In 2015 Ryan and Steven decided to make a RUclips channel about the average car enthusiast to encourage more people to go out and have fun (legally, of course) with their cars. We posted our first video in 2016, and now we spend as much of our time as we can with the CarfoolFam working on our cars and making videos about it. Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, BMWs, Mazdas, Fords, Acuras, we have them all! Mostly because we all compulsively collect cars, but we will gloss over that... So check out our videos and our cars!
Ryan - Toyota MR2 Turbo, 3.5 other MR2s, Nissan 240SX
Steven - Lexus LS400, Honda Prelude 2.0SI 4WS
John - Nissan Skyline GTR, Acura Integra
Sam - BMW M3, Mazda Miata
DIllon - Mazda RX7, Acura Integra
Alex - Nissan 300ZX

this is crazy. my alternator just went out, and it's the day after thanksgiving...
That's crazy! But hopefully you found comfort in knowing you werent alone!
Glad to see the Integra back. If you end up doing Larison Rock, maybe we could do a econobox showdown between the Integra and my Mazda 3! Edit: since this footage is from a while back, do you have this car still?
Haha, no the integra is long gone sadly, but I am trying to figure out a hillclimb shitbox, (maybe the red automatic MR2) so I'll definitely let you know and we can film a showdown together! I would be happy to do more joint videos, they are a lot of fun.
after removing all the door panel screws pull slightly around the edges of the door panel to pop the plastic push pins. You also have to remove the bezel, and feed the wires and button asssembly through the hole in the door panel NOTE: there is a screw underneath. Then you have to shove the door panel UP, BEFORE you pull it off..... don't just try to pull it straight off you might break something, the panel is hooked across the top edge where the window slides up and down. The control rod to open the door has a yellow plastic clip that unclips and rotates 90-deg.
Miss all of the videos you guys used to put out. Hope you all come back ❤
I like this guy, he cracks me uo from the righty breakie to the wires all in a rats nest lmao.
hows the car doin hehe :D
Not good rhon. The prelude is no more... we have the farewell video also on the channel
Just did mines 2 weeks ago it’s a mfker getting it out but once you get it it’s easy💯
Does anyone know if I have to remove my door panel to get to my side mirror?
No you don't. But it's a pain in the ass as well the harness inside the side mirrors doesn't just slide right out.
gosh I really want a prelude
You should have stated the year so it is clear what generation 400 it is. 98-00?
you guys are total studs!! I'll be installing a complete stereo system for my son's first car. The 96 LS 400 bad ass car. Thanks I learned how to get the door pnl off. Pressures on I have to nail this for him, he's stoked. thanks again.
I have the same car and doin the same thing
That's awesome you're fixing up an LS400 for your son. They are such incredible cars!!!
How do you adjust the height to aim the headlights??
there are screws by the headlights that you can screw in to adjust where your headlights are pointed
Bruh half of my headlight stopped working lol
After watching your video, I think that I am going to just drill some access holes for those two screws that hold the handle in place. That may save me some time. On the other hand, my Mechanic told me that he would do it for me for $100. That may be worth it !!
Lame
@Roachmane. Actually, it will give you easier access without detriment. The screw rearward is blocked by a plastic channel with no access hole. A small enough hole to slip a screwdriver will no harm, unlike those screwing with the suspension and slamming it to the ground. #ASEcertified
Ok so when I took out the remote control panel on the from the door, some of the wires from the door were out from the part I had to disconnect. Idk what spots the wires go in. Any clue??
Absolutely no educational value in this video
This is a very underrated video. Bravo sirs!
Your video is very fun to watch because you are very funny - thanks very much for including the year of the Lexus LS400 - most of the Alternator+LS400 videos omit this very important DATE.
Dam came across your Video very impressive. I have 1990 4WS myself. What kind of lights Bull are you using ? Any links pls
I believe we linked all the light bulbs and other products in the description of the video!
Power steering is for the weak!! XD
How dare you talk down about the greatest integra and its amenities
I am in the middle of this same job on my 99 LS, and stuck on the step of getting the rod out of the old yellow clip on the old handle. I saw you guys struggle with it in the parking lot before the clip ended up breaking. What did you use to break that clip?? I can’t get it.
The yellow clip that is holding the rod into the handle mechanism has to be rotated 90 degrees and then the rod can slide out!
Educational
How were you anime the headlight beams
You aim the beams the same way as the regular beams, with the two adjustment screws on the front of the popup assembly
haha, sure you didn't, you just did not think to use the ones from the door panels. I been through similar non-sense, ... hope that rebuild of that DB went well, don't abuse is, there is not much DB1's left.
Well there are already the next 6 or so episode that lead up to it competing in its first race. And I'm currently editing the rest of the cars story while we still owned it. So if you want you can watch where the story goes!
screw into the orifice of the hose works best
Yeah I think you're right. But I think we didnt have any spare screws at the time.
This is crazy cool I’m glad your putting the content up
Thank you for watching! We have a lot of fun sharing our adventures with everyone! You should check out the DB1 integra video series on Carfoolery channel as well! I think it's a much more fun video series.
Thanks a lot for this!! You should use a service such as P r o m o s m!!

Thanks Alan! New videos are moving to Monday for the next few weeks!
Honda!
Yeah! That prelude for only having 130whp was really fast and effective on the hillclimb racing!
@@ryanrink2641 That's plenty of HP in that striped down toy! I might still have 95 HP in my 120 HP Accord! 🤣
@Sagina1999 yeah the 130whp was decent power in combination with the 2350lb car (without driver) and then the tiny 13x8 wheels gave it the effect of a super low final drive gear set. So it actually did drive really fantastic as a racecar! It was also so cool getting to talk to the older guys who remembered when those 3rd gen preludes were brand new and in the pits we would always get the same question "why did you build a prelude racecar??" And to which Steven would reply "because I wanted to be different" The Prelude just brings back so many great memories...
@@ryanrink2641 Sweet!
After dealing with my brother's Skyline, I could totally understand why John sold the his GTR. They are cool but prices on everything is Skyline related is incredibly high.
I'm really sorry about your brothers BMW! That's absolutely terrible.
I forgot how epic the intro was to this series
I know! We really need to step our game back up to that level because that intro Steven made is just the best thing on the channel.
I want that mr2
Someone else wanted it really bad too and stole it when I was in Portland!
@@carfoolery6646 that sucks, I really just want the engine out of it to put in my Celica
What year celica? We used to have a 91 GTS 5sp and I'm so sad we sold it.... it was incredibly fun to drive.
@@carfoolery6646 I have a 90 gts 5sp, it’s so fun!
@Kyle Bryant let me drive it!!!
You guys have great energy! Super entertaining stuff. Auto-zone sponsor these guys!
Haha thanks for the Autozone bump! And thank you even more for watching our video! We have a lot of Prelude videos already on the channel. You can find our Prelude painting series, and Norwester 2017 where we do a 4 video, 4 day TSD rally adventure across 3 states!
I don’t recall ever seeing the prelude when it was stock. Crazy to see how it was before you went full race car with it.
It's actually kind of a shame that we full racecar'd it. Now that finding clean and good 80s/90s Japanese sports is becoming more and more impossible, but oh well. At least we have all these videos to remember the adventure! Also, congrats on your amazing ability to post every friday daniel! That's a lot of work you put into RUclips!
@@carfoolery6646 I may sell my '89 one day. Hey, only one owner!
No way you cant sell it! These 3rd gens are such interesting and unique classics now!
@@carfoolery6646 Well, if I do, I'll let you know. IDK if you have seen this, but the end is funny! "1989 Honda Accord Lxi Coupe 340,000 Miles" ruclips.net/video/SNmfe6yiu9w/видео.html
The almost shift into reverse would have been a sad ending!
11 sec, LOL. My CVT Subaru Justy could beat that!
Woah woah woah, 11 seconds was fast for the 80s! Haha
Thank you for watching and commenting VirtualMayhem! We really appreciate it! And when you're ready to drag race the just here in Oregon, you let us know!
@@carfoolery6646 I no longer have the Justy. It was campaigned in '93 with EESCC and Oregon SCCA. Went to '94 Icebreaker (or maybe following event) where I bicycled the Justy, everybody noticing how clean the underside was, so it was time for a car with a lower CG. I briefly tinkered with an '83 RX-7 for two weekends before trading in the Justy on a '94 Miata R.
Poor Steven, having to listen to me hit his car with a hammer for hours on end so I could remove 4 pounds of insulation and 50% of the vehicles value.
Still loving my old 1989 Accord Lxi Coupe!
I used to have an 87 LXi sedan. It was a great car!
@@ryanrink2641 Mine has 347,000 miles now never rebuilt. Getting a bit tired, but still fun. Switched out my old LightSpeed springs and Tokico shocks for some KSport coilovers. I like it! Take care guys!
@sagina1999 wow that's high mileage for sure, original engine and trans?
@@carfoolery6646 Yes, but I did have a valve job done w while back.
Hannah and I just watched this 😂👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks for watching! And even more so, thanks for giving us the car the started the whole adventure!
Good ol days
Damm that hood paint job 😂
Back when I was young and beautiful and you could get a manual trans sports car for only $800!
Is this road open to the public when not being used for events?
Yes it is. It's outside of Oakridge Oregon.
@@ryanrink2641 Awesome, ill someday sign up for a hill climb event but for now I wanna get my car on that road a little bit and try it out.
@@ryanrink2641 Is there much traffic when there's no events? any bicyclists ?
Honestly yeah, it's a cycling road and also just after the finish line is a hiking trail so there is also traffic for that, so it would do you more good just to watch a video of someone racing it over and over again and memorize it that way instead of actually going there and risking an accident or getting caught or something. That's what we all do, we just watch our best lap over and over again and memorize it that way.
@@ryanrink2641 Got it, thanks for answering man!
So glad you got it back man! In the 11 years I've owned my MR2, people have tried to steal parts off the motor or steal the car 3 times. Those attempted break ins cost me around $1500 in damages. The best part about owning an MR2 is that you own an MR2. The worst part about owning an MR2 is that everyone else wants your MR2.
Yeah it does really suck! I've been saving money since the beginning of 2021, getting ready to restore all the interior damages caused by the theft almost 3 years ago already.
I have a 1997 Lexus ls400. Does a Toyota door handle work for these?
That recycling used oil skit was funny af too!!!
That recycling used oil skit was funny af too!!!
Haha well I'm glad you don't hate me too badly and I'm glad you liked the autozone scene. I'm quite proud of that one!
Let's goooooooooo!
The end of an era! hopefully that was my one and only jeep experience in this lifetime. haha
Oh baby!
Way to be my first commenter! you were quick on that one, haha Thanks for being supportive, man.
You didn't show us how to pull it out when you got the nut and bolt off. Skipped ahead to dropping the new one. I can't figure out how to take it out, do i need to take the belt wheel off in front of it? You said i don't know how to get this out of here then skipped ahead.
I'm pretty sure you just have to pull it out forward by rotating it weirdly and then getting it in front of the engine and pulling it out where the fan used to be. If that doesn't work you could try removing that serpentine pulley that is in the way of the alternator coming out in the front. I don't think we had to remove any extra parts because we were pretty limited on tools we had access to. This wasn't supposed to be a "how to" video, sorry!
No worries. I think i figured it out, i dropped a like. Good video
Did it just come out the front without having to remove any more pulleys?
No the bolt it sits on is to long and i couldn't wiggle it out. I just removed the one pulley right in front of it that was blocking it from sliding out. It's like a 17mm nut. It's hard to get off because it spins. Similar to the last nut on the fan. That was a beeeotch.
I did my ls400 driver door handle took me 4 hrs exactly. Theres noneasy way of doin it
It was so difficult for us! Glad we wont ever have to do it again! Haha
