Blue Mechakoopas are my favorite simply because of how ridiculous they are, and we really haven’t seen amazing quite like it. I also love how winged Mechakoopas work, and can see them being used in really fun ways!
The zappa mechakoopa is my favourite because the first time i saw him in the update trailer, i almost jumped of the chair when they shooted their freaking lasers.
First I'm French so sorry if I have a bad English speaking, and second I don't have SMM2 so sorry if you I say something wrong... My opinion : The green Mechakoopa is good because he follow you and can't be be defeat by a simple jump, and because he can wake up after a while, you can do some crazy contraption with it. In the night theme, the Mechakoopa get some crazy jetpack shoes and can fly around. With the SMB2 mushroom in the sky or airship theme, you can do some really cool slow falling platforming with the flying shoes of the Mechakoopa. Add wings to some of the to use it at moving platform. The basic a cool and really simple and are a the second place of my classement. The red is cool to use it at a bomb or a platform because you can control it by moving. That's good for some crazy boss fight or puzzle game, but I do not really think about if they are useful in classic level... One things to notes : the missiles are slower under water so you can do a semi underwater theme, in the jungle, were in the top section you use the bullet at his full speed and by going through a pit, the bullet get slower so it's a different control of it. Add to that the frog suit in SMB3 and you can make a crazy level about it. Last thing, the bullet do not explode if SMB2 Mario grab it, again some crazy puzzle and platforming can be done with that mechanic. In the night theme, there is again some crazy stuff you can do with it but I think that's good to use them like the normal one but with the bullet in bonus for some platforming in SMB2 slow falling sky or airship theme. It's the most useful one but not my favorite Mechakoopa because it's hard to control it. The blue Mechakoopa is really cool and I think the most crazy one. You can use the Lazer of the little one for super fast platforming or puzzle with ON/OFF blocks, but the most interesting part of the blue Mechakoopa is the big one. The big one can shoot a Lazer and destroy blocks with it, so you can make crazy platforming and the Mechakoopa destroy your platform. If a Mechakoopa destroy a block that contain a key, you will grab it, so you can do really crazy mechanism with that. Last thing : underwater the Lazer is slower and shorter, so you can do a puzzle level were you start in the jungle and when taking a pipe, you are in the same place but underwater, so you can use the Mechakoopa at your advantage. For exemple : Luigi is in the jungle and can't pass because the platform is too high. He go in a pipe an can swim up because the layout are exactly the same but underwater for one of them. After that, a blue Mechakoopa shoot a Lazer but he don't destroy all the blocks, so Luigi go in a pipe and this time, he isn't underwater so the Mechakoopa shoot longer and destroy all the blocks. In the night theme I thinks that exactly the same as the two fist one so nothing to say about that... The blue one is my favorite because it's the most crazy, I think it's cool for boss fight, puzzle and platforming. Mechakoopas are the most useful non-3DWorld enemy's, and a really cool add to the game.
My favorite mechakoopa has to be the Zappa mechakoopa. IMO, they are easily the most unique mechakoopas because their lasers can be used in some very interesting ways. It also was pretty surprising to first see them in the trailer.
I wouldn't say Mechakoopa is the best addition in the update, but it's definetly the most underrated. My favorite mechakoopa is probably the balsta mechakoopa.
A couple more things to note: - The range of the Zap beam can be adjusted with breakable blocks. The more blocks it has to travel through, the less distance it'll go. - In themes with low gravity, you can infinitely spin jump on Mechakoopas for a makeshift vehicle. It's tricky but it's similar to Bo-Bomb surfing (except your platform doesn't explode). - More of a fact but in NSMB for the Wii, Mechakoopas explode, something removed in MM2. Something I'd be interested in seeing are videos on how different themes affect items/enemies/power ups. For example, I'd love to see how Mechakoopas react to night themes. Maybe a new research/mythbuster series? Anyway, great content, keep it up :)
I have an idea for an boss fight against Morton Koopa Jr. that utilizes the regular MechaKoopas. So, the arena takes place with a multi-layered floor. All of these layers are made of frozen coins, that Morton's ground-traveling projectiles can actually melt, with one empty row between layers, except for between the last two, which has the locked exit door, and Morton obviously has the key. So where do the MechaKoopas come in? Well, Morton has a Muncher on his head to protect him from your jumps. Between each the frozen coin floor layers are one MechaKoopa in each empty row that you need to throw at Morton to damage him. Morton will melt the last layer if you aren't fast enough, and you'll be screwed. So, here's the pattern of floor, for your reference. Frozen coin, empty with MechaKoopa, frozen coin, empty with MechaKoopa, frozen coin, empty with MechaKoopa, frozen coin, empty, but two blocks tall and with the locked door.
The original Mechakoopas are my favorite because they remind me of Super Mario World. I beat it when I was 9. The memories! I still play it on Switch though through the nintendo switch online nes pack!
Im making a super world based around a mecha that Bowser made. The mecha spreads Mechakoopas all around the world, and now toad has to stop them! But I did not know that Mechakoopas were so underrated.
You forgot to mention that giant blue mechakoopas can destroy hard blocks and brick blocks, while normal-sized blue mechakoopas can destroy brick blocks, but they cannot destroy hard blocks

I don't have a switch but I have came up with quite a few boss ideas and anyone I know who could make the level lives quite a ways away I was inspired by this video and the koopalings video however I plan on making my own video game with multiple play styles so I could use the ideas in the 2.5d platformer style
I'll give you an idea: The winged Buzzys if you get on them it will be like a platform, so if you put them on a muncher and put the muncher on a stone block and the stone block you put it on a rail, the rail will take the block also leading to the buzzy and you can get on it. I don't know if you understood me correctly
Mechakoopa idea: Mario has the Acorn Power up,hanging on a Wall and need to wait until the laser Mechakoopa fires its laser at a powblock that kills the Munsher and clears the way to the goal. But be careful: the Powblock should be in a saw blade so that Mario cannot activate it. 2: Flying Squirrel Clear Condition. 3: Under Mario (under Wall) there should be saw blades or abyss so that it must not fall off (logical) .You can try it yourself😊
Mecha Koopas are veru underrated, they fit in perfectly. If their was an enemy olympics for how useful they are, Mecha Koopas would win!(Possible Video Idea???)
I love Zappa mechakoopa and blasta mechakoopa, but I prefer regular ones for traditional levels. Oh, and I also used blasta mechakoopas to recreate Mecha Bowzilla 4.0
I like blue mechakoopas cause in Mario Bros, Mario Bros 3 and Mario World, their lasers sound so cool! And the blue rectangle that appears just before the shot that gets thinner and thinner and the sound effect for those in the previously mentioned styles are just as epic! I don't like them so much in new sup though.
My favourite is the Zappa mecha koopa, I think it funny a goofy looking mech shoots lasers, it was a real surprise for me, as I had not watched the the trailer before seeing the new things in the update

Zappa! Is so cool that it shoots a beam! You can make a really hard level with just dodging the beams!
I don't have a switch but I have came up with quite a few boss ideas and anyone I know who could make the level lives quite a ways away I was inspired by this video and the koopalings video however I plan on making my own video game with multiple play styles so I could use the ideas in the 2.5d platformer style
