      @@renumeratedfrog Kinda sortof... But it would stick out the side of the tower. You could hide it behind some leaves.

    What a lovely weather-beaten old lighthouse! Love the rotating light. Such simple redstone too, I would have over-engineered it way too much 😆💜

    Bit after the fact, but thank you. I was looking for a nice, simple lighthouse for a fishing village build and this one fit perfectly. I love that it is square and not round.
    That just makes it feel less modern and more rustic to me.

    not gonna lie, i was using your thumbnail as inspiration for my own lighthouse.
    i liked certain elements from the design i wanted to rip off (cough) i mean artistically utilize.
    but i needed a close up of one feature, so i came here for a 1080p screenshot.

    and now i have a rotating light in my lighthouse!

    Less than a minute in and I can already tell this build is gonna be sick af~
    Edit: So cool how you did the bottom on the outside by pulling the parts of the wall that overhang down into the foundation. Very natural looking and just one of those extra little details that really pulls it all together~

    • @armun
      @armun  Год назад +1

      Thanks a lot! It is actually a 'rebuild' of a tower near by. I just put a light on top. It has the same overhang. So naturally indeed but something someone else thought about a few hundred years ago and not my idea 😉

    • @BandhariWickette
      @BandhariWickette Год назад +1

      @@armunI used to be awful at building so I just started doing tutorials but after doing so many, it was like I started to naturally pick up on all these little things that builders do to add that bit of magic to Minecraft builds and I was able to kind of learn how they make things with all the dimensions and texture and whatnot so I totally get that because my original builds that I've done since getting better at it are very clearly influenced by all the good builders like you that I watch. Building on creative is my favorite~
      Edit: Subbed! I don't sub often but I am just loving your builds~

    • @armun
      @armun  Год назад +1

      Then I hope my videos don't disappoint 😉
      BTW that's exactly like I 'learned' to build. Started with building tutorials and after some time started to combine and add things.
      You really learn a lot, especially dimensions. For example It makes so much difference if a wall is an odd or even number long, how it effects window placement and even the possible shapes of the roof.
      I still watch tutorials today and learn something new every day 😊

    I love this cute little
    Lighthouse. Great decorating as well! I just wish the tutorial was a little more detailed in the building of it part. For example, I’m guessing you used the stone fence posts on the corners of the tower? I’m terrible at building and not very creative so the details are important! Great video and build though, I love this! ❤

    • @armun
      @armun  2 года назад +2

      I'm guessing you meant the stone walls? Those go on the corners, yes (and between the battlements). Here is the timestamp: 4:29
      Really hard to see.
      It's not easy to find the right balance between keeping the video as short as possible and show as much as possible. Sometimes things are a bit hard to figure out, I have to admit.
      But you can always ask :)

    • @kimberlym707
      @kimberlym707 2 года назад +1

      @@armun yes, I meant the stone walls! 😂
      I’m currently building this on my survival realm, it’s half done and looks awesome so far. I didn’t want to spend the extra time and resources making all those extra stone bricks, so I keep pausing the video to see where you’ve placed all the differing blocks (like I said I’m not very creative myself lol), while your working on the inside floors. I do seem to be having trouble on the ladders though where the trapdoors are at each level, so I had to take those out. I don’t know if that’s a bedrock only issue, but it won’t let me get up into the room with them there. I like the look better with them though. Again, beautiful build so thank you for creating the video!

    • @armun
      @armun  2 года назад +2

      The trapdoors between the ladders don't work in bedrock. In java you can climb right over them. And the different blocks can always be added later. That's how I build in my survival world. First just bricks and detailing when I'm finished.

    • @kimberlym707
      @kimberlym707 2 года назад +1

      Hey I have a question for you. So I started playing a new realm/server and I’m trying out Java this time. I wanted to make the lighthouse a little larger so instead of the 5x walls I made them 7x, and went a little taller to add an extra room above the bedroom and below the enchanting room.
      So my question is, with this change in size & height I also wanted 3 rows of rotating lights. So how should I place the observers/lights and how many should I use on each row? I’m thinking I should raise it up two blocks using 7 instead of 5 for the height, but then how much should I extend the observers etc? I followed the tutorial exactly when I made this the first time on my own realm and it looked amazing.

    • @armun
      @armun  2 года назад

      @@kimberlym707 Then it is getting complicated. The signal from a observer is only strong enough to light 2 lamps above or below. if you want more lights you have to build the obervers a second time mirrored/upside down on top. And then it is very hard to synchronize both rotations because they move independent from each other.
      Here is a tutorial that shows this. Different size but the same principal:
      ruclips.net/video/IVC2c8dxXc4/видео.html
      I hope this helps

    Just built this, no problems with the lights on bedrock anymore, for the curious. Am I not using the ladders right? With the trap doors in, I get stuck at them, can't jump to the floor above. Is this just a me thing?

    • @armun
      @armun  10 месяцев назад

      That's a bedrock thing I learned. You have to use a continuous ladder. On the top of the lighthouse you can place a trapdoor on top of the ladder.

    How do you make a bigger light

    • @armun
      @armun  2 года назад

      For a bigger light you have to use redstone. It won't work like this.
      Here is a tutorial by Dreymasmith Dreams. A lot of sizes and shapes.

  • @johnb5986

    Lights just stopped working properly on bedrock 1.20.1 bottom row is rotating top row is now staying on solid.
    It had been working just fine. I haven’t made any changes to it.

    • @armun
      @armun  Год назад

      That's strange since the signal is coming from above. No problems in Java 1.20.1... Maybe try and turn it off an on again? :D
      Kidding, try placing the redstone lamps again that would be my first suggestion. Can't test it in bedrock right now, I first has to ask someone tomorrow. But maybe this fixes it.

    • @trystenrocchi
      @trystenrocchi 7 месяцев назад

      I also ran into the same issue on bedrock.

    • @smorod2763
      @smorod2763 7 месяцев назад

      I hit the same issue (on java) and have an explanation for it. If your observers span over multiple chunks, the problem starts when the chunks are unloaded and then loaded again. When then are unloaded, only one of the observers in the upper layer is active and this state is saved. Later on, when the chunks are loaded again, one of the chunks will load first. If the active observer was on this side, the signal will be lost because the upper layer of observers is incomplete and does not form a cycle (case 1). Then the other chunk will load. If the active observer was on that side, the signal will be able to propagate as the cycle of observers is complete again (case 2).
      My theory is that, when the second chunk gets loaded, one of the observers in the first chunk sees this as a block change and initiates a new redstone signal. If we are in case 1, this is great, as this will replace the lost signal. However, if we are in case 2, we end up with *two* signals within the cycle. If you still have a visual access to the observers, you will notice that they blink twice as fast as they should. Because of this, the upper layer of lights no longer have the time to turn off between signals, and will stay permanently on. The lights in the lower layer receive a shorter signal from the observers, so they will have the time to turn off between signals, but their duty cycle will be much higher than it should.
      Unfortunately the only way to avoid this, as far as I know, is to make sure to build your lighthouse in a location where all the observers will belong to the same chunk. So I will tear mine down and rebuild it entirely shifted by one block.

    I followed everything exact and still can't get the redstone lights to flash. :c the observers all flash, but not the lights.

    • @armun
      @armun  Год назад +1

      Hmm.. If the red dots on the observers flash, everything should be working correctly and the signal should light the redstone lamps. From your description I can't think of a reason why it doesn't work. If you want you can send me some screenshots. On my Channel > Channel Info there is a contact e-mail.
