Besides the obvious skill of passing, dribbling and shooting, when you watch entire games you can see how he controls the pace of teams, how he chooses which side to overload to attack from and how he is in charge of keeping possession. Pirlo was unique in many ways. He was the only deep play maker that would design the game from his own box and thanks to accurate long passing, he was able to lead an attack from right on his own box edge. His balance was as good as a ballerina and only comparable to Maradona and Zidane.
