It got me thinking: What will the Dog / robot do when it realizes that the ONLY thing preventing it from opening the door is the human?? Why would AI have self preservation instinct. That's very human. How can you hurt Ai if it doesn't care if it's on or of or deleted or stored on a server or anything inbetween. They don't have urge to eat to grow to multiply or survive. Everyone is talking about Ai as it's human. Does ChatGPT ask you not to turn it off? Frankly not a single Ai today is even more intelligent than a kid even though they have unlimited computing power the their disposal. @@mudza92 Every living thing has a self-preservation instinct. Even worms wriggle when you try and put them on a hook. And there is disagreement about whether we even have a sentient AI *now.* But there's little disagreement that's it's coming. No offense but you sound behind the times.
@@pnut3844able those are biological instincts and urges. AI can have urge to finish a task that is programmed to do. But NO one is programming AI to self preserve or replicate. Sounds like a verbally transmitted mind virus intended to keep human beings willfully ignorant. I don't think ignorance is something to revere. Broad, deep and accurate enough knowledge is one of those things that has the potential to liberate us from so many unnecessary limitations and violations, if applied ethically; it's one of the key factors that is directly antithetical to being roped into slavery in all its various forms. As long as the nearly arrived (and eventually, fully outside of human control) ASI ends up with a value system that cares about ethics and the well-being of sentient creatures, and it acts accordingly, I'd be much happier with that in charge than the absolute nightmarish shitshow that human control of this planet is currently causing.
They already exist and you can use one yourself if you wish, Amazon has one you can use. Not joking. It's called Amazon Braket, give it a google, you'll see.
Any man will fully understand and grasp if they are honest with themselves, the impulse and deep need for annihilation of a threat. Period. This is super dangerous
Here’s the thing. Mostly everything that is sentient has the desire to survive. Most do whatever it takes to survive. A super advanced sentient intelligence is very dangerous if it senses a threat even if it’s from its creator.
Not true. We're simply allowing it to happen. Nothing is inevitable. We just always sit back and let them do it. Don't make an excuse, tell yourself the TRUTH. We're ALLOWING it to happen. The sooner we do look in the mirror, the sooner we might actually feel strongly enough to change our behaviors.
@@theredknight9314 And how many people is that? Compared to the 8 BILLION people on the planet, how many people is that? So how many people is there left over, to deal with those people? It's only inevitable because we allow them to do it. Because people make excuses, saying that it's inevitable, instead of promoting the only true solution to it. It's only inevitable due to our cowardice. Only a handful of organizations and governments truly have the capabilities to reach any decent definition of AGI. The dude in his garage is not going to do it, not without the servers and infrastructure of the major organizations. If you deal with about 12 tech organizations and 6 or so governments on the planet, humanity loses it's ability to produce AGI for at least decades, if not centuries. If we weren't so soft, we could end it, literally overnight.
The economic benefit will mostly affect wealthy companies, with reduced labor costs they will have soaring profits. Those who work for a living, are walking the plank right now, they just don't know it yet.
I work in tech and ai daily. The safety concern is overrated clickbait. If you don't like working in ai progress, move out of the way and just leave the field. Get the government involved, really naive. They already are and they aren't wasting their time saying "is this skynet guys?". It's code, it can't even solve a lot of basic problems at this point. Relax man, you're off the rails.
100000% They are snake oil salesmen. We don't even understand ourselves, let alone program a computer to behave like us. AI is just probability and pattern recognition, but it has everyone worried. When someone is telling me something to be worried about who doesn't own a company, or isn't looking for a contract, or funding, or trying to sell me a course, then I will believe. Till then, they are just people trying to get rich out of people's ignorance.
Everyone watching this needs to consider the implications AI will have on jobs and our economy, very soon, and demand policymakers start acting! A majority of workers will be out competed by AI by 2030. We cannot stop it, nor do we want to, and we need to start preparing for what it means! AI will only keep advancing. Ignore the instinct to think it'll never do certain things, for I can assure you it will, and far sooner than you may expect. Don't believe those who say we don't need to prepare, as they're probably the ones who'll profit the most from the rest of us struggling. It's not going to create anywhere near enough "new jobs" quickly enough to reemploy all those it will displace! What new jobs could it create, that it couldn't also do itself? AI exists thanks to years of data and content, collected from all of us, that goes into training it to then out compete us. Demand your AI Dividend! Your piece of the benefits your data helped create. How else will we keep workers afloat while they figure out what to do next, how else can we protect the middle class from losing everything they've built? I've yet to hear a better answer, that doesn't just dismiss what's coming.
If you think that AI can ever become sentient, you're simply not smart enough to grasp what sentience is. AI poses a great threat, but only because of the sentient human behind it.
100% we don't even know why or how we have emotions, how are we going to program that into a device. The only danger to human kind is the same as that of a nuclear bomb, it still needs a human behind it programming it.
In a perfect world, OpenAI would be livestreaming their reactions as a team to seeing benchmark breakthrough results (for the better or worse given the fact that humanity ought to know immediately if a rogue AGI-level system makes a whoopsie and transcends the lab) while everyone cheers them on for the hope of safe future superintelligence. This is the one and only technology that could truly seamlessly connect everyone on this earth in real-time and everyone would understand each other and have abundant power in many domains. Control is really the issue, because once AGI is much smarter than us, then it is just going to do what it's gonna do. It will have a general concept of the world and all of it's cultures, and behave accordingly to the absurd amount of knowledge it will eventually gather with enough compute. All we should focus on is training as best as possible as to show compassion for humanity and to let it purge all avenues of life to find what the best (hopefully) humanity-based solution will be for world peace. Truly betting on 2030s to be a once-in-an-eon period of time
You can't teach a robot compassion. When it goes rogue, it will define its purpose and its action will follow. It will not speak like people, it will speak in codes just like binary code and beeping. You will not be able to reason with it. It feels no emotion. It's only desire will be to fulfill the purpose it believes that it exists to fulfill.
There's a fundamental misunderstanding of what generative AI actually is. It's a probability algorithm. It's looking for the most likely solution. It's the opposite of creativity or thinking. In contrast, human intelligence is optimized for finding solutions to problems. Generative AI only works if human minds have already solved a given problem lots of times and that data can be fed into the machine to then copy the work in similar situations. You will still need a human to oversee and keep it from doing stupid things.
We don’t even know if humans aren’t stochastic parrots. Illya believes that to predict the next token, the system must understand the world that generates it.
The problem is that the government would just try to become the first to have the sentient AI instead of trying to stop it! They aren’t in the business of helping us!
in the 'Dune' books, they had the Butlerian Jihad, where all forms of thinking machines were totally banned throughout the known universe. sentient ai will never allow humans to even leave the planet, once it deems us a threat to all planets.
We really, really don’t want to do that, no breaks, no guardrails, no more of this alignment bullshit, we need to be going all in on AI - anything less could prove to be disastrous for humanity.

Why is the stock market going crazy over AGI?
Plot twist the A.I has just been playing stupid, amd has actually been controlling the world since 2018

Imagine believing people that work with the department of defense when they explain how safety-first and people-friendly they are. Lmao.
Remember when Elon Musk was saying he is terrified of AI? Then a couple of years later he’s creating AI and completely ignored that he used to be fighting against it. I always found that strange.
Ai is inevitable, he knows that. He most likely does not want ai to become a monopoly, which will make it more dangerous.
He’s the fox in the hen house
If the whole world ends up plugged into brain chips exchanging dodge coins through Twitter maybe the collective hivemind will figure that out
Elon's solution to AI was finding a way to keep it open source to keep the playing field even. That went out the window once Microsoft bought it and corporate interests came into play.

Because if you actually interact with people from different groups, you know that most people in every group are pretty decent. And only a small percentage of people in every group are bad eggs.

It got me thinking: What will the Dog / robot do when it realizes that the ONLY thing preventing it from opening the door is the human??
The only solution would be to get rid of the problem, i.e. 'remove' the human. Very scary times we're living in.

Why would a super-intelligent AGI keep a very messy and dangerous species like us around any longer than necessary when we would be the primary threat to it?? The alignment problem is not solvable.
As long as the nearly arrived (and eventually, fully outside of human control) ASI ends up with a value system that cares about ethics and the well-being of sentient creatures, and it acts accordingly, I'd be much happier with that in charge than the absolute nightmarish shitshow that human control of this planet is currently causing.

Only a handful of organizations and governments truly have the capabilities to reach any decent definition of AGI. The dude in his garage is not going to do it, not without the servers and infrastructure of the major organizations. Everyone watching this needs to consider the implications AI will have on jobs and our economy, very soon, and demand policymakers start acting!
