Massive bombshells all around! It's surreal seeing some very niche Elysium lore coming to public light... on one hand it's been fun to be privy to some rather exclusive info, but on the other hand this being out there in the public now will hopefully liven up discussion in the community and bring some much-needed attention to the wider Elysium universe! I think it will be important, in the battle for Elysium's soul, for the community to be passionate about this world outside of just Disco Elysium, to loudly affirm our wish that these storytellers get to tell their story. No more doomposting about the ZA/UM fiasco being "the fitting ending" or how "Disco Elysium doesn't even need a follow-up". Fuck that! I want Elysium! I want these people to get their life's work back! I want to inhabit the world they've shared with us, and I want *them* to inhabit it with me! More people learning about the tabletop campaigns, more people reading Sacred and Terrible Air and Full Core State Nihilist, more people learning about the plans for THE RETURN. Thank you again for the great interview!
I want to say Thank You both to you, Argo, those involved in DE's development, the fanbase, and community. As an avid fan, this interview was such a delight and joy to watch. I learned so much and it made me appreciate the IMMENSE collaborative work that comes to writing masterpieces like Disco. Huge gratitude for this channel and giving us fans so much content to enjoy. Looking forward to the next interview :)
It felt so surreal hearing the ins and outs of Disco Elysium throughout these 9 hours. You can just feel the love and soul put into the world of Elysium. I've always disliked the "We are never getting Disco 2", "fitting end to DE" etc side of things because as Argo said, Disco was only the prologue, I felt that we were meant to see more of this world. Even just the tiny morsels of the sequel alluded to this astronomically beautiful and grand world beyond the wee district of Martinaise. Disco Elysium gave me hope, and I still believe that something beautiful is going to happen. Elysium will return to the rightful people who created it.
Love to hear that he's a fan of MSP. I had noticed the game has a refrence to one of their songs when Drama says that you say, "500 Leers and I can't even remember the first line".
Really good stuff. Thanks for making this happen. I'd like to suggest you ask one of the writers about the significance of the "FULL CORE STATE NIHILIST" story in terms of understanding the setting of Elysium. Specifically, Esteban's declaration that "none of this is real" seems to take on a greater relevance to the reader in light of the revelations about the Pale and the FELD machines. Has this perspective been there from the start, even in the tabletop days?
Massive love for Argo doing this. Love the chosen tone and focus on Disco the game. That's not to say the ongoing politics should fall by the wayside, but it's wonderful to simply roll around in the love and lore again
Ok nice, very nice Ifeel like the mysterious pair of eyes is the third mercenary who is absolutely out of his mind. Lord knows what he's up to undercover inside the harbor
Thanks for doing this interview. It was very interesting. By the way, as a Spaniard I wanted to say that "puta madre" can have several different meanings. One is the literal one you pointed out, but, in this case, I think that "puta" is just being emphatic, something like "the fucking mother". It is also funny that, in some contexts, you can just say "la puta madre" or "la puta madre que me parió" (the whore mother who birthed me) as a way to express surprise or say "oh, shit", but I doubt that was taken into account when naming the character.
No way the FELD playback machine theory was actually real. God damn. I'm a "pale is the byproduct of novelty by magpies; the past choking the unborn future before it ever arrives, and the moralintern uses magpies for their "contingencies"" schizo theorist and even I just thought it was a cute little reference and nothing more.
I wish the topic of magpies had been brought up in this interview actually - it is not a concept that seems to be present in the original worldbuilding, nor Sacred and Terrible Air, nor Full-Core State Nihilist, nor Disco Elysium itself. Purely an artifact of that commissioned concept art.
The length of this interview is almost enough to make up for Disco 2 never coming out.
Great job comrade.

Losing my mind over the FELD playback theory confirmation
Same! Especially as it’s one that would be assigned to the bottom section of the deep lore iceberg!

Klaasje’s nickname is also an MSP nod. I really loved the many and various music nods in the game tbh, it’s very My Thing :)
Really good stuff. Thanks for making this happen.

The sacred air in this interview were all the beautiful things that had to be left unsaid

Thank you! And don’t worry, we’ll do the other stuff too :)
@The41stPrecinct Great to hear, looking forward to it! I'm relying on you for my retrospective/ongoing Elysium news!
Ok nice, very nice

Thanks for this theory i now fully believe
Amazing interview from start to finish!
Argo was a great guest, so engaging.
So glad this channel has been so successful a project. :)
i could honestly listen to argo talk for ages. well spoken mf
"Pu74 madre" can also be used (depending on the context and country, of course) as a way to say, roughly, "fuck's sake".

By the way, the thing about Estonian racists reminded me of those couple of legendary tweets between Estonians and Indonesians cursing each other. 😅

@@baaaldur A missed opportunity for sure but I can't complain, this interview was great either way
Hell yes
