James!!!!!!!! You’re super duper incredible,,,,, I love these isolated tracks!!!!!! Shows the amazing timing you have!!!!!!!!! Nice double bass!!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed it!!!!!!!! You’re so amazing 🤩,,,,, I love supporting your channel,,,,, the talent is here!!!!!! Great job 👏
Thank you very much, Bryan! Always love seeing your comments! You're too kind brother! Have a killer weekend! Happy late Halloween! Halloween video on Sunday! 🤘🥁
Greatbfoot precision my friend!!!! And if i m not mistaken.... is that a zildjian 18" k ? If so...... should i get it ? (Got a round crack in my a custom so i need a replacement)
Thank you very much dude! That's a bummer! Hate it when cymbals crack! Left to right crash cymbals on my kit from the drummers view: 17", 18" K Custom, 18" K Sweet, 20" K Cluster. Any K is going to sound absolutely fantastic. Just be careful with K sweets as they are thin and can crack easier but sounds freaking terrific! 20" K Cluster is probably my favorite hands down so far. It's super washy and just the way it sounds is so nice and can be used for any type of music. But is a thinner cymbal. K Customs are a bit thicker. If you can afford it, by all means you won't regret it (until it possibly cracks like any cymbal, lol!) I've cracked the 17" K custom, but the 18" is still going strong after a few years (knock on wood). Here's a short I did on the 18" K Custom. Used a Warm Audio WA-87 microphone with raw audio for sound test. ruclips.net/user/shortsDulsXkq8q3I Hope that helps!
@jamesmyersdrums yeah man that did help! This is the first cymbal i cracked and its a round crack so might fidle with it to make something of a half decent stack I ll check out the k s tommorow i guess Also..... any snare recomendations?😅 I m a self taught drummer and been playing for 4 years now so i m still on the first kit i bougt hahaha
@@WildMonkDrumcovers Yes a stack might work! Round crack around the bell? If it's not in the bell, and more on the body, you can always use a metal cutting tool to cut it out and save the cymbal from cracking more. Bell cracks are tough though. 4 years nice dude! Way to go! Keep it up! You sound great! I played since I was like 2 years old but then stopped for 10 years, until I started this YT channel and got back into it. It's like starting over basically. I still have my first kit as well! (it's like 20 years old now lol) Snares are personal preferences. Also depends on the heads you like. My snare in this video is the snare that you can get with the kit (but mine came separate) which is a Pearl Session Studio Select 14 x 6.5" Birch / Mahogany and I use a Remo Powerstroke P 77 coated clear dot drum head on it and on most of my snares. It kills the overtones / ring so you don't need a silence ring, tape, drum dot (or wallet) on it. I also have a pork pie 14 x 6.5" 8 ply maple shell snare that sounds just as good. Mapex black panther, Pearl Sensitone, Ludwig black beauty are really good from what I hear. Really any high-end pricey snares are good as well. 14 x 6.5 is a good size if you like the deep cracking snare sound. I have a PDP 20ply snare that's pretty cool and very heavy to carry lol. But sounds good. I'm more of a wood guy personally. I just like hand built wood. Eventually want to get a custom stave or segmented snare or even try making one myself one day. But my workhorse is the Pearl SSS that I have on the kit. I'm all about complete kits as well. I don't have a large enough drum room to setup my entire kit as I do have every drum made for the session studio select including 2 bass drums. That's why I show them stacked up behind me, same kit just can't fit them all in there lol. Long response, sorry hope that helps a bit though!
@jamesmyersdrums The crack is round 2 cm out of the edge of the cymbal Its 4 cm long by now so might need to get it replaced I could cut it circulair but that would mess up the sound wouldnt it I played an electric kit when i was in the navy Took that thing with me for 3 years but could not do lessons so i just tried stuff When i quit the navy i saw it was all rusted and it wouldnt function( Who knew salt water would mess up Electronic hahaha) Bought my first mapex beginner acoestic kit because my friend wanted to start a band and i thought why not hahaha Been playing ever since, no lessons and Just going with youtube drumcovers on how to play the song we wanted to play wirh the band and 6 months ago i build a studio in his shed and started to mix my drums etc The yt channel to me is a way to put my stuff out in the world and i hope to get feedback wich makes me better Its a good drive isnt it!! You dont say you have started over not to long ago man! You re great and i love watching you!!! ( and stealing techniques from you cuz thats how i learn muhahahaha) Those are some good snares man I m Just getying in to that so i dont realy have a preference Just jet, my kit at home has been one with mesheads and for live performances i used the kit of my friends old drummer ( an old pearl export seen in my first videos) so i never tuned a drum until 6 months ago hahaha I ve heard a lot about that black panther so i guess i ll check it out 😁 Thanks for the reply my friend And if you ever see a video of mine and think something can be better, i d love to hear the critique of someone like you 🤘
@ it will alter the sound a bit cutting the cymbal but if you’re trying to save money or just practicing it works just fine to do that. Also wanted to just store my videos here on yt and show friends and family that never seen me play back then. Pearl makes some of the best kits. Pearl export is pretty good! That was actually my first kit. Pearl export 25 anniversary edition. Sounds good dude! I just encourage you to keep playing and have fun! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
