- Since the Eberlestock Just One is my go to pack I have decided to do a gear dump video on it. This way you can see what I load in the bag and I even tell you where I got the gear. With this set-up I am prepared to spend a night on the mountain if need be. I started hunting big game out west with my kids a few years back and it has completely different requirements in terms of fitness, gear, and mental preparation. On my first trip to Montana I got lost with my two kids and we were woefully unprepared. This led to getting better hunting packs and never going in the woods without a compass, fire making supplies, extra wool, and a host of other gear. Learn from my experience instead of learning the hard way. Be prepared for your next hunting adventure in the mountains.

03:52 I had guessed it before you said it. Vortex Diamondback HD and that looks like the 12X50. Same as what I have. Now, of course, they offer the 12X56. Anyway, I would recommend anyone, from bird watcher to mountain hunter, get these binocs and you will not need another pair. Twisting the dial, you can see different distances or fields of depth. Before, I would hunt looking through the riflescope. This is so much better. You can tell if that was wood pulp from a broken tree branch or part of an antler (usually the former.) Or if that is a brown leaf twisting in the breeze or the flank of a buck (usually the former.) And if it is just vegetation, you did not waste energy and noise getting the rifle into position.
I have ordered the Just One, Super Spike, and the butt cover, just waiting for delivery. And I am so glad to see that this can work for big game hunting, like elk. Right now, I am using the Alps Commander Z full frame and folding meat shelf and I think that is overkill. The frame itself is adding weight. More importantly, it is bulky. I need something like this that compresses to something below the crown of my head when able but expands to carry about 40 pounds of meat.
