you guys are total studs!! I'll be installing a complete stereo system for my son's first car. The 96 LS 400 bad ass car. Thanks I learned how to get the door pnl off. Pressures on I have to nail this for him, he's stoked. thanks again.
great team you guys must have fun. reminds me of me and my friend, with an LS400 too but instead my friend just found out i have extendable sun visors ayyyy
@@carfoolery6646 Still haven't fixed it yet. It's completely broken now other than a tiny piece I can barely grab onto. Finally found one on eBay the color I need it at a decent price so I'm gonna be doing it for sure soon. (also required for inspection.)
Truly a horror movie for LS400 owners.... people, go out and get the plastic tools designed to do this job, they're cheap and will not permanently mark or damage the door "trim".... we say "trim" in Australia.
I am in the middle of this same job on my 99 LS, and stuck on the step of getting the rod out of the old yellow clip on the old handle. I saw you guys struggle with it in the parking lot before the clip ended up breaking. What did you use to break that clip?? I can’t get it.
Ok so when I took out the remote control panel on the from the door, some of the wires from the door were out from the part I had to disconnect. Idk what spots the wires go in. Any clue??
After watching your video, I think that I am going to just drill some access holes for those two screws that hold the handle in place. That may save me some time. On the other hand, my Mechanic told me that he would do it for me for $100. That may be worth it !!
@Roachmane. Actually, it will give you easier access without detriment. The screw rearward is blocked by a plastic channel with no access hole. A small enough hole to slip a screwdriver will no harm, unlike those screwing with the suspension and slamming it to the ground. #ASEcertified

That's awesome you're fixing up an LS400 for your son. They are such incredible cars!!!

We absolutely have fun. Thank you for watching! Do you and your friend make videos too?
Does anyone know if I have to remove my door panel to get to my side mirror?
No you don't. But it's a pain in the ass as well the harness inside the side mirrors doesn't just slide right out.
I gotta do this to my 94 LS400. (To both front doors) I hope it goes smoothly!
Good luck!!

After we filmed this, I did eventually go out and buy those plastic trim tools.

The yellow clip that is holding the rod into the handle mechanism has to be rotated 90 degrees and then the rod can slide out!
I have a 1997 Lexus ls400. Does a Toyota door handle work for these?

You should have stated the year so it is clear what generation 400 it is.
