The Best episode of All in the Family was when Edith was going thru what Archie called "the mental-pause" . She screamed "Stifle it!" at Archie and he couldn't handle it. He was about to have a nervous breakdown because she was standing up to him. In the early 2000s, my white daughter and her good friend who is black, would call each other on the phone while watching All in the Family on TV Land, and I could hear them both howling with laughter. They loved that show! It was their favorite.

I do remember MY first episode but not a thing about the content; I just remember staring at the TV thinking, WTF? That I believe was around 1973 and I don’t recall seeing it on the air before. It was Archie’s racial slurs or something like that that caught me. Interesting time. Ha! I just looked it up, 1971. So much for memory of dates. But it was such a parody of society for a lot of frustrated Americans.
Stifle was always directed at Edith Bunker. It isn't that Archie didn't tell Gloria what to do, it is just that the phrase "stifle yourself" was directed sorely at Edith.

One of my favorite episodes was when Meathead sat on Archie's chair and broke it. Another episode I liked was when The Jeffersons moved into the neighborhood, (The "First and Last Supper" Episode) where Edith wanted to meet the family and it wasn't George Jefferson (It was Henry Jefferson) and Archie and Henry blew raspberries to each other.
I loved it when Gloria would pull Archie's chest hair, or the time she told archie to do something, and he didn't want to, and Gloria chased him up the stairs, Gloria could make him do just about anything, after all, he always called her his little girl, I loved that show, and I still do
What a lot of people don’t know if she’s extremely active in off broadway theater. I’ve seen her over half a dozen times maybe more like 10 because she’s a regular in the area that I live in. She has a home near here as well. I’ve met her and she’s extremely nice, and I have a few pictures with her as well. Very nice lady very down to earth.

I thought this video might be addressing the off screen turbulence between stars Sally Struthers and Rita Moreno. Hearing about this has actually changed my mind about the general character of Ms. Moreno.
I’ve been fortunate enough too see Ms Struthers perform live in community theater and thoroughly enjoyed her performance. Rob Riner on the other hand is someone who comes off as arrogant & entitled. His acting chops as Meathead were great, but I believe he was playing himself.
They even had an episode about SA. When Edith Bunker wars getting attacked by a man and her cake was burning tree got mad and threw it on the Tigers face in the round out. I remember signing up thank God good for her.! They weren’t afraid to tackle anything.
My favorite episode was when Mike was trying to make change because Archie owed money to Mr. Jefferson. I've been trying to find that one for years, thanks to RUclips, I finally found it lol😂😂
There were so many great episodes however, my favorite has to be when Edith goes through the change of life. I have to have intestine surgery every time i watch it. My guts split at the first laugh and continue until I have to call for an ambulance, but I watch it to the end.
Great show. I have 2 faves actually. One episode was Heat Wave & the other was when Gloria got mugged. It was a pretty dramatic episode for Sally& she did an excellent job. That episode still got laughs, but thete were some very sserious undertones. Its a shame society got so nit- picky. That show wouldnt fly today. Im enjoying the reruns now. 🙏❤😀

@FactsVerse It had to be the episode where Archie gave CPR to what he later found out was a female impersonator. There were a couple of follow-up episodes, and on the third one, Mike got beaten and she was killed, which was kind of depressing. But it was certainly real.

All in the Family was the greatest sitcom in history! Sally Struthers was wonderful in her role as Gloria Stivic.
