Bro , just passed my CDL test today , I just did what you showed us in this video , thank you so much for helping me pass it .
I wanted to say thank you for this video! I passed my CDL exam (third time's a charm!) a few weeks ago, and I talked through my driving portion like you did in the video. The examiner commented at the end how she thought my narration demonstrated my knowledge really well. Thanks from central Maryland!
I asked about talking describing what I am doing, and all my instructors said no. Stay quiet🤷🏻♂️
Thank you sir for these great tips. When I told my examiner that I was going to inch forward to get a better view. He told me that’s exactly what you’re supposed to say and do at this spot otherwise you won’t see upcoming traffic. He gave me the feeling I was going to pass and I did. Also calling out the signs and telling them when you’re preparing to stop is also great. It tells them you’re focus on the road.
Did this and passed . Just talked the whole time out loud and it kept me calm and safe I was pointing out all hazards and my lane switches etc thanks buddy

@@FaroutTruckin I forgot what it’s called but I know you have to take like a writing test or bubbles sheet test before you actually train in the trucks. Like, is that test hard?

I have my test this Thursday, I'm confident enough that I know I will pass. I got my whole pretrip perfected, in cab perfected, backing as well. Also I'm good on the road, I'm excited to get my CDL.

Awesome video man. Just what I need for my road re-test tomorrow. Got nervous and grinded gears to a complete stop. Didn't go to a driving school, and was told if I couldn't find gears off the start to stop, and restart threw the gears. Auto fail. Hope to do much better tomorrow! literally me dude, paid 3k for a shitty school that only lets you get like 4 manuevers and 1 trip around the block for road time....its super ass. luckily i learn pretty quickly and i really want this as my career. i test on the first of next month

Just when you said that there were no obstructions on the road you passed by one of those plastic cones by the side of the road. I actually failed the test because the examiner said I went to close to it. I thought to my self that there is no harm in the plastic cones since they are just plastic but any thing on the road is an obstruction and you have to lower the speed and maybe even use the turn signal to cross on to the other lane!
I need to do this, I did'nt do Vocal much and sometimes the examiner thinks I don't do things, I need be more vocal next time

Great video. In additonal when you record another video. Can you announce what gear you’re in after coming to a complete stop when you reset?
Also i wanted to ask you shouldn’t shifting in the intersection even if your the first at the signal light? Will you be graded for impeding traffic?
You’ll be tested with an empty trailer/tank/etc. A bit of advice (what i did during my road test,) was announce to the instructor that you shouldn’t shift through an intersection, railroad, etc.
BUT, start out in 3rd or 4th gear and you should have enough speed to comfortably make it though the intersection and because you aren’t loaded you won’t bog the engine.. I would recommend attempting to start in both while at an intersection and see if the truck can start out in 4th and it’s not going to bog the truck down. If you don’t have the opportunity to practice in the truck you’ll test in i would say go with 3rd it’s a safe gear. If you start out on a hill use 2nd all the way until you clear the intersection.

Do you have to mention everything like you do when you take the test or are you just doing that for the video?
When I took my road test early 2020, I did just that.

So my instructor told me for the dmv test getting off the freeway you have to be in 5th gear and 20mph on an Eaton Fuller 13 speed … It’s really hard for me to get it into gear, so much so I stalled it on the off-ramp and failed. Would it be okay to shift it into 3rd since I’m at such low rate of speed ? Please respond brother 🙏

My test is tomorrow but I was told not to speak to the examiner and just be in awkward silence🤷🏻♂️ I don’t want the examiner to perceive my kindness for weakness.

HI 👋 . Can you do a video of what unsafe coasting is compared to engine braking.
What it is you want to know about engine brake?
Basically, you do not want to coast downhill, coming to a stop or coast in general as it interrupts the consistency of your shifting. ie if going downhill, you missed your gear and coasting in neutral, you will not have engine brake to hold the truck from speeding downhill and as such your service brake pads and drums would heat up from excessive use.

Hello if you fail cdl road test. Do you have to do whole test over?
you did note that you aren't supposed to shift in the intersection, yet i noticed the whole drive you were shifting in the intersections. Is that because you're driving a 10 speed or 13 speed? My truck that I will take a road test in is a 6 speed trainer truck.
In the real truck driving world, we shift in intersections if necessary. You cannot for the test, however. The real world vs school is completely different.
He did say no shifting in the intersection a couple times throughout video.

Okay, so at 5:35 you crossed the solid white lane divider. That would be a fail, correct?
When taking your road test, wait until line breaks then change lane.
May not be an automatic fail but points off.

Do we have to say everything like you are in the video during the test? Like announce we will be stopping at the stop sign, before the white line, and proceeding when traffic is clear, etc? And everything like you did in the video? Teacher didnt mention any of this yet and we have been out twice driving! Didnt even mention we have to be calling out hazards, signs, nothing! Exactly why Im doing my own research and taking it upon myself to make sure he is even teaching us right.

That’s the pretrip. Properly mounted, not cracked, broken (bent) (leaking)is under the tractor hood, mirrors, 1st axle and 5th wheel components, along with the lights.

You also didn’t mention that you must stay in gear while at the red light. That’s why I asked if your truck is automatic because he was also shifting while going through the intersection which I was thought is a automatic fail.
I’m taking my Class A road test tomorrow and I’m nervous because I can float the gears very well but I haven’t been taught double clutching. If you float instead of double clutching is that an automatic fail? Florida**

When you turn from left you have to stay on your left lane.
Exactly! At 19:25 when you made a left turn, you should of stayed in the left lane then signaled to go to the right lane and not just stay in the right lane.
