    Could you replace a table saw with a track saw and router? What do you think of all the features on this saw and the tracks?

    • @carterscustomrods
      @carterscustomrods 2 года назад

      I did... not by choice, but since I list use of my left arm/leg, it wouldn't be safe using a table saw.
      However, I don't have a track saw... I use a makita xsh03z with their track adapter but it's far from a track saw. And using a true (right blade) track saw isn't an option with just my right hand.
      It's baffling that there are no good left blade track saws. (One left blade track saw exists, but it's garbage from Kreg.) If left blade track saws existed, righties would use them. I'm a former lefty, and right blade track saws were great for us.
      Ever see a lefty use a track saw?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад +1

      Interesting point. I've looked closely at the Kreg saw at a trade show, but haven't actually used it. I like their other accessories for rough framing projects.

      @carterscustomrods 2 года назад

      @@MarkThomasBuilder yeah, certain things are ok.. but they lack durability. The saw... ughh... it's horrible.
      Personally, if Kreg were to upgrade the plastics and aluminum quality, they could have good items. But even then the track saw is a no-go. They never cut straight as the blade shaft that the blade is mounted to, is ever so slightly misaligned. And track wobble is an issue as well.
      It's bizarre. Not as bizarre as Makita making a 40 volt ¼" router that is identical to their 18v version. Hahaaa. (They dropped the ball on making that a ½" router. All that power, and nowhere to use it lol.)
      Tool brands in general are starting to fall fast. I think it might be due to the newer CoviDIY'ers. They've attributed to such an increase in tool sales, but don't have the experience to know any better. So they fall for hype, and promotional reviews too easily. From Spicy Pillow Batteries, to "MoAr ToRqUe!!!" Propaganda lol.
      It's reminiscent of the early 90's and 00's.
      I'm at the point now where I'm just gonna start Frankenstein'ing tools to make one good version with the best parts of every brand hahaaa.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад

      That would've been great to see a 1/2" router that's cordless. Thanks for sharing your insights on the Kreg saw. Interesting points.

    • @gr7485
      @gr7485 2 года назад +1

      Sure, I think it would be a useful tool to have. But to answer your question about could I use it to replace my table saw or router/shaper I'd say it depends. When you need to make truly parallel, repeatable, accurate cuts and routes you just can't beat stationary table mounted tools. For cutting various sizes of sheathing or sub-floor panels for example yes it could be handy to have.
      As usual an excellent review. Thanks.

    Not sure about USA, but the track lengths are 800mm, 1100mm,1600mm, 2100mm and 3100mm. The 800mm and 1600mm also come with cabinet build options where the holes are 32mm apart and can use a router with the track.

    I'm a huge Bosch fan. I've had and sold a Festool and Wen track saw as well as tried my hand at making my own tracks with wood. I'm liking my new Bosch track saw which cuts cleanly and quickly and the track set-up is great - no more wondering if the connector is straight. I just did my first cuts and I noticed the blade was cutting a few degrees off 90 even with the bevel set at 0. I tore the saw apart looking for an adjustment mechanism and found none. Anyone have a similar experience?
    UPDATE: There is a small set-screw at the rear of the saw that is well hidden and not mentioned in the user manual. Do not confuse it with the other 2 screws for adjusting the "more than 90" settings.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад

      I'm a big fan of the track system too. It's quick and easy to set up with no alignment issues to worry about. I haven't had a problem with the bevel, sorry I don't know anything about adjustments to it.

    • @bryannin6513
      @bryannin6513 2 года назад +1

      There IS an adjustment for the bevel angle adjustment. Mine was off about 1.5 degrees, as well. The disappointing thing though, there is NOT a way to reset the bevel scale pointer to 0 after you adjust the saw! HUGE fail in the design. I've contacted Bosch and confirmed that you can't reset it. I have to remember I'm 1.5 degrees off when setting the saw. Anyways, this is where I found the bevel adjust allen screw: ruclips.net/video/KZfqU1ndvv8/видео.html

      Thanks, I've been looking at them for awhile and really like this one. The track system is excellent. I've been using the Milwaukee 8 Gallon Dust Extractor for over a year and it's powerful, yet nice and quiet. I especially like the tool switch feature.

    In your honest opinion, how does the Bosch track saw compare to the new Milwaukee? I’ve narrowed my decision to purchase between these two track saw brands. Excellent reviews on both platforms!

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Год назад +2

      Thanks, that's a good question. I really need to do a side by side comparison video. Both of them work well and you'll get good results either way. As far as the rails go, Milwaukee rails are more robust, but the Bosch are easier to connect and line up. If you get the 1pc rail then it's not an issue. Bosch is corded and Milwaukee is cordless. Both glide well on the rails and cut nice. Hope that helps. If you're not making a decision for awhile, I hope to get a video in about 3 weeks.

    Is there any reason this saw couldn't be used as a joiner for at least 1 side? I know I can't join the long side of a 2x6, but the 2' side then a planer and I think I should be fine. Home hobby stuff.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад

      Now that you mention it, yes it could be used to straighten up the side.

    Today i went dealer around here to check bosch plunge saw but base plate was not dead flat wobbling 500 euro machine. i give up buying bosch. Mafell and festool checked both way to expensive fancy tools, So best option makita set 330 euro cheap and quality avarage will do job as much as others too.

    Just got this saw and love it but found that it trimmed the blue strip on the track the first time I used it. Before I use any of my other track pieces is that normal or is there an adjustment I need to do?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Год назад

      That is normal. It's basically dialing in your blade exactly to that blue trim piece. There should be some of the blue strip left on the track.

    Hi Mark

  • @carterscustomrods

    Shame that STILL, no one makes a (good) left blade track saw for righties to use. (Righties should use a left blade track saw. I'm a former lefty, and you have no idea what you're missing. )
    I was holding out on the left blade Strongarm, because I love Bosch's Profactor line. But they brought out the 💩 version first (no plunge or track capability) and I'm losing faith in Bosch as they seem to be run by idiots making decisions at the top. There were so many good tools they were supposed to release this year and next, but they're not. The prototype testing had many awesome, (some not so awesome) tools. One, Bosch users have asked for for years... and it was perfected last year, and amazing.
    It's like the Exec's at Bosch North America don't want to release things because they make enough money and would rather golf, and live off the Rotary Drill and laser level sales, as opposed to making more money.
    I have a lot of Bosch ( after dumping my Dewalts... that company has gone to 💩).

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад

      I mostly own Bosch laser distance measurers, cross line lasers, and masonry bits. I'm happy with those tools. I don't own any other their other battery power tools, but will be interested to see what they introduce this year.
      I've been running this track saw for 6 months and it's worked very well for me. I especially like the track system.
