realm of mbti, i recommend it :)
I avoid doing a task because I think I will hurt someone because I do not know all the details
I also never want to guess, and if I do, I use Google and power of statistics or probability to help me, never my own opinion.
That's is why I am actually switching to become a biostatistician or follow a different career than the one I currently have.
I wondered about it for a long time! Thank for making this video!

I feel that this is a major piece of the personality puzzle for me!
I like that I’m not alone on the comments section, knowing I’m not the only introverted person.
obviously
Good explanation. Thank you Frank.
I’ve legit been asking this question since I did the test, I barely scraped INFJ, I was almost 50/50 on NF and J. WHO EVEN AM I!? 🤣 xx
50/50 P and J. I learnt it harder way. In my mind I am more comfortable with INFP. INFJ is me when I am at work and thinking what life is and how people are and how others turn out to me. Ni and Ne almost the same. Ni a bit higher. Te Si are the lowest at the same level.
Dr Frank is helping us diagnose what our personality type is
Thank you!!!
(Though obviously I'm doing that here)
And I don't remember perceiving vs judging. Lol. But I turned out to be more naturally P who learned to act more J.
So, this video really helped me a lot! Thank you FJ for that!
I hope my blurb about it helps some other people out there, too.
*SCIENCE!*
I keep getting 50% Sensing/Intuitive but I know my type, I think some questions are just very stereotypical
The left hand and right hand comparison is good one. Let’s go FJ !! ❤️
The difference between my f and t was very small as well as my e and I... One thing I liked about some MB tests is that they also give you other types you could also be and in which percentage

*BUT*
I don't know if frantic list-making and organising is a symptom of anxiety/autism?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!
@@anyascelticcreations That's an interesting point, I totally agree

For instance:
INTP is TiNe
INTJ is NiTe
ENTJ is TeNi
It should have little to do with being organized or spontaneous IMO.
maybe it has to do with the fact the xxxPs will have either Ne or Se as one of their top two, which are more... scattered manners of gathering, while xxxJs have Ni or Si which are narrow down and catalogue functions?
it's not what it's supposed to mean, but ends up kind of working
Yup, you're right, it has like nothing to do with spontaneity or rigidity in theory
For what I understand, it's not the theory, but it generally works in practice, and people tend to prefer the dichotomies rather than the cognitive functions, because they are easier to understand

Lol, I am INFJ...but was nearly 50-50 in N and S, and J and P😂
Edit: Now, after watching this video, I think I am really an INFJ😂🤣
I am here for the cool intro
Thanks for clarifying. Clearly, I am an INFJ and not an INTJ or INFP, both of which I frequently get confused about. This makes a lot of sense
A moment of silence for the ignored cognitive functions
yes LOL it's funny to watch but ppl can't type themselves this way, it's like a misinformation
I'm INFP but really close to INTP, luckily as I got older I "unlocked" more ways to interact with the world in a healthy positive way
FJ: If you are a thinker you get upset when you make a decision based on how you feel and if you’re a feeler you get upset when you make a decision without considering feelings.
Me: I’m 50/50... I really wouldn’t mind either way. It’s whatever everyone else wants.
*Fe shines through*
Me: Oh...
This is awesome! Thanks Frank ❤️
I am one of the "on the the cusp" people who sits on the border of infp and infj.
You seem to have somewhat of an understanding of the Jungian cognitive functions, why don’t you use those in your explanations of things like this?
Marketing. You are not getting successful by telling how things are but what ppl want to hea... sadly
@@valdemar83 True lol. That's what Frank is doing
I have looked into many MBTI types and have come to have the hypothesis that I’m 50% INTP/ 50% INFP and the test confirmed that.
Give Sakinorva coagnitive function test
I think infj from both your examples. Because the first example: it seems like you felt it would be too much: (subjective thing). Your second example is also subjective instead of taking an objective stance.
Here are my thoughts on it:
I think you are an INTJ (given you have strong Ni) as it ultimately comes down to cognitive functions.
(a sign that your Te could be larger than your Fi)
Your second example also shows that you have a strong Fi, as your arguments are fully focused on what you feel.
Yes, I know they have different preferences, but I'm asking this because I keep seeing videos where people are being typed with two different types and then commenters will say "it makes sense that people think he's XXXX since they basically have the same functions."
Shouldn't we be more different to those with functions outside our stack than those with the same stack as ours?
E.g. shouldn't ENFPs be more OPPOSITE with ISTPs since they have NO similar functions in their stack, as opposed to ISTJs? Hope someone clears this up for me.
They don't have the same function "stack". It is not enough to have the same four functions in a stack. The order in which they appear is equally important.
ISTJ is Si, Te, Fi, Ne.
ENFP is Ne, Fi, Te, Si
ISTJ has dominant Si while ENFP has inferior Si. So the personalities are sort of opposite to each other.
@@sapphireshore Thanks, I did see it :)
I still wonder about it since, for example, ISTJ could theoretically be more comfortable using Fi than Te because it's an introverted function.
But all these plans get crashed by unexpected events, that's why I decided to go with it and I ended up becoming a perceiver😐
That's why everytime I see your videos, I always relate to both INFP and INFJ
Intuition vs sensing is kinda hard for me they basically sound like the same thing to me
For sensing think your 5 senses, what’s right in front of you, literal>abstract, details>big picture
For intuition think what if’s?, why’s? abstract>literal, big picture>details
@@ohmyohasparagus441 well I daydream a lot especially during class and it’s about random topics usually so maybe intuitive since I don’t pay much attention to my surrounding usually and people say I daydream a lot
Me a high P: "Wow! Look at me! I just turned that in on time, with 15 seconds to spare! YES!"
I acually got 0% thinking and 100% feeling - INFP
Last time I tested I was 50/50 INTJ/ INFJ. I think by nature I am an INTJ, but management roles have forced me into using more feeling.
Uh but I take feeling and thinking into account when making every decision eeeeekkk. Like I go here is what the feelings say and here is what the logic says. Put the two together. Make a decision.
I'm not doing too well with putting my thoughts into the concrete today so if my sentence is all goopety gopp, I do apologize.
@@sophiagiz hmm one of my close friends is an ENTP and she's adamant I'm an INFJ (which is what the test said)... But I was so close to being an INTJ, and when I took the test a few years ago I was an INTJ... So I think I've just become more compassionate as a person?
But also I think picking a MBTI type and saying you have to fit within the constraints of that type is counter intuitive and humans are more complex than 16 different types.
HEY!! Crazy chance you could do a video on social skills and how to handle situations we introverts are not sure about and not sure how to handle? What are some simple easy ways to help ourselves in these situations so we don't get labeled as having zero manners, zero social skills, and zero people skills. We're not looking to become extroverts, we just need to be able to handle situations in such a way that people don't always think we're absolute shits, complete jerks, and the list goes on... I know you know what I mean. HELP!!
