7:04 I agree more mr2's and just more cars in general people like you barry huang and ducc show us, hey this isn't rx7 Rx8 Evo 8/9 simulator it's wangan midnight, the game where there are more than 5 cars in the game. and respect for using a non meta car cause we have more than enough of those sheep.
Last year, I returned to WMMT6RR with MR2 as my new partner.
ReL and samy's evaluation of MR2 is very accurate.
No one around me uses MR2 either.
I also hope that more people will use MR2.

*MR2* is my favorite car of all, especially with the improved 6.2 drift physics. It's just a bit slower than an RX7, but easier to squeeze through tight spaces and better for throttle steering. It also looks super cool with the baby NSX body kit and the big old Subaru wing. It's everything I wanted my Countach, V-Spec, NSX, R8, & RX7 to be and more. It's super competitive at 600hp basic tuning. I'm not liking the driving pace full tuned these days, but my new Toyota lunch box van is nerfier than even my RX7 having beaten my own ghost soundly with it. Love MR2s! Soooo underrated and used! Get out in front of all the fender bending, especially in the twisties and watch everyone fail to keep up. Favorite car! Now to get it purpled. If you drive it smooth enough, it's wicked fast and doesn't suffer at all in the top end. I would say it's only drawback is fender bending which I don't do. It's the game's "Lotus Emira". I'm a finesse driver. I wouldn't call the car "grippy" as it likes to slide a lot more than an RX7, but because it has such a short wheelbase, you can throttle steer it, especially now with the May 2024 new drifting physics. I drive mine full auto and never have problems totally losing another 600hp car. It's hard to catch up to and pass top drivers, but an AWESOME car for lite-speed enthusiasts and can keep up with the best of 'em. I've got plenty of RX7, EVO, Porsche & GTR pelts already
just got pink ground effects and now, first time it's happened I think, my MR2's body tuning (parts?) is complete, but I still haven't gotten a 2nd pain upgrade after a couple hundred wins. I'm soooo jealous of your purple one. the game BETTER keep giving me paint chips

Many uncommon non meta cars to consider out there, but yea sure I’ll keep the AE86 in mind haha.
I’d like to say I do my car reviews based on whether I feel like a certain car strikes out to me. I do reviews based on my own motivation too, so don’t really put your hopes high on another review so soon. I think I’ll take a break from reviewing cars for now haha :)

Nah, I’m not planning to put car stats. Too much info isn’t good. This is just a casual review of a car, not some highly detailed review of the car so yea. But thanks for the suggestion.

When i was still playing MT3DX+ back then, i used to play weird and uncomonly used cars like Evo 6 (i like 5 speed cars, they're pretty comfy for me for some reasons),Subaru SVX 4 speed (4 speed gearbox feels pretty weird lol), as for the MR2, i was scrolling which cars i should pick for my next card, i looked around the Toyotas, i see the usual popular car the Supra, and then i see MR2 i was like "wth is this Ferrari doing here?" I picked it as my next card car, and damn, it became my favorite after the Evo 6, the car's handlings soo strong that i dont have to brake as hard to turn, its really enjoyable and its 5 speed gearbox is a bonus as well for me, i do feel like the car's lightweight makes it get thrown around alot by beefier cars, and scraping the wall is eqeuivalent to braking (which i sometimes do when im too lazy to step the brake lol)
Overal this is a pretty fun car to main
Yes mr2 is the best car i have used but i can never win in brake blocking battles so i used brake blocking feinting, but in only works on wide roads like osaka straight, new belt and wangan and i can win against so many aggressive r32 drivers

I know mr2 solely because of a card corruption I had. I was pretty pissed off so I had to buy a new card (this was wmmt3dx+ mind you). So while I was scrolling through the cars, I was thinking “Should I go for an evo? Oh wait, maybe I should just get another Bnr32”. But then I saw the Mr2. I was skeptical at first since it was a 5 shifter car and I usually choose 6 shifters but then I tuned it more. And jeez is that thing basically on crack. The acceleration is abysmally fast so I could get into situations where I’d hit trucks, yet still get first because of the accel. It is still my favorite car next to the hiace which I call “the alter ego” because of how you need to swap to the mr2 if you want to get the hiace.
I would say that the issue with the MR2 is it's weight in general and the current meta just not favouring it.
If you've played long enough, you'll know that the new meta for WMMT6 and onwards just favours 6spd cars more and the boost for the MR2 after 5 was made slightly worse.
The boost build for the MR2 is inherently slow so you'll never be the one to pick the routes during initial charge from the rolling start in maps like C1 and due to the slow boost, you'll always find yourself being catch up upon really quickly even if you have like a 50m gap between you and your next opponent. The 5th gear ratios for the current system isn't helping it either and neither is the lack of high top speed.
The weight of the thing isn't helping it either. Sure it can do a direct block like every car does but when push comes to shove, you'll find yourself being shoved consistently by almost everything on the grid that people uses be it Evo 8, 9, R32, R34s and even the Mazda 110S and FD pushes this thing out of the way waaay too easily.
However, as Rel said, it's grippy and if you know what to do when you're getting jammed upon, credit goes to you and if you can hold your pace in technical maps like C1, Taikan and normal Hakone, you're completely fine as the MR2 is grippy, doesn't oversteer into oblivion like the R32 nor understeer like the Evo 9 and Subaru GDs.
It's flickable weight is REASON #1 for my total MR2 love. It's perfect for precision driving and ALMOST easy to drive in tight twisties. It's a nimble little minx.
