@DaCocoNutMan Its a Roland Drum Trigger. He's using it to set the tempo / click track via their in ear monitors (so they don't go out of time when he's not playing) Normally you can't hear it, so it's probably something to do with the mix from this show (not wearing their in ears maybe?) But either way, I think he only uses it for songs on the last two albums. Hope that helps. Sam fucking rules.
When there's auto tune, there is a certain tweak on harmony changes, and it definitely feels unnatural. This one doesn't feel that way, most noticeably in the parts where he sings "Wooo... right on". Auto-tune would have shattered that phrase, I think.
