Best not to search for deeper meanings (there probably aren't any) .........but he captured the zeitgeist (as geniuses often do) ......and ultimately composed an iconic moment in 20th century fashion.
absollutely mesmerizing :) he will always be known as a brilliant designer. It's not just that he could create beautiful clothes and make his shows remakrable performaces but the way those shows inspired as well as amazed...RIP McQUEEN
today I saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met in NYC. It was phenomenal...the set they created to showcase all the clothing...the lighting...the music...a perfect homage. Seeing some of these items up close, I just shook my head, marveling at the detail, creativity and sheer beauty. We also saw videos of some of his shows, including this famous painted dress, the chess game, and then looking through a glass window, we got to see the Kate Moss hologram with music. It brought tears! RIP
"I want to be the purveyor of a certain silhouette or a way of cutting, so that when I am dead and gone people will know that the twenty-first century was started by Alexander McQueen." McQueen was such a creative genius, such beautiful work, R.I.P Lee Alexander, you were the twenty first century
this has to be one of the most brilliant ways of presenting such an art piece R.I.P. McQueen this will always be one of my favorite runway presentations!
this is the most, THE MOST daring hting I've ever seen staged... the interaction, the reaction. The balance between menace and beauty, the oppressive and the delicate. The mechanical and the fragile. Is she being abused, or adorned, she is right in the moment, and emotes everything to allow us to create our own dialogue. McQueen is Supreme.
@hobbyhorsemen I couldn't agree more. Difference is, he'd been a huge inspiration to me for years before his death, and when I heard, I cried too. He's transparent through his work, we can see him and even say we knew him by understanding his work.
: I walked right up to it and stood on top of this circular platform. And as soon as I gained my footing, the circular platform started a slow, steady rotation. And it was almost like the mechanical robots were stretching and moving their parts after an extended period of slumber. And as they sort of gained consciousness, they recognized that there was another presence amongst them, and that was myself. - Shalom Harlow on the finale
And at some point, the curiosity switched, and it became slightly more aggressive and frenetic and engaged on their part. And an agenda became solidified somehow. And my relationship with them shifted at that moment because I started to lose control over my own experience, and they were taking over. So they began to spray and paint and create this futuristic design on this very simple dress. -Shalom Harlow
mdmm she is shalom harlow a well respected supermodel. this scene / performance was in fact unrehearsed and inpromptu. she is genius here perfect to express mcqueens idea.
@keitho300 I'm sorry but Alexander McQueen is one of the most important figures in fashion history. What he made was not just regular clothes it's art. I don't know how anyone would have thought what he did when he directed his shows
They are s2 robots from a company called comau, they are usually for welding car body parts, my dad installed and programmed them, and pressed the 'go' button on the night.
@SpringtimeRosePetals Appreciate Mcqueen's mind-blowing work and let it go, that user who talks nothing but crap about someone too intelligent for his/her mind capacity and is obviously is too bigot-headed and idiotic for this time period isn't worth the time to argue....
@ronaldo20 no, i can do much more, and say much more, but i choose to be succinct in my word choice. plus, i at least know how to use proper sentence structure, although i can see that you obviously cannot considering the sentence "all you can do is swearing" doesn't make sense. oh, and i also have a little bit of respect, which you also lack.
.... aprende a expresarte... y a no generalizar.
this could possibly be the best moment in fashion history
but why?? cant understand what he wanted to show

@donglabong Yeah too bad McQueen died and other things like Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus is still alive =.=

gay or straight? as if being gay jeopardizes the notion of genius or something?
